I am so upset about our people dying in this civil war. I am so upset about conservatives questioning my patriotism. I am a soldier's daughter. I was in cold war Germany all of my childhood. I saw my father go to VN twice in his Class A uniform, to come into my room at 4 or 5 a.m. and say "daddy's got to go to work". I saw a commercial about designing a ''smart planet'' and my flesh crawled. ''Soon, we will be able to tailor treatment to your genetic code''? Oh, super! Sounds so warm and fuzzy, doesn't it? But in reality, who wants a national genetic database storing information on who has the gene for breast cancer or other diseases they can now predict a predisposition for? Nice, if it's actually used to help us (what are the chances of that?) Really bad if they won't waste treatment on somebody they feel is already a goner anyhow.
