They can't help it PK, they are sleeping. sm
Not even the smallest deviation of opinion on the most unimportant subject can be tolerated with the neoconservatives. They are pro war and pro the almighty government, and call themselves patriotic, yet call those of us who question and remain vigilant toward government traitors. This is an American citizen's duty. Their heads are that foggy with propaganda.
Ever hear of Orwell's doublethink? I see examples of it in almost all of their posts.
how about a sleeping pill?
I need something to help me relax after being on here for awhile. It is tense.
sleeping pill
Shelly:
If you take a sleeping pil - you won't get to enjoy the popcorn!!! (See post above this one)
The sleeping lion I was referring to was not...
JOhn McCain, it was conservatives, and in particular, feminists who are conservative, not liberal. They are concerned with all those issues. John McCain addresses all of those issues you listed.
One in particular, small business. Obama is going to raise their taxes. It is part of his tax plan..the $250,000 or over bracket. That is right in the small business bracket. All that will do is cause more businesses to close or go offshore, resulting in more jobs lost, more people into the lower income brackets. Enter the $6 billion he is going to tax those small businesses in order to give MORE tax breaks to the lowest bracket. They already pay little or no taxes.
The "rich" already pay more than 90% of the federal tax bill. Why isn't that enough for Obama? Corporations are also the largest employers in this country. Why continue to tax them so hard, so hard they are forced to go offshore or lay off people to afford them? That makes no sense, unless your goal is to force more people into the lower brackets so you can contiune to demonize corporations as your re-election mantra in the next election?
Democrats had the 8 years before Bush...just as many people were in the lower brackets as today. No matter what the DNC says, their goal is to keep people in the lower brackets, not elevate them. Because if they are elevated they are happy, and if they are happy, you cannot prey on discontent in order to get elected. If people just look at history, that is pretty darned obvious. I am not blaming Obama in particular...he has just picked up the mantle of the DNC. He is Washington politics as usual.
Protect social security? Privatize it, let individuals control their own, get it OUT of the hands of COngress so they cannot continue to "borrow" from it. That should be the first priority. And for Congress to pay back all they have "borrowed" before they create more social programs. THAT would be putting the people before the party.
Clean elections? There is fast and loose on both sides, and everyone knows that. No party owns that particular issue.
Federal contract earmarks? Research Joe Biden's professional lobbyist son and how many earmarks he has steered to good old dad's supporters. That is also on both sides of the aisle. If Obama wants to clean up lobbying and earmarks, he needs to start with his VP.
War? John McCain hates war. But he does not want his country to lose one. Unlike the other side.
Patriot act? How many "innoncent" people have fallen victim to the patriot act? None, that I know of. I have nothing to hide. If the FBI wants to monitor my emails, they better get coffee because they will be bored to death. How does it escape anyone's notice that we have not been attacked again? I saw on the news this morning that AL Qaeda is going to focus attention on denmark now, because of those cartoons. Started by bombing one of their embassies...sound familiar? If George Bush did nothing else right, he did put them on the run, and good for HIM. John McCain will do the same. Barack Obama...not so much.
Separation of church and state...what the constitution states is that there will be no establishment of a state religion. There never has been in this country and never will be. The constitution also says the free expression thereof...but liberals skip right over that inconvenient detail every single time.
Global diplomacy? Look at history. Europe loves America when Europe needs America, and when they don't come the sneers. May I direct you to World War I, World War II...? Helllpppp America they are running us over. Cheering in the streets. Throwing flowers at the soldiers' feet. War over. Yankee go home. sorry if I don't give a hoot what Europe thinks of us. Europe does not step up when we need help...yet if they yelled again tomorrow, right back we would go..because that is who we are.
Obama...how do you balance a budget and reduce debt when your tax plan alone is going to raise the deficit by over a trillion dollars? Not to mention health care, expanded social programs, and everything else he promises.
The best way to address poverty is not to keep giving tax cuts to those who do not pay much tax to begin with. You make every welfare check attached to a jobs program. You make them work to earn it. Learn a skill.
