Not because it is written in the Bible, because it just IS. It always was and still is.
I do not hate them, I would never do something bad to them, I wish them all the best, but I just would not even socialize with them, especially as a mother with kids.

Too many posts to reply to so I'll reply here - I read the article. This is not a once in awhile family gathering, BBQ or picnic. This is weekly business meeting. Yes, that's right - business. Religion is a business. If you just had a few people every once in awhile coming to your house that would be one thing, but the article stated they have regular meetings in the home. I think the person who wrote the article did a little bit of "fibbing" with saying they were asked if they say "praise the lord" and if they pray. Could have happened, but I highly doubt it (again that's JMO). The concern the county has is that the home is being used as a business without a business permit. What they are doing is something that should be held in churches - which by the way ALL churches should be taxed seeing as they are all businesses.
I do agree very much with your assessment that these are the same people trying to take away the rights of the LGBT community. It does seem to be a one-way avenue. For the most part all the communities I have lived in the Christians want their rights, but they are also the first to want to remove the rights of other groups if they don't coincide with their beliefs.
If religious people want to have a small gathering in their home that's fine, but bringing a congregation of people into your home is a business, especially if it is on a regular basis.
People have bible meetings all the time in their own homes, but they don't have them on a regular basis and they don't have large groups making them stand out. They should keep their religious assemblies where it belongs - in the churches - and because its a business it should be taxed.
One other note is that the article mentioned what about tupperware parties or baseball games. Well those are not regular business meeetings going on.
I am sick of the hypocracy they have. I'm tired of hearing about "poor us, we can't pray, we can't do this, we can't do that, their trying to take away our rights". Yet everytime when I hear what is really going on I find the story has been exagerated to fit the "poor us" philosophy. Good example is this story. It started out with "poor us, we can pray in our own homes", when the truth comes out they are holding regular business meetings with their congregation meeting at their home residence. Two entirely different things.

I am a born again, Bible believing Christian. I agree that homosexuality is WRONG! I don't want my grandkids taught this stuff in school and I don't want them exposed to it if I can help it. The Bible says its an abomination.
I am also the mother of a gay, 35-year-old son. He knows how his family feels about it and he does not expose us to his boyfriends.
That being said, I think you are living in a box and are being very cruel. There are people being murdered and tortured all the time because they are homosexuality. Quite like the KKK who murdered black people. To say this doesn't happen is just a little peek into how really ignorant and uninformed you are.
Please see my other note to you about the so-called Rev. Fred Phelps out in Kansas. This man is no more a Reverend than I am. He is nothing but a hate monger who has a congregation made up mostly of his own relatives. It is nothing but a cult and a front for violence and hate against homosexuals. That is no more "christian" than homosexuality itself. Mr. Phelps and his "bunch" bring nothing but shame and reproach upon the cause of Christ.

Patty, first of all I would like to say that I also share in your views that homosexuality is wrong. It is my religious right to feel this way, political right or just plain right of opinion and I would hope people would not attack me for my beliefs. I just wish Patty that instead of getting yourself worked up you would pray for God to lead you in the direction that you could HELP people better understand the Bible and to better understand the pathway to Heaven.
Throughout the years Christians have gotten a lot of backlash as being hypocritical, judgmental and things along those lines. A lot of people are on the fence as to whether or not they believe in God or believe in the Bible and then a Christian comes along that instead of being supportive and showing how much we and God loves them, they point out and chastise their sins. That is what you are doing and I personally do not believe that any of your statements made on this board would make a person see homosexuality as wrong and choose to follow a path of God.
You make many statements saying that God tells you to hate the sin. God tells us to be his servants. Hating the sin Patty, would be you NOT committing this sin. It is not you not buying particular music or you pointing out to everyone of such a sin. If you are wanting to explain yourself, how about post the Bible versus you are referring to, pray about it and let people make their own decisions. You cannot force your beliefs on anyone.
I understand that you said you would not buy this young man's music. That is your right. Would you sit by him if he came to your church? Would you INVITE him to come to church with you? How about invite him to Sunday dinner at your house after church?
My husband and I are both are very involved in ministry work and we have helped so many people with many different sins. I never look at those people by what sins they have committed. I do not want them looking at me by what sins I have committed either. We are God's servants. We are to serve him by bringing people TO him, by spreading His word, by showing them what joy it brings you to be a Christian and how happy we are to walk with the Lord. We are not God's police to point out sins of others. We are not to judge others. We are not to imply that one sin would be worse than another one because they are all equal in our Father's eyes.
I will pray for you Patty and I will pray for understanding for other people as well.

I also know that homosexuality is against God's word and is WRONG. BUT to say that no-one is being killed over this, is living in a tunnel! There have been many stories of murders of folks just because they are homosexual.
To me, the worst example of this is the bunch out in Kanasas that go by the name of Westboro Baptist Church and the Rev. Fred Phelps! If this group could get away with murder, they would. But, I don't consider them a church at all, at least not a church as the Bible talks about, let alone a Baptist church. Tehy are nothing more than a hate group like the KKK hiding behind a church sign. This group brings shame and reproach upon teh name and the cause of Christ.

