He's inherited a huge pile of problems in this country, and around the world that the US is involved in, and considering the mess he's up against, we can't expect everything to be coming up roses soon, and in some cases ever. But I truly believe he's sincere about at least TRYING to do something about putting this country and its people right again. I also believe things are probably going to get worse, possibly a LOT worse, before they can start to get better. But at least now I feel we have some hope.

They "double speak" in the documents. Things like - "It is totally voluntary, everyone ages 18-25 WILL serve. This is something they are required to do as a citizen, total voluntary, and will make them better citizens". I may be off by one or two words but if you pull up youtube and type in Rahm Emanuel mandatory service there are a few different videos you can watch. It's also in the bills they passed. They are just calling it something different than the military because it's easier to hide it that way. Which by the way, once your child signs the papers and has had their basic training there is nothing that will stop them from being called to go fight in a war - after all "its their patriotic duty", oh and they shouldn't ever complain about it either.
I'll tell you, it's turning into a very scary country and I'm wondering if anyone in WA has a backbone anymore.

obama supporter they would have known it was me, or would have assumed it was a Republican...which are equally bad in their eyes...because they know one democrat would never ask another democrat that question. They can't answer it. If they said yes, well you know what that suggests. They couldn't say no either, because they think whatever Obama does is right.
That is the difference in us. If OBama was the President, and he made as good a case as was made for going into Iraq (back when everybody including the Democrats believed there was wMD, were for it before they were against it), I would support him, because it would be in the best interest of the country. That is putting country first.
I might be sick about everything else he plans to do as President, but if he used military force to keep Iran from getting a nuke, yes, I would support Barack Obama. You heard it here first.

One reason drug prices are so high in America is because of litigation. People want drugs here, but if there's an ill side effect or someone falls over dead....let the suing begin!!! If we would get over our selfish wussification then life would be so much more bearable for all. Why, on a two day vacation in NYC, taking in Spamalot, the broadway show..chuckling it up, while New Orleans burns and people die. She called security over and had the woman evicted..such is how OUR SERVANTS act, like they are king and queen. I mean, come on, even if you couldnt care less about what is going down, show a little respect and stay home until this is under control..FEMA should have gotten planes and aid out the very next morning to the gulf region, Bush knew this was gonna be a bad storm..he could have had the planes loaded up and waiting for the next morning after the storm..but, as is usual with this administration, Bush and his cohorts wait until chaos, as in Iraq, and then he acts but then it is too late. Well, the other day I posted how one day the masses will have their backs up against the wall and American politicians will have to create programs and help them..I see a minor version of what I was posting about..and, like that song says..*when you aint got nothing, you got nothing to lose*. This is an extremely dire situation..If the people in the gulf region dont calm down and get things under control on their own, the police and other authorities will not be able to, unless they shoot them all..and that will put blood on their hands and Bush's hands for not acting fast enough to show these poor people, that the govt cares..I am sick to my stomach over the evolving situation.Bush's approval is at 46%, just wait it will be even lower next time a poll is taken..

Bennett was alluding, of course, to Freakanomics, and if you don't know what that is, then you have no business even discussing this subject at all. But if you DID know what that was, and you were of a mind to say, he should have mentioned Freakanomics often during the conversation, then I would ask you this. Do you constantly say over and over in each sentence in a conversation any reference you are alluding to in a discussion? Oh, I know how very bad many here want to portray Bill as a racist. I didn't use to be, but I am against it now. I do know that certain kinds of criminals, rapists, child molesters, have a high rate of recidivism. They just cannot be rehabilitated. I think they should be locked away and never let out.

These people post nothing that has to do with the subject matter posted but go straight for the jugular. You are incorrect when you say it isn't personal, because it is extremely personal at times. One long term poster was stalked and threatened by e-mail back when posting an e-mail link was an option. I think you are as free as anyone to post your feelings and beliefs on any board, but when those posts become personally hateful, threatening, or wishing someone death or extreme ill will then that poster be it conservative or liberal needs to go. Recently, the most hateful posts have happened on the C-board. The moderator has said over and over "no bashing", but they still continue to do it. What do you expect the moderator/administrator to do?
Not that I wish you to leave, but If you don't feel comfortable posting here you certainly don't have to stay. There might be a forum where you would feel more comfortable and better fits your posting style. Again, this is a privately owned board, and the administrator is free to discern anyway he/she wants. However, I think the administrator would agree EVERYONE needs to play by the rules.