Obama talks a lot about the middle class. He practices the Alinsky tactic well and it has worked for the DNC for many years. Class warfare. Stir people up, because in the words of Alinsky himself, it doesn't matter if it is true or not. It just matters if you are able to make people believe it.
And with that, I bid you a good afternoon.
So sam, what are the sleeping lion's plans for change?
Address poverty? Restore the every diminishing quality of life for the middle class? Mortgage industry? Predatory lending/credit card practices? Balanced budget? Reduced debt? Tax reform? Create jobs? Outsourcing? Minimum wage? Protect Social Security? Workers' unions? Small busineses? Corporate corruption? Free trade? Clean up the environment? Alternative energies? Fuel efficiency? Clean elections? Special interests? Federal contract earmarks? Patriot Act? Ending the War? Restoring alliances? Global diplomacy? Separation of church and state? Just curious.
Investigation
Why did conservatives think it so important to pursue a private personal situation with President Bill Clinton back in the late 1990s instead of pursuing terrorists? We knew back then about bin Laden, we knew back then of terrorists wanting to harm Americans. So, pray tell, why was it so important back then to turn this country into a laughing stock for the world and persecute a person for a private matter instead of focusing totally on terrorists? Tieing up the presidents hands and holding down the government and wasting millions so that nothing else was done? Well, I personally think lying to the American people and causing thousands of deaths because of the lies and spending billions of American tax dollars is important and needs investigating and boy oh boy will the truth be known when this happens. and thank you dear Lord, thank you for answering my prayers.
no investigation
into Pelosi's allegations that the CIA lied? How can they do that? That's giving her (and anyone else) carte blanche to say and do anything with no consequences. I generally am not in any way partisan, but in this case the Democrats just gave themselves a big black mark in my book by blocking this. Either way, the issue has to be resolved. Either Congress is lying or the CIA lied. We deserve to know which. The American people need to demand an answer. To me, Dems blocking the investigation makes them definitely look guilty.
What do you think about the investigation into Roberts' SM
adoptions?
You're right there....... FBI investigation
If it were McCain you better believe the FBI would start an investigation but with all his involvement with corrupt organizations and terrorists groups, the FBI will not look into him at this point. They are waiting to see how this election turns out. No, he wouldn't pass an FBI investigation. There are many that have been in or done far less than him that haven't.
I should have said Lunsford *investigation*, not trial...sm
I don't think that crumb cake has had his trial yet.
Individual independent investigation
I agree it is important to look at raw facts and draw conclusions for yourself. So much of what we see and hear out of the mainstream media is slanted to one side or the other. I believe it is very important for one to get info from independent sources in order to draw enlightened conclusions. I think it's naive at best to trust solely the mainstream media and even partisan sources exclusively for your news. Things can be spun so many different ways. This is one area where we agree.
I said I prefer to wait for the investigation and
Letting an official process play itself out is what open-minded, objective people do before they make judgments.
News on the hacker investigation
Update: FBI serves search warrant against UT student in Palin case Becky Simmons Updated: 9/22/2008 5:40:46 AM Posted: 9/18/2008 4:53:06 PM
The FBI is stepping up its investigation into the possibility that a University of Tennessee student hacked into the personal e-mail of Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
A person who identified himself as a witness tells 10 News that agents with the FBI served a federal search warrant at the Fort Sanders residence of David Kernell early Sunday morning. Kernell lives in the Commons apartment complex at 1115 Highland Ave.
David Kernell is the son of Mike Kernell, a Democratic state representative from Memphis.
A Department of Justice spokesperson confirmed there has been "investigatory activity" in Knoxville regarding the Palin case, but she said there are no publicly available search warrants, and no charges have been filed.
A separate law enforcement source confirmed to 10 News that a search warrant was served on Kernell's apartment.
According to the witness, several agents arrived at The Commons of Knoxville around midnight.
They presented their badges upon entering Kernell's apartment, where several students were having a party, and took down their names.
The witness tells us they asked him and those who did not live in the unit to go outside. He believes the investigators took about 1.5 to 2 hours taking pictures of everything inside the apartment.
Witnesses say Kernell and his friends fled the apartment when the FBI agents arrived.
