Much like I don't believe that a book on womanly behavior written in the 1800s determines how a woman in the year 2009 should live, I don't believe that a book written 2100 years ago should set the law of the country. Even the new testament was okay with slavery. Should we get back into that business, or is it possible that the bible teaching in that regard may be out of touch with the world today? You are free to live your life according to the bible as you interpret it (or live it by Cosmo, Good Housekeeping, or even the Gor series if you want). However, our freedom of religion in this country goes into the crapper as soon as you start imposing your version of religious teaching on others.
And I still haven't heard...are you okay with sharia in the Middle East?