Let me tell you, over 41 years, I have had a pretty healthy diet of words. I'm sure MTTL has shed many tears and prayed many prayers over this. She is no more responsible for her son's sins as an adult as I am for my sons' sins as adults. California has a tremendously LARGE population of gays and most gays know Christian beliefs do not approve of gay marriage; California has already shot that down even though some are still trying to push their agendas/lifestyle off on everyone else as acceptable.
It is no secret that the gay rights push out there is tremendous and no doubt a lot of hate for the Christian community, so if you think it's a far fetched idea that gays/lesbians are behind this, you really need to open your eyes. Bet if we could see behind the walls of their neighbors, you would find gays who know they are holding a Bible study and THEY are the ones that started this crap in the first place.
You're right, Christians have sat back and let this happen because we all get hammered when we speak out against homosexual behavior, but those that have spoken out against it in California will be subjected to being singled out and gays trying to cause trouble for them.....that isn't so far fetched to believe.
Friends of mine who live out there do say they too strongly believe gays reported this Bible study they didn't like in the first place and have strong reasons to believe this. They also know a great majority of those in political positions are gay and will do everything in their power to also push the Bible studies to stop..... period! Anywhere!

And is moving their plant to MEXICO. It's situations like this where NAFTA should be renegotiated and remove any profit incentive for companies to take away American jobs like this.

The plant also makes 5th Avenue and Zagnut candy bars and Jolly Rancher hard candies.
The nation's largest candy manufacturer announced two years ago that the plant would close as part of a wider move by Hershey to eliminate 1,500 jobs and one-third of its existing production lines, shifting more manufacturing to contractors in the United States.
Some workers will stay on for a few more weeks to close the plant.

But you really can't find much on this subject, prolly cuz the powers that be don't want you to know, or else it isn't newsworthy to them, and thus it's hard to find the info. You know how that goes.
Fox News is middle of the road these days, not really far right, as most would have you believe. But they still report on subjects that most other far left news outlets ignore.
As for any of the bailouts, I was for the first one the way it was first presented as a three page document...however, it quickly became out of touch and out of hand....it no longer resembles(d) what it was originally for. All of them are worthless, throwing good money after bad, so to speak.
All they have done is pave the way for Obama to create bigger and bigger government, and take more freedoms away from all of us. Like his people have said recently....."we will let no good crisis go to waste"....they will use any and all to further their socialist causes....calling them by any other name, until everything is owned and run by the government. It's a sad day in America, and I hope we can hold out and hold on through the next stormy four years.

I don't know whether I like that or not because basically I do not see a difference. Only time will tell. I hope Obama will do a good job, I really really really do. This country is just in shambles. Am I worried - oh my gosh yes because of who he has been picking to fill his cabinet. Correct me if I'm wrong, because I may certainly be wrong, but I don't see him picking any conservatives in his cabinet, but yet when he was campaigning he was saying he was the only candidate who can bring the two sides together and he will choose both liberals and conservatives for his positions, yet I have yet to see any conservatives. I most certainly do not want more of the same, but I know there are a lot of conservatives who could do a good job, but to me I feel like he is just pushing them aside, which I feel is going to lead to such a division in the country. I still don't know what it is the Clinton have over him, but for him to pick her - oh my gosh!!!!!
I think I just take offense (even though I'm not conservative - I'm an independent with some conservative viewpoints and some liberal viewpoints) but I take offense when one side is called "the enemy" and people lump everyone into one group.
I do hope he does good. I hope he can get some jobs created and the economy back on track.

So many economists have said this so-called stimulus will not work. All we can do is take a wait and see attitude and hope it will, but I have my doubts. After all, you and I and the many millions of taxpayers, plus our children, grandchildren and great-children will be paying for years to come.
O is already workintg on another stimulus plan if this one doesn't work. He has already "spent" more money in the few weeks he has been president than any other president in history. He is too close to FDR, who everyone now knows did not help, but hinder the American economy when he was president.
I had hope, but just watching the stock market fall into the abyss not seen in how many years, tells me they feel it will not work, either.
I just don't know where we are headed, but I'm very uncomfortable with what is going on lately. Every time they (Geithner, O, Gibbs) talk, the market falls. That's not a good sign. Geithner has no idea what's he's doing. O uses fear tactics all the time, and Gibbs certainly does not know what is going on.
So, I tend to disagree iwth you. I no longer have any hope that things will get better.
Even our governor thinks this will "fix everything." He's braggin our state is getting $6B. I looked it up. Our state is only getting half of that. Another frigging lie from a democratic governor.
So, sorry if I don't agree, but I don't. This country is going down to its ankles and unless they stop passing stimulus plans, it's the end (hubby's thoughts, which I tend to agree with).
