Regardless of party, they need to be reminded strongly

If you feel so strongly about this...sm
What should we do then? Keep policing Iraq. It's not even a war. Do you honestly believe this is the cure to all?
I do feel strongly about this....
a premature pullout would be promoted as a great victory by the jihadists and I believe would be disastrous. I still believe stabilization in Iraq will occur and we will be able to start downsizing our presence there to bare minimum. No, I do not believe it is the cure all. As long as there are Islamic jihadists out there, and there always will be danger, until their own who say they love peace rise up and police their own ranks. That is why I feel strongly that we should present a strong and united front, that we will not tolerate terrorism against us. I do honestly believe that Al Qaeda's fear that Bush would retaliate with more boots on the ground in terrorism-supporting countries...is why we have not been attacked on our own shores since we went into Iraq. The idea that Saddam had nothing to do with terrorism or Al Qaeda is ludicrous, but the media abd the left have convinced many that that is the case. A federal judge found in a civil case brought by a 9-11 family member that Saddam did provide material support and was involved in 9-11. A Clinton-appointed judge. There are reams of proof of how many terrorists he supported who lived freely in Iraq...Abu Nidal, Abu Abbas, of Achille Lauro fame, Abdul Rahman Yasin, first WTC bombing, his old buddy Al Zarqawi, and on and on and on...but I digress. That is why I am concerned that if we get an administration who shows weakness and appeasement it could and probably would result in another significant attack. Because I honestly believe that the majority of the Democrat/liberal/left or whatever the proper name is do not have a good grasp of the threat, and they are more interested in getting and retaining power than taking care of this country...again, an observation, my observation, based on actions and words out of their own mouths. And this is supported by continuing to say Saddam had nothing to do with terrorism...again demonstrating no concept of the threat. Yes, I do feel strongly, because I love this country and I fear what will happen to her, and all of us, when people in control have no concept of the threat we face. God bless!
Yes, I am strongly pro-life...
and I have said in numerous posts that I am not against insuring children. And I am NOT. What I am against is taxing all Americans to death to pay for all kinds of programs where the waste is unimaginable. There are thousands if not millions of women who made a living having babies...under Aid for Dependent Children. If you don't believe that, talk to some people in Human Services. They sign up 2nd and 3rd generations on AFDC or whatever they call it now. Those ladies will never work and they tell you they will never work, and I can promise you they are not bettering themselves so that they can keep health care for their children. And if you look at those children, I am thinking not a lot of that check every month goes to taking good care of the kids. My point is, trim the fat on existing programs that obviously are not working...don't make NEW taxes to pay for MORE programs that no one is going monitor either. There is plenty of money floating around out there in wasteful programs that could fund insurance for children without making even MORE taxes. And what I am saying to you is that at some point, the more people who get on programs and out of the work force, the less tax money there is going to be to take care of all the programs. That is all I am saying.
And another thing, you need to read the bill. It does give a lot of leeway for folks who could pay for private insurance for their children if they made it a priority. But why should they, if you and I are going to pay for it for them. Yes, I believe there are some people out there who would like to better themselves but will not so they can keep health care for their children. I can also tell you that there are as many out there who could provide health care for their children but will not because they think it is too high and they choose to spend the money elsewhere. Ugly, but true. So why didn't Congress send the bill to Bush that did not have that loophole provision in it? There is a really good question.
Sorry, strongly disgree.
Do not even get me started. I blame Clinton for the mess we are in for these banks and mortgage companies. Should say he started the ball rolling. I have info on that. Oh man, time for me to get off the board. I think he is a liar right through his teeth. He was caught and yet, everybody was in a trance and denial, but yes, that had to do with his morals and not with him running in office. Yet your character and moral values seem to go together. Later all.
Oh but I strongly disagree with you
Homosexual acts are harmful to your health, regardless of the age of the participant. Killing an animal for food isn't harmful? Wow, I bet the animal thinks it hurts quite a bit. ;-) Homosexual acts, if promoted, are harmful to our children, both, mentally and physically. To continue to say they harm no one is a misconception. Homosexuality and race are 2 different issues entirely. There is no comparison.
