I have the very same childhood memories as you.  I always remember Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays as messages that convey good, happy, peaceful thoughts.  It's only since we've had  such a *uniter* in the White House that the American people have become so divided, and only under HIS reign could the term *Happy Holidays* be twisted and turned so far out of recognition that instead it is now considered to be a hateful message from *the enemy*.
