Things have improved for us. I was able to finally find another job - but I make $25,000 a year less than I did before so it has been a struggle. My husband on the other hand is still out of work after almost 3 years and is still facing at least 2 or 3 more surgeries. Yes, he gets workmans compensation, but it is not much once the child support comes out (which was based on his previous income, not the new income) and it is only 60% of the original pay he was making.
I don't feel sorry for myself - stuff happens... what gets me though is that all these people who talk about the moochers and the people who are unwilling to work and that is not always what the problem is.
How many people do you know who would rather not work and draw a check for 200 a month and maybe get 300 a month in foodstamps, but have to sit in line for that for hours and hours? I mean, come on, welfare is not what these people claim it is. Maybe once upon a time, but not anymore. In fact, in my state, you are limited to 2 years on welfare for a lifetime and then you have to work or go to school for what little bit you get. Then you have to pay part of what you did get back when you get off of it.
Sorry that this was kind of long, but I get upset thinking about the government buying peoples houses for them so that they can afford to stay in them. If that is not spreading our wealth, then what is?