It reminded me, too......
and I agree, no lies. It's insulting, especially when you know their BS is going to be ferreted out.
I don't usually post here but feel strongly about this one sm
I'm a progressive Dem but I think Hillary is the only way Democrats can lose this election. I don't know a single Dem who likes her, at least in my area (WA state). She is such a divisive character (due to the Bill haters) that "central America" doesn't want her in any way, shape or form. At least that's what I see.
Yet you are strongly pro-life - don't you care
I'm not trying to attack you, but I think that is a good point. I care about children in the USA. I think we need to take better care of them. I couldn't go to sleep at night with a clear conscience if I didn't want healthcare for all American children. I think the pro-life cause is a moral issue, and I think the healthcare cause is a moral issue, and I'm surprised that more right wingers don't show more concern for the children that they so wanted to be born.
This bill is for middle-income people - not the poor. Did you ever think that many poor people stay that way because if they rise up to a higher income bracket they lose their healthcare? Maybe being able to make $50,000 (or whatever amount it is) and still being able to provide health insurance to their kids will inspire people to get that better job with the better pay.
The sources as you should be reminded come from
You could get smart and educate yourself. You can look all of this up; you will find it to be fact. The paper trail is there. Heck, even Obama's own "slip ups" came out of his own mouth but I suppose you're gonna tell me they had a double in there and he didn't say anything that should be a disturbing revelation to you.
Oh, yea. The other posters reminded me
I need a house. We are living in a basement, the front sided and open so we can have windows, but 3 sides under ground. This was the basement of the home we were going to build on top. Build this place for $10,000 using as much as we could from the old house that was flooded out in ྜ and had to build on higher ground even though we live on a hill.
We won't go into debt now because the county states our place is worth $100,00. Yeah, right. Try to get a loan or HELOC (which we would never do now). We'll live like this until we win the lottery. LOL
How many times do you have to be reminded
Guess you couldn't argue with anything I had to say so you picked on "your" versus "you're". If you going to be the spelling police then please stay off this board.
So you don't think I'm an MT because I spelled your wrong????? Talk about freaky that there are people with this kind of mindset. Is your (you're) a medical term? No. How about encephalopathy, rheumatoid arthritis, facet rhizotomy, essential hypertension, and how about millions of other "medical" terms.
Don't you know the difference between this board and an official medical report. Here, let me educate you. This here board that you are on is called MTStars. It has many different topics you can go to. You can gab about issues that concern you (non-political/religious), but if you want to have a political or religious discussion you come to one of these specialized boards. Now if you want to be spelling police you are not to come to this board. There are other sites where you can do that. If you type in some different terms in Google you might find one to your liking. Otherwise stay off this board.
Hence, because you evidently do not know the difference between MTStars gab/political boards and offical medical document I highly doubt you are an MT my dear.
I have been MT'ing for 10 years now, and you know what...I could give a rat's you know what whether or not you think I'm an MT because I spelled it your instead of you're.
And also don't presume to know what party I am, because your showing how true it is about people who assume.
Take your spelling police protocol elsewhere or don't come on the board at all.