Welfare and the near death experience
I studied social work and worked at children services. Welfare amounts to $115 a month for an adult which said adult has to work 40 hours for (at least in my state - Ohio). If you have small children - you do not have to work the 40 hours until they are in school. You do get food stamps. Some live in "projects" with reduced rent. You might qualify for home heating assistance in the winter (most times it will not cover the entire bill). If you get on a percentage of income plan on your electric - you still have to pay the whole bill at some point in time - it just keeps adding up. Welfare accounts for less than 15% of the income taxes we pay, politicians would like you to think it is a lot more. Welfare is no picnic - it sux. The mentally ill who are homeless cannot collect any type of benefits as they have no address (smart guy, that Reagan). If we wish to be a "community" then we must extend a helping hand to those who are less unfortunate than the rest of us.
A high-profile, corporate take-over attorney had the good life and was ruthless in his job and did it very well. Every day he had to step over this wino lying on a heat vent on the sidewalk when he walked to his office. He despised that wino. Freakin' bum. One day that attorney had a massive heart attack. He almost didn't make it. He claimed to have had a near death experience in which he was told by Jesus that the bum he stepped over every day had chosen that as his lot in life before birth so as to teach the attorney some humility and compassion. The attorney never forgot this "dream" when he recovered from his heart attack. He devoted the rest of his life advocating for the poor and walked away from all the trappings of his "elitist" life. True story - cannot validate it at this moment.

Can we bring the board back to the true reason for the board
Can we get the political board back to the true purpose of this board – to share opinions of why we like our candidate. Not bash and cut down others because they don’t agree with you.
I stayed away from this board for the past couple days because anyone who had anything positive to say about Sarah Palin got slammed, bashed, kicked down, etc. After awhile I found it all too draining, and was not seeing any reason to come. Yes, I did see some of it towards people who favored Barack Obama, but if you read the posts again it is mostly towards anyone who favored Sarah Palin/John McCain.
I thought the political board was for posting information regarding politics and candidates. What I have seen for the past few days is that it has been an attack board. Especially if you have anything positive you want to share about Sarah Palin. You say something good about her and you get attacked, you answer back, and you get attacked more, and then when you get mad and pretty much say stop attacking me, they come back with this “Geez, I’m allowed to have an opinion”.
Another thing I am tired of seeing is the slanderous, hate filled, really off the wall comments about Sarah Palin. The latest was something about her daughter actually had her baby. Talk about just bizarre comments. I thought what’s next, she’s an alien from another planet? The more I kept reading the more the comments were getting just really weird and bizarre. Of course nobody ever having any proof of any of these allegations. I then came to realize that the posters were just trying to get a fight going.
I also saw posts that had nothing to do with politics but attacking a poster named Sam. Again, probably trying to get another fight going for no good reason and on things that have nothing to do whatsoever with politics. I’ve read “Sam is like an annoying nat that you sway away”, “Sam, please let me know where you work” or “she must have her quota” or “sam is to the politics board as oracle is to the” This childish rhetoric is getting old. I’m not defending sam she is a big girl and I can see by her posts she can take care of herself, but my point is that this has nothing to do with politics. If you want a fight maybe you could request that the administrator create a separate “fight and degrade” section.
I’ve read the administrators post a couple different times called Beware of Flaming. She/he said as long as we realize that not everyone is going to agree we shouldn’t wear our feelings on our sleeves and a little more oversight on here would be good. Let people express his or her opinion and move on. If you don’t like someone just ignore that person. “It’s not rocket science, you know” (I liked that statement) 
I consider posting on this board a privilege and not a right. If you don’t agree with something and you post that you don’t agree and state the facts why (and are civilized about it) that’s one thing, but when you bash and degrade others without showing proof and just want to start fights and belittle others it just seems a bit juvenile to me.
I come to the politics board to hear ideas and stuff (facts) about the candidates. That is how I’m learning about each one, but I don’t want to read people attack other posters for no good reason. I'd like to hear about Obama/Biden & McCain/Palin, but I want to hear facts.

I had hoped that these new boards would eliminate the personal favorites that seemed to exist on the other board. Looks like that isn't the case.
And as far as approaching the administrator about fairness, if I can't do that, then I truly don't belong in a forum like this one. I belong in one that doesn't play favorites, where intelligent discourse can occur, where personal insults and attacks are prohibited for everyone, not just for some.
I just wonder how many people you've chased away from here, besides me.
