Can we bring the board back to the true reason for the board
Can we get the political board back to the true purpose of this board – to share opinions of why we like our candidate. Not bash and cut down others because they don’t agree with you.
I stayed away from this board for the past couple days because anyone who had anything positive to say about Sarah Palin got slammed, bashed, kicked down, etc. After awhile I found it all too draining, and was not seeing any reason to come. Yes, I did see some of it towards people who favored Barack Obama, but if you read the posts again it is mostly towards anyone who favored Sarah Palin/John McCain.
I thought the political board was for posting information regarding politics and candidates. What I have seen for the past few days is that it has been an attack board. Especially if you have anything positive you want to share about Sarah Palin. You say something good about her and you get attacked, you answer back, and you get attacked more, and then when you get mad and pretty much say stop attacking me, they come back with this “Geez, I’m allowed to have an opinion”.
Another thing I am tired of seeing is the slanderous, hate filled, really off the wall comments about Sarah Palin. The latest was something about her daughter actually had her baby. Talk about just bizarre comments. I thought what’s next, she’s an alien from another planet? The more I kept reading the more the comments were getting just really weird and bizarre. Of course nobody ever having any proof of any of these allegations. I then came to realize that the posters were just trying to get a fight going.
I also saw posts that had nothing to do with politics but attacking a poster named Sam. Again, probably trying to get another fight going for no good reason and on things that have nothing to do whatsoever with politics. I’ve read “Sam is like an annoying nat that you sway away”, “Sam, please let me know where you work” or “she must have her quota” or “sam is to the politics board as oracle is to the” This childish rhetoric is getting old. I’m not defending sam she is a big girl and I can see by her posts she can take care of herself, but my point is that this has nothing to do with politics. If you want a fight maybe you could request that the administrator create a separate “fight and degrade” section.
I’ve read the administrators post a couple different times called Beware of Flaming. She/he said as long as we realize that not everyone is going to agree we shouldn’t wear our feelings on our sleeves and a little more oversight on here would be good. Let people express his or her opinion and move on. If you don’t like someone just ignore that person. “It’s not rocket science, you know” (I liked that statement) 
I consider posting on this board a privilege and not a right. If you don’t agree with something and you post that you don’t agree and state the facts why (and are civilized about it) that’s one thing, but when you bash and degrade others without showing proof and just want to start fights and belittle others it just seems a bit juvenile to me.
I come to the politics board to hear ideas and stuff (facts) about the candidates. That is how I’m learning about each one, but I don’t want to read people attack other posters for no good reason. I'd like to hear about Obama/Biden & McCain/Palin, but I want to hear facts.
If you like to fight so much why don’t you pick on people that you can fight to face to face.

Lately, all I've been seeing (again) is fighting over who is right or wrong and our freedoms being taken away. Doesn't anyone care to comment on news anymore or am I on the wrong board. I didn't think this was the gab board.
What about ACORN? Has anyone kept up with what is going on? Glen Beck has had a bunch of ACORN people on in the past 2 weeks and I haven't seen a single comment about it. O'Reilly also had 2 ACORN associates on last night and O'Reilly asked if they would open their books and, of course, the answer was "no." ACORN is being investigated in quite a few states, including ours, but haven't seen a single post on this. Whatever JTBB thinks of Fox News, at least they are trying to get down to the bottom of where the money came from for O's campaign, who handled the money, and where it went.
What about the nominee for the court? I have not seen a comment about that, either. What about her? Is she going to be sworn in and is she biased as some say?
(This one I hate to post but because of all the comments below but...) What about the voters of CA voting against gay marriage and now it's supposedly going to the Supreme Court? That's ridiculous. Since when is the Supreme Court allowed to overturn the voter's wishes? Can you imagine someone winning an election and a group sues and takes it to the courts and they overturn the election? Think about it.
O keeps stating things are getting better, but I'd like to see where. In my state, our county unemployment rate is now up to 9.8%. What about the so-called jobs that were created and, BTW, are temporary jobs, not considered "forever" jobs.
What about KOREA thumbing his nose at the world? Doesn't anyone care that this nut is threatening war against us? Doesn't anyone care that our troops are on high alert? Doesn't anyone care that he's playing with nuclear bombs and missles that could hit us some day?
I haven't seen a single post on the above. That, IMHO, is politics.

than you paid in when you draw it. SS was not based on getting out what you put in. Benefits were based on what you make in your lifetime. Its an insurance policy basically. You don't pay as much in for life insurance or any other insurance as you draw out. This is no different. Leave the elderly folks alone!

I saw a commercial for a shady law firm wanting to help people fight for their rights if they were denied what they "deserve" from SS. One of the reasons listed was "depression". That's right. Some people get a SS check just to be depressed, or be alcoholic, or drug addicted.
I personally know 3 people who should not be, but are, drawing SS; all of them under 40. Two of them have never worked a day in their life, two of them have supposed mental problems, one of them has a supposed health problem that prevents working but allows her to shop at the mall.  These 3 plan on drawing SS for the rest of their lives, and never working.
These are the freebies that anger me. People that have never paid in, can act special in front of doctors, and never get their case reviewed, just draw SS their whole lives. I've worked since I was 14 (PT until 18, then FT from then on). I'm 49. There won't be ANY SS left for me - because it all got given away to slackers who manipulate the system. And believe me, if it was up to me NOBODY would get a raise because it just makes the amount I will get at full retirement age of 67 (if they don't push it back to 75 by then!!!!) smaller and smaller....as it stands today when I do draw SS I'll only get 78 cents on the dollar for everything I PAID in my whole life. Sorry, none left for ME, we had to give MINE away to people whose whole lives have been a drain on society amd never paid a cent!
Plenty of people draw SS their whole life from the day they were born - like a few of octomom's brood! But its OK, let her keep popping out the preemies, I'll give away a few more cents on MY retirement dollars so that she can! This issue is not just about the elderly, so wake up and smell our future SS being squandered today!