I'm glad you feel strongly about him - see message
That is what America is about. Believing in a candidate and being allowed to express those opinions, and being allowed to express your opinion of why you dislike the other candidate. But we should not be tearing each other down because of who we believe is right or wrong for our next President. The bashing has gotten so nasty and for what purpose? Do people feel better if they call you ignor@ant and other nasty names, and then when you defend yourself they tell you your bashing them? There's just something not right about that. I too watched all the debates and that's is when I realized how many lies and twists is Obama going to tell. He'll say doesn't do negative campaigning but the commercials here are way way negative AND their on every hour or so. I'm getting bombarded all day and night (and yes it's both sides, but my point is Obama says he doesn't negative campaign and then I watch his negative campaign on TV. I'll tell you something...I don't believe either candidate. Otherwise my ballot would have been filled out and sent in. Obama has no integrity. He lost it all when he failed and continues to fail to produce documentation to show he is legitimate. He lost all integrity with me and others I know when he professed that those mean nasty republicans are picking on me. He plays the race card when it suits him. When he is losing on an issues he yanks out the race card. He is not truthful about his past acquantances, and he is not truthful about his plans. The reason I don't believe him on his tax thing (no new taxes) is for two reasons. One - Bill Clinton. He also said he will not raise taxes on middle class and literally within days of getting sworn in he passes the largest tax increase on middle income people. My tax rate when from 23% to 42%. Second - his voting record. He has voted to raise taxes on middle income in the past. What makes me believe he isn't saying this as a campaign strategy. So that is a few reasons why he lost credibility. He demands that McCains health records should be disclosed yet he won't disclose his (sorry a 1 page letter saying "he's healthy" doesn't cut it). He spends his time wildly running around suppressing information that as Americans we should see. Plenty of posters on this board earlier in the election were stating vehemently it's America's "right" to know about McCain's this or that, where he was born, health, etc, yet Obama has not proved this and everyone is giving him a pass on it. I don't get it. I'll admit. I voted for Obama over Hillary. I'd do anything to keep her out of the WH, but now I believe I made a serious mistake and misjudged her. Obama may be a fine speaker, good looking, dresses nice, beautiful family, but I do not know where his allegiences stand and I do not trust one minute that he will have our best interests at heart. I've read his past voting records, associations, etc. and I don't agree or trust him. So we'll just have to agree to disagree.
I am reminded of the Pied Piper...
and those that followed him to ruin. Sigh.
Jindal's speech reminded me of....
those films we had to watch in 6th grade health class about periods.
I'm reminded of an old Playboy cartoon
Nasty-looking old guy holding open one side of his overcoat: Psssst! Dirty postcards?
Pssst! Dirty bullets?
Strongly agree.....I also am very skeptical of the bill, want it slowed down.....sm
This is huge and there are no do-overs if we do not get this bill right, because it is so huge. We need to act, and I understand why the president is so eager to get things going after the past 8 or 9 years, but we must examine everything, and taken everything out that is not truly essential, necessary, and a proven stimulus....take a deep breath, study hard for another week, and GET IT AS RIGHT AS POSSIBLE! The American people need action, but not rash, irresponsible spending, we have had enough of that. I truly believe in the President, his idealism, his altruism, humanitarianism, and intelligence, but HASTE MAKES WASTE, we all have to hang in there a bit longer and really examine the bill under a microscope. Funny, I watched Meet The Press as usual this morning, and don't think I ever agreed more with the Republican side on some things...whaddya know????
Okie dokie. I am just reminded of the old phrase...
be careful what you ask for. But I do have a question...Obama has said forcefully that if he ends Iraq the war will go on in Afghanistan...so you are still going to have a war. Where the war is makes the difference? We are still going to be spending billions. The fact that it will be in Afghanistan and not Iraq makes the difference?
We are getting ready to spend billions bailing out the mess that Democrats created. No, Republicans have actually been bringing this mess up, screaming warnings about it, and the only thing this Democratic congress has done was pass a housing bill this time that further encouraged giving out those bad loans. Republicans were against it, but the Dems have the majority. Soooo...here we are. I do blame one Republican, George Bush, for signing it. He should have vetoed it.
How you can ignore something that huge and trust the fox to run the chicken house...I will be the first to say...I certainly do not understand it. But your vote is YOURS, and you should use it however you wish to.
That reminded me of Putin's staged pictures with the tigers.
Sorry, I do not want to see Obama shirtless. He has no personal dignity, and thinks he's incoming royalty.
Read a funny quote once and your post reminded me of it.
Will Rogers once said this about FDR: "The whole country is with him...If he burned down the Capitol, we would cheer and say, 'well we at least got a fire started anyhow.'"
