No, $250,000 may not make you rich, just in the top 5%. Only 5% of the nation will be affected by the increased taxes. He's basically going back to the Clinton tax system, and in that system the wealthy kept making more money, but the lower income people also made more money. That top 5% includes those who move factories overseas. As far as keeping jobs at home, he has addressed that and has stated that he will end the existing tax cuts for those companies who do take work overseas.
Trickle down economics has never worked. It's been tried and tried and tried, and still we see no results. If you compare the times when that was in effect to the Clinton years, there's a vast difference in the economic status of the country as a whole. What I don't understand is that if something doesn't work, why in the world would we just keep trying it again and again?
As far as people wanting a handout, that's what's been happening with the wealthy for years. I understand the theory of cutting taxes for businesses, but we aren't talking about businesses. We are talking about the fact that for at least the last 8 years the wealthy have been getting personal tax cuts when they are the ones who would best be able to afford to pay taxes. Isn't that a handout, especially when nobody else is getting a cut and has to make up the difference?
