That's your rationale?

question regarding Obama's tax rationale

I make $50,000 per year. Have 2 kids in college.  Single (husband deceased 17 years ago).  I haven't dated or had a significant other since then.  Just working hard for my kids.  I call myself a 'social conservative.'  Both kids have scholarships and grants, but have to maintain a high GPA to keep them, so I don't ask them to work.  They've done enough just to earn this financial assistance and it's important they keep it.

Even though they have most of their tuition paid for, I still have enormous expenses (books, food, living expenses, etc.) just as I have for the last 17 years.

So, can you tell me why I should be penalized by paying a higher percentage in taxes than someone/couple whatever making over $250,000?  If I made that much, I would be more than happy to pay a higher tax percentage.  Just trying to budget for groceries and pay bills on time is a true challenge. I've done nothing wrong.  I'm not a rocket scientist.  I'll never be smart and/or savy enough to earn $250,000.

I know people make bad decisions and many take advantage of the system, but I don't and neither do a lot of Americans... So... should I be penalized for bad luck?  Should I be penalized because I decided to dedicate my life to my kids instead of kissing all the frogs to find a 'daddy' who makes $250,000?

I just don't understand the problem with putting 250,000 and over in a higher tax bracket.  Hell yeah they work hard, but so do I.  But it would be a lot easier to work on a $250,000 budget than $50,000  even paying a higher tax percentage.

Okay, flame.... tell me where I've gone wrong... and if you're a male who makes more than $250,000, are halfway goodlooking, and won't make me change my ways... email me LOL joking!!! I'm happy.  My life is wonderful.  My kids are great.  My daughter is/was working for the Obama campaign and canvassed this entire week and phone banked for the last 2 months (she's taking credit for his win, BTW). She wants new sneakers... ummm... can you wait until Christmas? or better yet... in Feb when I get my tax return???

Well, said my peace. I only browse here.  Never posted before.  This will probably be my last... I took today off so I indulged.  Anyhow, happiness and good luck to us all :-)
