nonjudgemental, understanding, washing the feet of the lowliest citizen, feeding the hungry, living life without always saying me, me, me. I could think of a lot of adjectives that would describe what being a Christian means to me but I am seeing none of that here from people whose greatest claim is that they are devout Christians. I hear only fear, lies, hate, biogotry and defensiveness instead of love, truth, hope and light in Jesus name.

why are so many Christians so insecure? Why so paranoid? Don't you think Jesus will take care of it all? Where does it say that "we" have to be "dominant", Christianity is a lifetime philosphy, a way of life, a calling for the soul, why do you think we must be the most populous in the country? When Christianity started out it was a tiny, obscure "and left wing" type of religion, even labeled an insane cult, but it cretainly thrived, even with rabid Roman prosecution....God even put His seat on earth, supposedly, in Rome, is that no irony, and does it not show the might of the Lord? Perhaps the percentages will change in the future between the major religions, but in the end, belief of a higher power, belief in goodness, honesty, truth, kindness, charity, love, equity, righteousness, morals....all fo that was not "copywrited" from the Christians. Jesus, his family, his followers were all Jews, Jesus NEVER renounced Judaism, just the hypocritcal sects that had grown up in the temples, and the apostes saw Christianity as an addition of rules and precepts from the Master IN ADDITION to their Jewish heritage.....If we are strong in our faith, we should not worry about what percent of population is Christian.

I consider myself a true Christian. I was baptized in the Southern Baptist Church when I was 11, and converted to Presbyterian Church USA as an adult, where I am an ordained Elder and Deacon. I am voting for Obama.
I am pro-choice and pro gay civil unions. The bible talks a lot more about tithing than it does about homosexuality (we just had a great sermon on this, but I don't remember the exact number difference.) Most Christians aren't up in arms for those who don't tithe. Homosexuality has been around forever, as has abortion (performed by midwives, etc., using herbs and other methods.)
I am married, with 2 children. I have never had to make the choice on abortion and hopefully never will. I hope my daughter never has to make this choice, but I sure as h@ll want it to be available to her if she does.
I think marriage is up to the individual churches, and many churches do perform gay marriages. I think that the government should allow civil unions. I really don't care what 2 people come together as a couple. I wish them all the love and happiness and support I have had in my own marriage for 21+ years.
How dare you say I am not a true Christian because my beliefs are different from yours. Christians come in many "flavors" and you are free to believe as you wish, and I don't think you are more or less Christian because of it.

I am opinionated so I am talking about me too. However, I do practice be more objective or maybe the word is more diplomatic and just hope practice makes perfect before I give myself a stroke with all of my strong opinions.

Loving someone
doesn't give you the right to marry them. Everything in life has restrictions and it's important so as to avoid chaos and turmoil which is exactly what homosexuals would like to see. No holds barred. No rules. Giving a homo the right to marry is like giving a blind person the right to drive. Just because a blind person has the "love" and "desire" to get behind the wheel doesn't mean he he has the capabilities. Any man in the universe can sodomize another person or any object he so desires or has the nerve to try. Any woman in the universe can use tongue, fingers and objects for sexual gratification. It still doesn't constitute a "marriage" as there is 0% chance of conception and it doesn't matter how much "LOVE" is thrown in the mix. A marriage is made up of a couple who possess the parts necessary to conceive, whether it happens or not. Those who want to drive blind are just a danger to society. ;-)

He did speak out against wrong doing and sometimes LOUDLY and with force. Don't forget the moneychangers' tables. Maybe you don't know what that was about but that was a HUGE thing in Jesus' time and doing so took great courage. Are you saying he hated because he disapproved of what they were doing? He never said let wrongdoing continue. I guess you would call him judgemental, huh? He said love those, regardless, not take part and go along with them and their beliefs.

Anyone bombing anything in the name of Christ
needs to rethink who they say they are "in the name of". I do not believe a true Christian would harm anyone to prove a point or say that it was in the name of Christ. These people have their ideas twisted. We are to hate the SIN of abortion, not the abortionist. God will deal with them in His own time, it is not for us to do.

tells us this behavior is "abominable." Dysfunctional and disgusting is in the same category. Saying something is disgusting or bad or wrong is not judging. It's stating a fact. Tell me how to love my fellow man who insists on being labeled as a sinful behavior that I'm required to hate. Hate the sin, love the sinner doesn't fly in the homosexual community. Can we hate murder but love the murderer? Can we hate stealing but love the thief? Tell us all how to do that when it's hard to separate the two, especially if someone wants to be labeled as a particular sin. Impossible, I say.

but loved the sinner. A PERSON is not labeled as a particular sin, they have committed a particular sin, big difference.
May be hard to separate the two, but it is what Christ commanded. If you take on the name of a Christian you are commanded to be Christ like. We are human and we fail, but if you consistently have this attitude, it makes me wonder if Christ is just in your head or really in your heart.

I was a Republican once, but they have become Democrats lite. Yes, my politics would be considered conservative. I don't believe the Constitution is a "living" document. I believe is fine as the founders wrote it and not as the ACLU would like it to be re-written. I believe in God. I believe in a free country. I believe in capitalism. I believe in more power at the state level than the federal government level. To name a few. I certainly don't believe in socialism, in making people dependent upon the government for their every need.
