What would be refreshing
is if politicians would stop this political party crap and do things that will better our country instead of holding off until someone in their party is pres so their party gets the credit. That is just sad and makes me think less of the dems if that is truly what they are doing. I highly doubt that this will ever happen but wouldn't it be nice if the politicians were actually out to make a better America instead of just getting elected and making major bucks while the country goes down the drain....and that goes for all political parties.
This election is particularly scary because of our current circumstances. People strictly voting for someone because of the color of their skin or someone blindly voting without research......it really scares the crap out of me regarding who and what the next President of the United States will bring. Heck, we may be screwed no matter which moron we pick to be pres.

There was nothing ignorant in that post. I agree with oldtimer that the hate being spewed at McCain's and Palin's rallies is scary. And I don't like the fact that they are encouraging it. I am afraid for Obama. He's a good, decent, honest man and there are a lot of crazed people out there.

just like Bush gave the left so much ammo, the great and powerful O is giving conservatives a lot of ammo...he's just gotta be him, and that is plenty of ammo. Good grief, with all due respect...he has only been in office 5 months and has completely turned is back on most of his campaign promises and is looking about as much like Bush as Bush...lol. He is Bush on steroids....we are only just realizing that Bush was Obama lite! What a hoot.

Here, let me give you a hint. Obama said that all of the conservative and liberal economists agreed that his economy recovery plan was good (or would work, or something like that).
The lie being that "all the conservative economists" part.
That was one, big, fat, honking lie.....no one even blinked and took his word for it.
My DH says there's at least a half dozen conservative economists out there that don't agree with Obama...and yet....if Obama says they do....everyone believes him.
He lies and you don't even know it, he's so smooth about it.....
But some of us know he does...lie that is......he's getting real good at talking both sides of the issues, so that if something does or doesn't come to pass, he can say I told you so....or whatever needs to be said to save his you know whatsis.
I think he's learned a lot from the Clintons lately, don't you?

I do not understand it. I think he just loves
the campaigning last year. He never makes sense to me. He just talks and talks with lots of prepositions and adjectives, but never makes it real clear as to what he is doing. Nothing new to me, just the same old blah, blah, blah. A lot of what he says is what McCain used to say. Talk about a president putting major fear in you!
In fact, he scares me to death.
Also, I just do not think this stimulus is going to work. Think about it. If you were in debt? Would you actually keep spending and spending and going into more debt? Then you borrow money from family and friends and guess what? You are still in debt plus now more in debt because you owe money to your friends and family! Now you want to borrow money from your children and get more into debt. Then what? You basically go bankrupt. Isn't that what we are doing with this country and giving the debt for our children?
Shouldn't we make cuts here and there to try not to go more into debt? Need to save in case of future disasters and repairs? Instead of spending and spending. I thought Bush liked to do that!
I see the great depression coming with inflation raising its ugly head. I betcha a gallon of milk will cost 8.00 for half a gallon.
I cannot say about Franken....and whether he loves the country or not...
but to say Michael Moore cares deeply about this country is ridiculous. One has only to listen to what he says. He holds this country in contempt.

Wow, did you see the headline about Obama in Oregon? His rally had 65,000 yesterday with another 15,000 who couldn't fit in, plus more on boats watching from the water. That must have been something! Here's to hoping for a big margin for Obama in Oregon tomorrow and in November!

not that spending money on someone is a measure of love, but when they are together, when they interact, when they exchange looks, they look like a deeply committed, loving, happy, devoted, and inspirational couple. Perhaps he just wanted to inspire joy to his wife for his own reasons. Lucky Michelle!

Doesn't mean she has to actually DO anything to earn the bucks. She got a great big raise (nearly triple - and still claimed they had trouble paying off their college loans) when he was elected to the senate. I imagine her primary duty at the hospital was simply to be Mrs. Senator Obama, so naturally no one could possibly replace her.
Whenever I see a photo of MO with that huge toothy grin I am reminded of a Kate Hepburn line as Eleanor in Lion in Winter. She describes one of her husband's former mistresses as having prominent teeth, ''She smiled to excess, but chewed with real distinction.''

It *seems* to her the veteran showed disrespect to the flag, but I doubt she can come up with a concrete alternative way for him to have removed that flag, managed it single-handed, while being able to defend himself.
I think when our embassies have been under attack, the folks who took down those flags were probably in as much of a hurry, and I doubt they did anything differently.

As to stomping on the Mexican flag, no, I would not have. The store owners may have flown the two flags as they did out of ignorance, not to show deliberate disrespect. They may not have bothered to familiarize themselves with the law. They may not even speak English, but have now received a valuable lesson, which I hope someone will explain to them. If they are wise, they will learn from it. If not, they will get together several hundred of their closest friends, petition Obama, march, riot, demand ''equality'' now, and be a general pain in the patootie.
