Probably so....(sm)

Please excuse our giddy behavior, for just as Bush had proclaimed that the people of Iraq would swarm the streets singing praise to him once freed from oppression, we have found that very joy in the extermination of OUR oppressor.
*...this country has lost touch with reality and lost touch with God to the extent that people are looking to Obama as some sort of god.*
I would venture to say that there are some who would say that Obama was sent by God. There are others who would say that Obama winning the election was the will of God. Isn't that how it works? Everything that happens is a direct result of God? So, what do you think, is this a test from God or a gift? Maybe in your eyes, God made a bad decision? Are you saying that people who are excited about Obama being in office are now on the outs with God? What makes you so special that you should be defining the beliefs of other christians and criticizing their faith based on your observations? For all the preaching and now the judging of others you do on this board it sounds to me like perhaps YOUR belief system might be a little out of whack. Unless you had a burning bush moment, I would say it sounds as if you are not promoting God or Obama, but rather yourself.
*Not believing in God doesn't mean you believe in nothing, it means you'll believe in anything...*
You are so far off base with this it's ridiculous. As an athiest, I can assure you that I am not looking to fill a vacancy. I belive in the human race -- the drive, will, and instinct that drive any species to success. So, why would atheists be going ga-ga over Obama? Maybe its because they want to further humanity, not bring it to extinction like Obama's predecessor so willingly attempted. Maybe its because Obama actually cares about people -- not just those who would agree with him, but all people regardless of race, religion or creed.
*there is a great many people ready to believe in anything*
People aren't so much ready to believe in anything. They are ready for something to change. That's something they haven't been able to do in at least 8 years. That's not making him a king or a god. That's hope for something better.
Perhaps you should look at yourself when criticizing others. You would sing the praises of Bush while he would take the food off your table and give it to those who wouldn't give you a second glance in recognition. You would hail his accomplishments while our military give their lives for his lies. You would praise him for his moral character while he turns a blind eye to the hundreds of innocent civilians being murdered in Palestine. You would applaud his foreign policies that would not allow you to go out of this country without people of other nations looking at you with disgust. And you would defend this man who has taken rights away from you just so you can stick to your political beliefs. Now that's what I call putting someone on a pedestal.
*..., even a black man.....*
That's right....even a black man. Is it so hard for you to fathom the idea that someone of a different skin color would be of equal standing to you? Do you just completely reject the ideas of civility and equality? Has it ever occurred to you that this *black man* has every intention of trying to help YOU keep your job and help you keep food on your table?
Fortunately for us all (and that includes you), Barack Hussein Obama is above all of your pettiness. Is he a god? No. But he is a man with a vision for the future. He is a man of intelligence. He is a man of compassion. He is a man who wants to make a difference in this world. And he is a man of faith.
So, while you're sitting there watching TV, switching channels trying to avoid the festivities of the innauguration, perhaps planning which bill you would pay with your stimulus check, just remember the people who actually do care about this country and the future of their children, and forgive them for their joyous celebration of a glimmer of hope.