So, there's another comparison between FDR and Obama.
Reminded me of a real-life situation when I was a child -
My sister, cousin, and myself had a koolaid stand on the side of the country road where we lived. We spent the day selling koolaid to mostly family. Halfway through the day, my sister decided it was too hot and she quit. We divided the money up 3 ways at that point and started all over.
At the end of the day, my sister had come back and spent all her money at our koolaid stand. My cousin and myself divided the money up 2 ways at that point when we quit.
An hour later, my sister was complaining to my grandfather that she had no money, that we had all the money and did not give her any... My grandfather proceeded to count our money and give her the exact amount we ended the day with!
I just started comparing that story to the government when I saw this cartoon! Boy, that made me mad...!!!
I am an independent....neither party is "my" party.
THis election cycle I believe the best man is a Republican. Do your research. John McCain warned about this in 2005, named Fannie and freddie by name, co-sponsored legislation to control them. Blocked by Democrats, led by Chris Dodd..same guy now trying to fix what he and the Dems broke. Chris Dodd, #1 on contributions list from fannie/freddie, followed closely by #2, your shining knight Mr. Obama. The chickens have come home to roost all right...or should I say the donkeys. :)
Uh oh. Looks like the party's over.
Sharpen up those cat claws.
What about the other party?
.
me and my party?
All I asked was if this was more divisive. I said nothing about any party or who I would prefer to see win. I said nothing hateful or vicious. Give it a rest, will ya?
Pub party?
Cool! Can I pick the pub, and will you bring 'nother fattie for the parking lot?
I am not of the pub party.
There are a lot of things to fault Obama for already. Just because you are too blind to see it just shows that you are so into democratic rhetoric that you can't tell the difference between the truth and a lie.
I truly feel sorry for people who are so caught up in the party lines (and this goes for both dems and pubs) that they refuse to see politicians for who they truly are.
Barrack Obama is a liar and he is so obvious about his lying it is amazing that you people can't even see it when it is RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE!!!
new party
I am so disgusted with all these folks in office, I am ready to start my own party. I think I will call it the Repo Party with the main objective being to take our country back. And we will be voting on daylight savings time, just for starters.
party time..
You party for your reasons, I party for me..Fortunately, right now democrats and the like minded have many things to party for..YEEHHAAWW!! Bye bye Scooter, bye bye Rove, bye bye incompetent Bush, LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Our party definitely needs to step up. sm
It's come to the point that I don't even know what our party values anymore. Just a bunch of different groups trying to elevate their cause with no clear focus. What is our agenda? I'm listening, but our elected officials are not talking.
Is Senator Kennedy the last Dem standing? At least he and Murtha speak their minds and challenge this administration. And I'm dog tired of hearing what the republicans got wrong. Though I think they have a nice stack of issues, I want to hear what our party is going to do to fix the Iraqi situation, what would they do in Louisiana and Missisippi differently if they had the ball in their court and what are they willing to fight for to effect change? What will they do to make America safer from domestic and foreign terrorists? Offer up some solutions. Maybe they have, but I haven't heard anything.
Hillary, though I'm still a fan of hers, seems to ride whichever wave she's on. Howard Dean is a live wire who says the first thing that floats to his brain, off the wall. He does not have the carisma to lead the party to victory IMHO.
As far as the republicans, I'm tired of hearing about gay marriages and abortions. I do not think these are America's main issues, not even close. I want to hear something other than rhetoric about how good Iraqi is doing too.
And I was just having a conversation earlier this week with a friend of mine who agrees with me that we have seen MORE gays and lesbians emerge since Bush took office. And before you get it wrong conservatives, I'm not saying he is creating them. It may be that the gays are rebelling and being more blatant with it to spite the anti-gay politicians, and/or all of the attention brought to gay marriage and gay this and that have only lured more young people into this culture as a reverse effect. I think the latter is more likely because rewind back to 2000, it was less likely you would see woman/woman, man/man hand in hand in the supermarket. Now, it's just as normal as man/woman and I'm in the bible belt, Alabama.
