I often wonder, if the Iraqi people actually had the "freedom" to choose for themselves, whether they would choose the current situation imposed by Bush or if they would choose Saddam Hussein.  I often wonder if they actually felt safer and more secure under Hussein's rule, enjoying all the amenites you pointed out that they no longer have.

If what I suspect is true, that actually make Bush WORSE than Hussein, and that's a very frightening thought.

As far as why they are posting here, it's because some of them have no desire to intelligently debate an issue.  Instead, some of them would rather bash anyone who isn't identical to them in philosophy, political beliefs or religious beliefs.  They complain on their own board if a liberal posts there, but if they can't start a fight there and label entire groups of people, pretend to know what they are all thinking, and JUDGE others (probably against their own religious beliefs), they're not happy.  Some of them certainly do give new meaning to the term "bully pulpit."

As far as Democrats acting like Republicans used to, I totally agree, which is why I'm a registered Independent.  It's not that I'm changing with my platform and beliefs -- I'm just waiting for THEM to remember what they stand for.

I don't want someone who has a different religious belief than I have to plan the size of my family. And just forget the abortion argument for a second.  Many of these people would outlaw birth control if they could.  Indeed, there are actually pharmacists who are refusing to fill birth control pills due to their own religious beliefs.  I remember being on the pill for purely MEDICAL reasons to regulate me because I bled all the time. These people have no right interfering in my medical, reproductive health. 

Some of these are the same people who claim to love this country so much, yet they would prefer to see other countries exceed our excellence and knowledge in the area of science because of their narrow-minded views on stem cell research. Again, if a medical cure through stem cell research is available to any of my family members, I'm going to encourage it. These people have no right interfering with my family, either.

But some of them simply don't like to actually discuss issues because they can't.  They blindly follow their leaders like sheep, and their level of intelligence is reflected in their posts.  Just read the juvenile ones some of them have posted on this board. All they can do is call names and accuse anyone who isn't JUST LIKE THEM of being unpatriotic, immoral, etc., etc., etc.

Hopefully, people will wake up and more people will vote the next time before this country becomes a theocracy.  God knows respect for and reliance on the Constitution is dwindling in today's political climate.

Bush isn't only wrecking Iraq.  He's wrecking the United States, too.