Kernell's three roommates were also subpoenaed, and must testify this week in Chattanooga, according to the witness.
Knoxville blogger and WBIR contributor Terry Frank has posted what she says are images from Kernell's Facebook page.
Numerous web sites say someone going by the name "Rubico" has admitted to hacking Palin's email. According to www.wired.com, "Rubico" made the claim in an internet posting. This person said it was easy to access Palin's yahoo account by using information like her zip code and birthdate. Various people on the internet have quickly associated Rubico with David Kernell.
Previous StoryThe son of state Rep. Mike Kernell has been contacted by authorities in connection with a probe into the hacking of personal e-mail of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Kernell confirmed on Thursday.
Kernell, a Memphis Democrat, said his 20-year-old son David had been contacted by authorities investigating the hacking of Palin's personal email account.
The FBI and the Secret Service started a formal investigation on Wednesday into the hacking.
David Kernell is a student at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Mike Kernell said he spoke to his son on Thursday, as he does on a regular basis.
Kernell otherwise declined to comment, or discuss his son's whereabouts and whether he was in custody.
Reports that Palin's e-mail had been hacked bounced across blogs and into the news on Thursday.
O is not under investigation for voter fraud
First of all, "voter fraud" is a bit hard to prove BEFORE the election. ACORN has been targeted by right-wingers for the past 38 years, since the day of its inception. While I do not condone it, this comes as no surprise that poverty-stricken workers who are paid by the signature and have quotas would turn in falsified statements. Barack Obama did not tell them to do that.
Nobody is swallowing anything, including your deluded ramblings. Those soup kitchen patrons, rock concert audiences and homeless are American voters with much more human dignity than you are able to display. We do not live under a Nazi fascist system. Their votes are equal to yours.
The kind of hatred you hold says a lot about you. You have a flock mentality. Original thought or ideas are beyond our grasp. It takes a lot of energy to harbor that kind of hate. Your life will be cursed until you let that go, and your campaign will be doomed to failure if you give Americans so little credit as to think that anyone in their right mind would want to join you and subscribe to such trash.
By the way, just how is McCain going to fix that pesky economic crisis you are trying so diligently to avoid acknowledging?
Obama wants a thorough and unbiased investigation and so he sm
has called for a special prosecutor.... you know Acorn is signing up dems and repubs...these repubs are so desperate that they are even turning off their long time followers.
More investigation into the Palin "decoration"
Even Keith Obermann doesn't think this is right and I haven't agreed with him in about 2 months. Luckily the secret service or FBI is investigating this house. Not a hate crime? Right! As KO says "It's not the spirit of Halloween, it's the spirit of hate".
http://www.newsday.com/topic/la-me-palineffigy29-2008oct29,0,6159217.story
All living human beings should not be made into a "display like this" no matter who they are. I just posted this message because a new update is that the FBI or secret service is investigation.
Maybe they should also investigate that lady who put "death" standing behind Obama as a display too.
People can be dispicable.

