on Somalia but, as you said, the past is the past and it is no use to revisit Somalia and Viet Nam over and over. All we are left with is what to do now and in the days to come. This is where we disagree. I feel I have to choose my battles. Other than Himself, no human can address all concerns on all sides all the time. We may help the Iraqi people over a very long period of time to arrive at some level of normalcy...I don't think so but anything is possible. That will be, however, at the cost of so many more lives and with an unsure outcome I can't see the value of staying. I think we could save, without American losses, thousands of lives in Dafur but we are too tied up in Iraq to do that. We have to choose our battles and Dafur is one that we could **win.** So, why are the people of Dafur more important than the Iraqis???, they're not, simple as that. The question for me is that when I see the human suffering that is prevalent all over this planet I feel I (if I was in charge) would have to make a decision as to where our service as Americans would garner the most good. We cannot be everywhere at once. As you know, this war sickens me more and more every day, but since I had no voice in its inception I will say I wish General Petraeus was the first general deployed, that the administration had listened to him when he said he needed however many troops he needed but that time has come and gone. The window of opportunity has closed. I have compassion for all of God's children but as a mere human, I cannot do everything I would like to; neither can our country. Some decisions have to be made now to salvage what we have left.

The $10,000 is taxed separately at the 14% (your tax bracket). That comes out to $1,400.
