First of all, Jewish people should not be condenmed for taking their religious holidays off. Unlike a lot of us, their religion means the world to them. I would never vote for a person (on McCain's ticket) that cannot even string together an intelligent sentence, i.e. Palin. What a disaster. You do know, don't you, that even conservatives are calling for her to step down, because of her lack of intelligence. Working in the medical field since the 60s (worked for oncologists) I know myself how deadly melanoma is and McCain's was found in his lymph glands the last recurrence. I think anyone that has seen her interviews, be they Hannity (totally for McCain) or the others (not sure where they stand) would see just what a diaster this is. I am a 65 year old white southern female and have already voted for Obama. I have told my husband this should be a landslide mostly because of McCain showing such lack of judgement in getting a totally unqualified female. Have you seen the video about the witch doctor in Palin's church with laying on hands of Palin and doing away with witches? Does that not scare the crap out of you? Google Alaska newspapers and you can get all the above there. The US is in dire straits and I would not add to the mess by even thinking about McSame/Palin.

You know, the same could be said about religion --- which is just another "choice." As in keep your sermons to yourself. Maybe I don't want my children exposed to fanatics who believe in a nonexistent being, but you guys just keep on preaching. The ironic thing about your post is that religion itself is a choice. It is a choice to believe. So, you think everyone else should abide by what you choose to believe -- as opposed to how they choose to live. Quite a double standard you have there.

Many Republicans on this board, including one in particular who shall remain nameless, continually accuse Barack Obama and the democrats of being socialist and possibly communist for supporting social programs to help our fellow Americans in need. Oldtimer is responding to those ridiculous accusations by posing the question about Jesus and socialism.

Getting serious means putting blame where it belongs.
Bush Sr., Clinton and Bush Jr. All of them had a hand in bringing this country to its knees.
Of course its going to take a long time to get our country out of this mess. This is not instantaneous, and the messes go way back to before Bush Jr. even got in the office. So with that said, it is time to stop blaming past presidents and start looking to the future. Yeah, it would be nice if magic could be spun. But it can't. Going back to Obama's campaign slogan "hope". We have to hope he can pull us out or at least get us started back on the right track. Truth is, he's not off to a good start.
So, time to put down to kool-aid and get a cup of coffee and come back to reality here with the rest of us.
