Lots of thoughts on why Putin changed his mind. Putin's own top economic adviser, Andrei Illarionov, has been a fierce opponent, arguing that Kyoto would kill off the world economy like an international Auschwitz. And a vocal group of scientists said the science behind global warming was full of holes. Which it is, of course, but never mind.
