My grandmother was a nurse and tended to many of these women as well. It broke her heart. Women who were too poor to pay for a "good doctor" perfoming abortions illegally and had to suffer at the hands of an amatuer or worse. There were many midwives in the south that perfomed procedures, and they were well known to women in the area. But, they were not available to everyone.
Abortion has gone on for 100s or 1000s of years, and will continue to go on whether legal or not, so lets keep women safe and keep it legal. I also am not "pro-abortion" and I don't know anyone who is. But, I don't think it is any of my business if someone decides to terminate a pregnancy. If people are so opposed to abortion, then don't have one!!
