No, nothing fishy at all!

And let's not forget that the 2000 Florida recount issue went as high as the supreme court.  At some point, after the count continued to go to Bush, the process had to be cut off, which I believe it was on December 14.   I guess the dems just wanted to keep counting and recounting until it went their way?  Like into January?  Maybe right through inauguration day? 

If Jeb Bush had not been the governor, and another republican was, I'm sure the democrats would have continued to demand recounts all the same.  If democrats had been secretary of state and governor, should we assume the count would have gone to the dems?  Would republicans have been shouting 'unfair' then?  I don't believe so.

I cannot remember a republican presidential candidate ever demanding a recount. (I'm sure somebody will let me know if I'm wrong.)  Nixon could have when Kennedy won, because the popular vote count was well within the margin of error that would allow it.  If I recall, he decided not to because he felt it would 'divide the country.'  That was a pretty valid concern.  (Oh, please, don't everybody start in on Nixon, okay?  He was just cited as an example of good sportsmanship.)