I agree with the poster who asked the question *where was THIS Al Gore 8 years ago?* Maybe, they'll wise up and make him head of the DNC. Say, *Thanks Dr. Dean for your services but we won't be needing them anymore.*
Either way, this administration NEEDS more disenting voices with SOLUTIONS-this is key-not just rhetoric because on major issues they have been allowed to runamuck basically uncontested for the last five years.
If we keep it up at this rate though I agree it's bad news for America.
*We tend to believe our party*...sm
Re-reading my postI can see how I misspoke. What I was trying to get across, and my post was not directed at you BTW, was that psychologically people tend to put more trust in and defend the party they support by default. Whether you are a registered republican or not, you support the republican party, and I glean that from your statement *I have not seen a Democrat I could vote for in good conscious.* And whether you are aware of it or not, you defend that party tooth and nails on here, and there is nothing wrong with that if they follow your belief systems.
Good for you for criticizing Foley, and any other person who is inappropriate with the pages. I have said here before I do not know why Studds didn't stepdown and more importantly why he was reelected. I'm against his having a relationship with a page as much as I am Foley.
As to Juanita, I understand you are personally connected with her in some way, so you will obviously be more sensitive to her situation than I will. I am looking at the big picture. Since she did not come forward in 1978, the statue of limitations gone, all she can do is tell her story, and Clinton has a story. Like I said her story is believable. She has proven genuine and not making claims out of spite or for money. I think it was Brunson who posted ladies that Clinton was supposed to have either raped or sexually harrassed earlier this year. Out of them all, Juanita was the only one I believe has substance.
I disagree with you again; when it was brought up that conservative presidents were accused of rape below, it was rebutted with *that was only one time...but..but..but..* That's rationalizing and minimizing.
I know your mind is made up about Vincent Foster, but this is what's on snopes.com. What I find interesting is the *suicide note.*
White House deputy counsel Vince Foster committed suicide on the night of 20 July 1993 by shooting himself once in the head, a day after he contacted his doctor about his depression. A note in the form of a draft resignation letter was found in the bottom of his briefcase a week after his death. (Note that this letter was not, as is often claimed, a suicide note. It was Foster's outline for a letter of resignation.) Foster cited negative Wall Street Journal editorials about him. He was also upset about the much-criticized role of the counsel's office in the controversial firing of seven White House travel office workers.
On 10 October 1997, special prosecutor Kenneth Starr released his report on the investigation into Foster's death, the third such investigation (after ones conducted by the coroner and Starr's predecessor, Robert B. Fiske) of the matter. The 114-page summary of a three-year investigation concluded that Foster shot himself with the pistol discovered in his right hand. There was no sign of a struggle, nor any evidence he'd been drugged or intoxicated or that his body had been moved.
If Foster had been murdered or if unanswered questions about his death remained, Starr would have been the last person to want to conclude the investigation prematurely. Or are we to believe Starr is part of the cover up, too? And if we buy into the conspiracy theory, what are we expected to believe? That a group of professional killers capable of carrying out dozens of murders all over the world shot Vince Foster, then clumsily dumped him in a park (after he had bled out), planted a gun he didn't own in his hand (without bothering to press his fingerprints onto it), amateurishly forged a suicide note (in several different handwritings), and then seriously expected the nation would believe it was suicide? Claims too crazy to believe are never discounted when they're needed to help establish a conspiracy, of course.
Oh, and did you check out the Bush body count??
Individuals, maybe. As for the party,
nm
Well, at least there are members in that party...
who will buck the party and put the people first. The Dems don't, won't, and that pretty much solidifies why I would not vote for a Dem...EVER again.
We can all see how much your party cares
nm
The peace party......
and what ultimately might get us into a nuclear confrontation.