He should've been tried years ago, and if found guilty should have assumed ground temperature many years ago. However, it looks like four subsequent administrations share the blame for this not just the Bush administration, but yes, more should've been done especially by the Bush administration to be sure justice was served in this case..

there are not many born conservatives. I think conservatism is something that ''grows on you,'' or something that you grow into. I was a teenager in the sixties, with many of the attitudes that implies. As I aged and became more responsible and and started to ''get it,'' got a real job and wanted promotions, began earning money and wanting to hold onto it, bought a house and cared about what happened to my neighborhood, etc., I became more conservative. I dont think I am the only one to become more conservative as I've aged. I suspect celebrities are the same. You can only be a free spirit so long. As the Nationwide commercials say: Life comes at you fast.

what difference does it make? But in an attempt to answer a loaded question, I thought these boards lent themselves more to ideologies than to politics. These boards are here even when elections are not. There is no "liberal party" and no "conservative party" that I am aware of. Do you only "Think Liberal" about politics? when the worker keeps less than 50% of his/her pay, it brings revolution. It is what this country was founded on. Under Obama's plans the average worker will get to keep .38 cents on the dollar. You will work 8-9 months of the year and not get one cent for it. Wow, that sure doesn't sound too good for the middle class to me, but under Obama's plan we should all be working for the "common good." Sound familiar to anyone? But personally, I see an even bigger issue here. Money is not the only riches we have. We Americans are rich in freedoms, and too many people are taking them for granted. People in this country are lining up to give away their freedoms to a charismatic new leader who promises "change." Things will change all right, but be careful what you wish for because you just might get it and it might not be what you expected.

Just because a Georgia congressman needs some publicity (like a 2-year-old, bad attention is just as good as good attention) and says something stupid, people jump all over it.
There are whackos in Congress, just as there are in the general public. A perfect example is Michele Bachmann who trashed Obama on national television, and when she saw it backfired on her, she quickly produced a commercial saying some nonsense about her words not always coming out right but her heart being in the right place. (And then she blamed the host of the show for tricking her into saying these outlandish things.)
After the election, she then went on to do a 180 and issued the statement below.
After suggesting that Barack Obama had anti-American views in an exchange three weeks ago with MSNBC host Chris Matthews, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) told Politico Thursday that she was "extremely grateful that we have an African-American who has won this year." She called his victory "a tremendous signal we sent."

What they all need to do is not come together and accept whatever a president throws out there. Most Americans doesn't have a clue that BIG government is NOT a good thing. They actually believe the government should take care of them, that the government is to make all decisions for this country. No one ever told them that government is not supposed to be involved in their lives and no, it is not my place to sit back and be all one united group that just lets government ram anything and everything down my throat.
If you want to sit back, hold hands, and sing a little tune, then you do that. I do not care for more government; when has government ever solved a problem? Since when has government ever took your money and done something besides blow it? You think your government knows better than you how to spend your money? You think you should be paying income tax in the first place? Anyone who has fallen for "it's patriotic to pay taxes" garbage is the reason this country is where it is to this day. They hand it all over, sit back and say "we should all unite"......and do what? If you want to unite for something, then unite to tell YOUR government enough already. You don't not want more government, more taxes, more social problems, which is exactly what Obama wants. We've got enough social problems and wasted money. You want more? I don't.
You want to come together, then come together to get government out of our lives. But what do you see? Just the opposite. So many Americans are just to used to having someone else tell them how/what to do, they don't think for themselves anymore and they sit quaking in their boots when they hear a candidate that stands up and says enough government, no more government. It scares them to death because all they know is government interference in their lives. They actually believe that is their government's job, to make all their laws and tell them how to live.

I just love it when people try to wallow around in righteous, indignant self pity. If you're so concerned about the plight of the Jewish people, why don't you go and help out your grandmother?
Ask yourself this question. Since Great Britian and the UN thought so highly of Jews as to actually declare them a separate nation, why didn't they create that nation in Europe? My guess is that there were 2 reasons. Number one would have to be the *not in my backyard phenomenon.* The other was simply as a controlling interest in the region. The reality is that Britian didn't give a rat's butt about the Jews. They just picked the most susceptible minds (at the time) to carry out their plans. They sold the idea of backing Isreal through religion and still do, just like the US does. One big clue to this is exactly how much we actually back Israel. We have brought them up to the level of nukes while they are still just fighting against homemade bombs. We (the US) look the other way when Israel kills hundreds of Palestinians, but will run a prime time special if 2 (not 200, just 2) Israelis are killed. Yeah, that's a fair fight. We back other leaders in the middle east, but only to a point (Saddam for example). Once they get to a point where they may actually become a threat to Israel (a holding interest for the west) we always manage to call them a threat for some other reason and level the playing field.
I really wish people would look at the big picture on this one. From a political standpoint, Israel is nothing more than a bishop in a chess game.
