First, Photo Story 3 is free. Just download it from Microsoft. That means that if you use public-domain pics (or your own photos), music and a free file converter (if you want a format other than WMV), you can do the whole thing for free.
Second, Photo Story 3 runs just fine on Vista, but you have to run it in XP compatibility mode. All this means is that you right-click on the program name, choose the "Compatibility" tab, and then choose XP mode in the drop-down box. If you have any questions about doing this, just Google "Vista compatibility mode" and you'll find lots of info. It's really very simple to set the compatibility mode on software that runs well in XP or Windows 2000 but won't run on Vista.
