I don't hate poor people.  There are two kinds of people I can't stand though....people who mooch off of others and won't do for themselves and people who are rich through illegal activity.

Welfare was supposed to help people get back on their feet.  This system has been abused horribly.  If people aren't willing to at least try and better themselves.....they shouldn't receive a handout.  I'm all for helping people who deserve it but there are too many people out there who can work but just won't. 

No one wants to be poor and so I guess I am guilty of not wanting to be poor.  I'm comfortable in my middle class world right now because my husband and I earned the living that we have.  So no....it doesn't settle well with me that Obama wants to come along and take our hard earned money and give it to people who refuse to try to better themselves and would much rather just receive a monthly government check.

As for the rich....not every rich person is a crook.  I don't feel bad for the rich who have earned what they have.  That is the American dream and the people who criticize that are just jealous.  However, the people who have obtained their riches through illegal activity should be held accountable....including politicians like Dodd and Barney Frank.
