McCain's parents were both American citizens and his father was serving the US in the canal zone when he was born and Obamas's mother was born in Kansas for God's sake. What is wrong with you people that no one wants to talk about the issues? Doesn't say much about the intelligence of voters when they cannot grasp a simple concept like citizenship.

does not mean free health care. My mother is a widow of almost 4 years now and draws a smidgen over $900 a month in SS benefits. Out of this, she has to pay almost $400 in health insurance, which is Medicare and AARP. She is also on several medications for age-related diseases and disorders. While her Medicare Part D does cover part of the cost of the medicines, it does not cover it all. In addition, she falls in the "donut hole" every fall and has to pay full price for her medications until the new year arrives. While her house is paid for, there are always repairs to be made specific to an aging house. In the last year alone, she has had to replace a dead stove, refrigerator and freezer. She also has to pay around $250 everytime the propane truck fills her tank, which is about every other month, especially in the winter.
Like the other poster mentioned, the reason "they" have their houses paid off is because they managed their money properly and did not live above their means. My dad never made more than $6/hour his entire life and he and mom raised my brother and me on that salary alone. We never knew we were "poor" because mom worked hard to stretch dad's paycheck and didn't spend it on getting her nails done or expensive clothes. She made every stitch of clothing I ever had with the exception of my wedding dress and bought my brother 3 pairs of Sears' Toughskin jeans at the beginning of every school year and they lasted all year. Dad had 3 suits of khaki work clothes most years. Sometimes when there was no money to buy new, she would patch the old ones to make them last. She never bought new clothes for herself but instead made them as she did for me.
While it infuriates me that I likely won't ever draw SS because it will be dried up and gone before I am eligible, it makes me madder still that our generation and the ones after us have caused this problem for our parents. What ungrateful children we are.

I don't associate myself with prejudiced people if I can help it. The fact is I am a registered democrat and am not voting for Obama based on his associations (Rev. Right, Ayers, etc)and his stance on partial-birth abortion. I don't care one iota about his race. However, I do think it would be great for America to have a black president, just not Obama. A good upstanding, honest and truly patriotic black man would be great. I would love to not vote for McCain, but I cannot in good conscience vote for Obama.

Blame the freakin' banks and CEOs - Wall St., speculators driving up housing costs (just like they are driving up gas costs, again). Barney Frank didn't bag all these mortgages into derivatives and then bet on the derivatives......Sheesh. When I refinanced my other home (yes, we have 2), I was told my loan would probably be sold. It never was. Probably because the payments were always made on time. (this was 5-6 years ago). My husband was laid off the first of the year (I don't work due to medical problems). My kids are paying the mortgage on the 2nd house. (I had a house when I married, then we bought a house together right before we were married). We don't have a pot to pss in, but, we have 2 houses to worry about. Can't sell 'em and our mortgage on the house WE live in is cheaper than rent.

I would think that they would check the eligibility information when they are put in the computer. I had to give my ID and form to the person and wait for her to put it in the computer and get an okay before I was given my voting pass.
Also, the people agreeing to go may be just like me - been thinking about it and just had not gotten around to doing it and this made it convenient for them.
And by the way, I never said if I voted Republican or Democrat...

He may have been born in Panama but his parents are both US Citizens, hence he is a natural born. When I was in the army in Germany and my child was born he was a US citizen because both parents are US citizens. While Obama's mother may have been American his father was not and when he was born in Kenya he was not an American citizen. He became an Indonesian citizen to attend their schools. Indonesia was at war at that time and did not allow dual citizenship, hence the only way for Obama to attend school was to be an Indonesian citizen. It is still being investigated if he ever changed citizenship after he was an adult to the US.

The only beverages I see not eligible are beer, wine, and liquor. Sodas, though they have no nutritional content, are still consumable items and therefore are eligible for foodstamps.

there are always a few stragglers in the crowd, in every race and every political party (like that guy who stood up and said kill him)in the McCain campaign, every religion and every walk of life, just people who say whatever they are feeling at any given time acting like they were raised by wolves out back in the woods. I voted for Pres. Obama and I didn't agree with the booing either. I didn't hear it first of all, but I believe you it happened and I would have wanted to hide under the table myself. That was rude, especially at an event of such caliber. so I would have to agree with you on that one.
Maybe they will learn to do better along their path in life. I don't think they can hardley be counted as how the majority of his supporters would behave.

Please, please know that John McCain is absolutely NOT constitutionally eligible to be president either. The blame goes both ways (if, in fact, Obama turns out to not have been born on Hawaiian soil).
It's an issue EITHER WAY. Regardless of WHO IS ELECTED (if the above caveat is met).

That is yet another reason why religion and politics don't mix; I can't help but wonder if God told Bush to bring the end times about, which he seems to be intent on doing with his bomb first, ask questions later tactics. Maybe the new War Czar will see the necessity of administration presence at soldier's funerals. I agree with Democrat that this convocation was quite a bit more pomp and circumstance than Katrina where he showed up in shirtsleeves, made promises and left. I am not mad because liberal causes are not on TV...this has not a thing to do with liberal causes or TV coverage. It was my response to an event.

President Bush declared a national day of remembrance for the Katrina victims and there was a great bit of pomp and circumstance as I remember it. I have never seen any administration order half-staff for a natural disaster, no matter who was in power.

Clinton was impeached on two counts, grand jury perjury and obstruction of justice, with the votes split along party lines. The Senate Republicans, however, were unable to gather enough support to achieve the two-thirds majority required for his conviction. On Feb. 12, 1999, the Senate acquitted President Clinton on both counts. The perjury charge failed by a vote of 55–45, with 10 Republicans voting against impeachment along with all 45 Democrats. The obstruction of justice vote was 50–50, with 5 Republicans breaking ranks to vote against impeachment.
So....even though he was not convicted and not told to step down from office....he was still impeached. Only one president has been impeached and told to step down and that was President Andrew Johnson...I do believe. President Nixon chose to resign rather than be impeached.