Republican Congressman Breaks Ranks, Joins Demand for Documents on Downing Street Memos

Congressman Jim Leach (R, Iowa) has informed Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D, California) that he will co-sponsor her Resolution of Inquiry into Bush Administration communications with the U.K. about Iraq at the time of the Downing Street Memos. Leach is the first Republican member of Congress to publicly support a demand for an inquiry into the Bush Administration's pre-war claims. The 131 congress members who have signed Congressman John Conyers' letter to the President about the Downing Street Memo are all Democrats. The 11 Senators who have asked the Senate Intelligence Committee to do the investigation it committed to in February 2004 but never did are all Democrats. The Resolution, H. Res. 375, is a privileged resolution which must be brought to a vote in the House International Relations Committee by September 16th, or Lee is permitted to demand a vote of the full House. Fifty-two Democrats, including Lee, have co-sponsored the Resolution. Leach is the first Republican to join them, and he is a member of the International Relations Committee.. The International Relations Committee has 27 Republican members and 23 Democratic members. Thus far 10 of the Democrats have co-sponsored the Resolution. If the other 13 vote for it as well, then along with Leach, one more Republican vote will be needed for a tie, or two more for passage. Leach has questioned Bush's war policies for years and was one of five Republicans in May to vote for Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey's amendment requiring an exit strategy. Another of those five, Congressman Ron Paul of Texas, also serves on the International Relations Committee. Congressman Leach has broken the silence of the Republican Party on the Downing Street Minutes, said John Bonifaz, Co-Founder of the After Downing Street Coalition. His willingness to co-sponsor Congresswoman Barbara Lee's Resolution of Inquiry is bound to make the White House nervous. It is not possible for the President to paint this demand for documents as coming solely from his opponents. This is a demand for the truth. Did the president deliberately deceive and mislead the United States Congress and the American people about the basis for going to war against Iraq? We as a people -- from Crawford to Des Moines to Washington, DC, regardless of our political persuasion, deserve to know the answer to that basic question. Congress returns to Washington from its summer break on September 6, said David Swanson, Co-Founder of the After Downing Street Coalition. The first 10 days will test the Democrats' ability to stand together and challenge the Bush Administration, as well as Republicans' willingness to break ranks on an issue where public opinion has diverged widely from White House policy. The Obama campaign welcomes the investigation. nm

Actually that's not the complete story...
You did not mention that when Summersby was dying of cancer she stated that it had been a romantic affair after all and wrote about it in her book. This contradicted what she had earlier stated. Who knows what really happened, and does it really matter? I doubt it. It only proves that we're all flawed humans, even some Republicans!!
Please do complete a list
of Obama's so-called life-time experienced and then list Palin's. The only thing he has over her is he is in Washington and she is not....which IMHO is refreshing. Maybe we need someone who hasn't been corrupted by Washington. I still do not see how you people keep saying Obama has experience....HE DOESN'T!!!! You can't complain about Palin not having experience if you are for Obama because you are only bashing your own candidate......although you people refuse to see that. I can't help but chuckle.
No, it's not complete......still in the courts
Obama and hs lawyer have tried to get this entire thing dismissed but to no avail. I guess this judge can't be bought. We'll see.
They have to complete 40 hours of
community service each year. The district provides a list of opportunities for them to chose from. If they want to do something that is not on the list, such as initiate their own project, they simply have to have it approved beforehand to be sure it will count toward their credits. Scouting activities, NHS CS commitments, etc., all count toward this requireement.
I am a complete cipher
yet you know what I would do in any given situation? That is the kind of mindless reactionary, partisan thinking that dug this country in a pit.
This post is not complete without this

Bush in shirt sleeves..2nd day in office, if I am recalling KO's report from last week correctly.
There are complete morons
on both sides of the fence here. There are just as many crooked and ignorant dems as there are pubs. Once again, I wish you guys would stop playing party lines and actually see particular people for who and what they are instead of giving them free passes just because of their party. If you would take your blinders off, you would see that both parties have screwed us and they only complain about spending when it is the other party in control. Get a clue!
Isn't Fitzgerald's grand injury investigation into Rove, et al.
about to come to an end soon?
I think October is going to be a very interesting month.
She's under investigation by her state for corruption and McCain still picks her?

But you complete ignored the rest of the post....
I am just shaking my head. It is amazing to me that anyone would think God is okay with abortion. I believe he is okay with personal choice, of course I do, my faith is based greatly on that belief. Someone makes a choice when they take any life, inside the womb or outside. That does not mean God condones murder. You are representing that the Bible, and therefore God, condones abortion, and I cannot wrap my mind around that. To follow your line of reasoning, I should be able to steal from you and not have the government interfere because it is my choice to steal from you and I have to answer only to my maker. If a person breaks into your house (his choice) and rapes you or kills you, (his choice), then he should be free to do so and only have to face his maker. Can you not see how destructive that line of thinking can become? You think that is ridiculous, but I promise you that 20 years ago people thought abortion was ridiculous, same sex marriage would horrify my parents...if left unchecked, horrible things can happen. The amazing thing is, the moral compass becomes so skewed that the horrible becomes the acceptable. As I said before, that kind thinking is what helped a madman rise to power, and thousands upon thousands of people either jumped on the bandwagon or turned their heads and condoned something horrific, on the premise that a whole race of people were inferior and subhuman and therefore it was all right to exterminate them. THAT is what happens when people begin to devalue life. I do not want that to EVER happen again, to ANYONE. I realize that is probably falling on deaf ears because I will get the rote I don't believe it is life again and you are unable to draw the parallel. You see, that is a fundamental difference between you and me...I care about what happens to you as an individual and what happens to this country and every person in it, so I gave it one last shot. It is hard for me to just walk away. But walk away I shall, because sometimes you have to. We shall have to agree to disagree, but I will keep standing for what I believe in and calling wrong what I believe is wrong, just as you do. God bless, Maryland Gal.

