That was my dad's specialty and he was GOOD at it. We only got it once, maybe twice a year because of the cost of the meat and a special chili powder he used. He wouldn't use just any old chili powder. Wish I could have a bowl of it again.

I was pretty much going to start a thread that said the same thing.
There was one main reason I voted for Barack Obama: Because I was sick and tired of Clintons and Bushes. I felt they were merely opposite sides of the same coin. (I particularly was uneasy with Papa Bush's "adoption" of Bill Clinton and the unusual "coziness" that developed between the two families.)
I really truly believed Obama and believed IN Obama. My first "red flag" went up when he appointed Rahm Emanuel as his chief of staff. I realize that Israel is supposed to be our friend, but do you realize just HOW many government appointees have dual citizenship with Israel (starting with Michael Chertoff, who's running "Homeland SECURITY")? Now, I believe that Emanuel revoked his Israeli citizenship when he turned 18, but there are a BUNCH of other ones that still hold dual citizenship. At some point, I think we have to present somewhat of a neutral stance in the Middle East, and I would question a government employee's loyalty if that person holds dual citizenship with another country.
Then when I heard that the Hillary for Secretary of State thing WASN'T just a rumor, I almost fell out of my hospital bed. I remember during the debates how hawkish she was regarding Iran and so willing she seemed to be to start yet another Bushlike Middle East War (confirming, in my mind, the "two sides of same coin" thoughts I had).
I HATE the negative "gut feelings" I'm starting to have about Obama. I HATE the fact that after almost eight years of mounting distrust of this government, I'm going to be skeptical about the person I thought was better even before he takes office.
I hope I'm wrong. If I'm right, however, I don't see much point in ever voting again. If the thread below regarding the one-world government comes to fruition, though, voting may not ever be an issue again in the former United States.

My biggest fear is that our country will end up turning on Israel which would sure put us on the wrong side in the end times.....which I think are near.

Well, sometimes I feel animals are given more rights than humans. But that said, we are talking about dogs and cats that are alive and viable. An 8-week fetus is hardly viable on its own, and again, I don't believe it is alive and I question the pain issue anyway. When looking at that research, it is more than a bit biased.
Can we call off the dogs
I just have to say that I did NOT want McCain as our next president. I am not pro-McCain....in case you missed it....I'm not conservative nor am I pro-McCain. I consider myself down the middle. There are some issues I'm very liberal with and some that I am conservative with.
With that said.....this board has become very one-sided and seemingly mean-spirited. My friend says this is because people are so fed up and so ready for a change........I am too, but my goodness, let's not be blinded with Obama's charisma. He will be hugely successful with some things and he will fail miserably with some things. That's the nature of politics. He's human. He will be affected by Washington politics. He's already backed down on one thing that he stated during the campaign (no lobbyists as advisors--now they can be but with restrictions).
I would rather look at things realistically and without rose-colored glasses. Let's call the dogs off Palin & MCain, take the high road, and look to Obama to be the great leader he promises to be.

We lived on soup given to us by a neighbor for 6 months. In return, hubby worked around the place for him (they were in their 70s). We would get a gallon of soup every other day. I must say, I did lose weight then.  Kids came first, then hubby, then me for the soup. I never want to be in that position again, but it looks like it may come to that. Thank heavens, I've been stocking up a bit. I'm no where near where I'd like to be food-wise, but better off than I was in the 80s when there was NOTHING.

Are you obsessed with gt? This post must have been from a while ago, I don't remember reading it. To actually spend time to find it and repost it, I don't know about that. I guess my point is, do you really think your reposting is changing anything political-wise when it comes to ideology and trying to open other's minds or understand the opposite political spectrum? What is your purpose of reposting something from weeks ago other than to cause disruption and conflict on the board and to actually try to cause hate which, from what I have read, the liberals posting on this board have been doing a good job trying to keep harmony. Can I make a suggestion, let it go.

And it's unfortunate, because even up until 9/11 Americans were virtually indivisible when it came to responding to tragedy and united in their compassion for the afflicted.
I for one have a lot of faith in Americans still - I know they have come and are coming to the aid of the Gulf Coast victims. I also think they have a right to question WHERE exactly our billions of dollars for Homeland Security went, when clearly nobody in authority was prepared for disaster even with two days' advance warning. What's up with that, we want to know - and we want answers.
To trivialize such an important issue by saying ooh you poopy haters is simply to make a mockery out of the concern nearly all Americans feel about what's happening now and what's going to happen when the next disaster comes to their own door.

It obviously was his first time on the board. He was there because a prior comment of his that was 1-1/2 years old was posted there out of context. He then was attacked for posting his initial response that was equally 1-1/2 years old.
Since you obviously have no respect for the moderator's rules, I think it's best if I don't continue feeding the trolls, especially unstable ones.