I went to a party last week
to watch the acceptance speech by Obama. There was one individual at the party who kept talking endlessly and kept trying to re-take the floor after someone spoke about their interests. it was incredibly annoying. Ever had that happen in your life? conversation hog?
Despicable party. The WTC would probably still
Obama party
I actually posted back a couple of pages about this - this board has been busy since last night! =) I was actually kind of disappointed with the party. First off, the lady from the Democratic Headquarters didn't really give any information about any of the issues - she just brought print-outs from his website, which I had already read through before going to the party. Also, my friend that hosted the party is a HUGE Hillary she got some of the other guests going on about Hillary rather than talking about Obama. I asked a couple of questions, but no one there really seemed very informed and the response I got was to give them my email address and they would get back to me. The one nice thing was that there was no Bush-bashing and really no mention of McCain at all, but information on Obama was no more than I could get off the internet. It was good to see my friend again (this summer had been kind of crazy) and nice to meet some new people, but politically, it was really a waste of time. Everyone was really nice, even after they found out I had never listened to NPR =) I do, however, encourage people to attend a political "party" - either Republican or Democrat - perhaps the person who does your presentation will be better informed. Thanks to everyone that gave me web info earlier this week! =)
Obama can't fix what with his party either...
hard to do when you personify it.
It is JM's/SP's party's turn to be on the
the media dished out on their behalf throughout the entire primary season. Repeat. Show me one time JM has attempted to rein in his supporters when their tactics got out of control. Never mind what the media would or would not have done. I am looking for an example of JM expressing his awareness or concern that the tactics being used were inappropriate. O has done this on occasions, which makes the inquiry legitimate. The reason there is no answer is because there is no example. The hypocrisy of the remainder of this post speaks for itself and requires no rebuttal.
How can a party brainwash
nm
Once again, anyone not voting for your party
I haven't seen you say one thing yet that wasn't something I already heard stated on the news. If listening to the media and buying into their opinions is reasoning, then I don't wanna be a "reasoning" voter. I'm not for Barack or McCain, but I don't see the purpose of insulting someone because they DO like one or the other. Something tells me you don't need a purpose or reason to insult, though, it just makes you feel better about you.
your party and your president
Dubya are making us socialist -- this is what you have harped on for years. We even get to take over the debts of foreign banks thanks to Phil Gram, John McClain's right hand man.
What party is he, and why was he not nominated?
vote third party
Remember how we just "don't understand" how the bailout is good for us? Every politician and every single new media outlet said that we did not understand. They are protecting us from ourselves? we have to get together on this and get them out!
THis is not about the Republican party....
it is about socialism. I am a registered Independent, not a Republican. I just don't want a socialist America. What part of that do you not understand?
There is nothing positive about socialism that I can see.
Fear mongering...good grief. I am not fearful, I am angry. That man wants to highjack my country and a good many of my countrymen/women seem all to eager to help him do so. That doesn't make me afraid...it makes me angry.
However, there is nothing I can do about that, except vote for what I want, just like you are apparently going to.
If you get your way, and by the end of his term we are up to our eyeballs in socialism....one thing you can be sure of...I had nothing to do with it.
Well said. I don't belong to either party.
I just hope that the country can survive the 4 years. If Obama doesn't tax and spend us into a real depression or turn us into Venezuela north, perhaps it will.
But at least I will have the small comfort in knowing I had nothing to do with putting him in the White House.
You would probably know more about the Nazi party
xx
INDEPENDENT PARTY
The independent party has voted that they will back McCain. They have NO votes to back Obama whatsoever!!!!
which independent party?
Which one? There are a couple, at least:
The American Independent Party
The Independent American Party
Independence Party of America
I thought being an "independent" meant you didn't belong to any party...
Okay, but for the Independent Party, do
xx
That is a pity party going on there...
I've been poor, woe is me, nobody knows my plight. Well, poster may find this hard to believe but there are others who were also poor while young, went through horrific things in their life, and still don't use that as an excuse to whine their entire life and live in the past until their dying day.