Perhaps a complete history of this issue
is in order. I find a lot of "cut and paste" abounding in our world and you never get the complete TRUTH. I want the real McCoy before I would even venture to speculate on this issue. I can't imagine anyone would want to make porn available to children - perhaps the argument was about a lot more than this and the most shocking version was condensed to something such as this. And, people like this version so they refuse to educate themselves further.
I agree. This is a complete and utter...... sm
show of lack of respect for his family. They have lost a loved one and should be left alone in their time of grief. While I don't agree with his chosen profession, his family is not to blame and they are the ones being hurt by this, not him.

You wrote: 'Besides, a lot of atheists who try to disprove that God ever existed will usually come to the conclusion that there is too much evidence to prove that He does exist. It usually scares the you know what out of them and they become converts.'
And you know this how? I would say show me the evidence to back up this ridiculous claim, but I already know you have none. It's your opinion/religious propaganda, and it's blantantly false. You also have it backwards. You're implying people start out being athiest, then convert to religion. It's the other way around, when religious or secular people start questioning all the improbable/impossible things the bible is overflowing with, in addition to all of its inconsistenties and outright contradictions.
Forgive me if I doubt that you're an expert on athiests, and forgive me if I doubt your critical thinking skills, because religion frowns upon that - you're not supposed to question god or think for yourself, just obey his commands, or should I say, various human interpretations of his commands...
If there was indeed
'too much evidence to prove that He does exist' then everyone would believe in him. How could anyone deny it? They couldn't. But that's just it, there is no evidence to prove it, whereas there actually IS scientific evidence to the contrary, that you apparently are unaware of or haven't investigated.
Instead, you're willing to believe something based only on 'faith.' In every other area of your life where you'd want or even *demand* facts, proof, or concrete evidence before believing something so important, with religion (some) people are all too willing to blindly accept it on faith.
BTW, an athiest doesn't have to DISprove god (you can't prove a negative, anyway), you have to prove that he *does* exist, and you can't. And wouldn't you think if he really existed, he would prove it to the entire world's satisfaction anyway and put an end to the debate and all the relious wars, conflict, genocide, misery, suffering, etc? He'd rather we kill each over it? I think not. It makes no sense.
You also wrote: 'You can say all you want, but you just can't argue with a completely changed life'
Yes, I can argue it. You changed your life because *you* wanted to change it. You! Not some mystical, magical, invisible being in the sky who cares about your every thought and action. People change their lives for the better every day, without religion. IMO, if you hadn't found religion, you would've kept looking until you found something else that worked for you, and it probably would've been a lot healthier than the brainwashing, closed-minded, divisive phenomenon that is religion.

Keith Olbermann is a complete fruitcake!
He sits and states that Texas gets 88% back of every dollar they send to the federal government but another states (midwest) only gets 40+%. Is he really that brainwashed? Does he not even think for a moment that Texas has to pay for all the illegals in their state and bear the burden of all the freebies these freeloaders gets? Healthcare, food, clothing, housing, and the lists go on and on to the tune of millions and millions. You better believe they need to get EVERY penny back... as far as I am concerned, 88% should be 100%.... BTW we all should be keeping our 100% earnings. Constitution states individual citizens are NOT to pay taxes to federal government, ONLY corporations.
Olbermann would kiss the backside of Hitler and bow at his feet if he were still alive. This man is absolutely sickening!
