Unfortunately

my Dad died 11 years ago, so I don't think he will be changing his mind. He did not need to see pictures of abortions, he saw women with the coat hanger or knitting needles still in them. So you could say he did attend quite a few abortions. And unfortunately at times, they would be considered what we now call a partial-birth abortion. This was not a political question for him, it was his life. He did it for 34 years and then died at age 66.

Where he worked, there were very few if any doctors performing sterile abortions. Even if there were, these woman did not have the money to pay for it and no way to get any. He worked in a very poor, very violent city. So maybe overall, there were not many back alley abortions, but they were happening where he was.

But his thinking was now there were two victims. He was sad about the death of the mother and the fetus. Both lives were precious to him, and after seeing innocent victims shot, stabbed, decapitated, maimed every day, he would liked to have at least saved one life.

So you can look at all the pictures and read all the statistics, but it does not compare to actually having to see that dead woman, take pictures of the scene, cover the body with a sheet, load the body in a paddy wagon, and take it to the hospital or morgue.
