Do you also defend the innocent
people in our local prisons because I'm sure that there are a few in there who are actually innocent......however, most of them are NOT.
As for me not knowing for sure whether they were indeed tortured or not......how do you know that they were tortured? Were you there? Did you talk to them? Do you have a pin pal at Gitmo, do ya?
I'm sure there are some innocent men at Gitmo but this is war. It was war when the terrorists killed thousands of Americans in one day and then celebrated their actions. We have gone from a 9/11 mentality to a pre 9/11 mentality. We seem to have forgetten that we were attacked and that these people desire nothing more than our death.
Why do you defend killing of innocent civilians?
I have never said I defend Hezbollah. I don't defend Hezbollah. They're terrorists, and they're horrible.
But blindly defending Israel, regardless of what they do, doesn't work for me either. What is most disquieting to me is that you defend Israel's placement of landmines to kill innocent civilians, designed to go off at a later date when people least expect it? Why don't you consider that terrorism, as well?
You mean you defend all people who
are innocent. You cannot know someone else's heart no matter how much you want to think you do. When it comes to these terrorists, they have only one feeling for America and Americans - cold, calculated, murderous, black, hate! You need to wake up to this fact and accept it. I hope you do not think for a moment they would try to defend you for anything. They would cut your heart out and roast it in a NY minute!
Innocent people s/m
I hear that there is not a guilty person in prison. Another thing that needs fixed in our government at all levels, justice depends on how much money you have. I really, really doubt that there are that many truly innocent people on death row. I think that before an execution, there should be absolutely no doubt about guilt. Say O.J. and Scott Peterson. Don't you think they deserve the death penalty. Well, I know that O.J. was found not guilty but no doubt in my mind he was guilty as sin.
I'm not talking about innocent people
I'm talking about people who raping, pillaging, setting fires, shooting rescuers, and stealing ambulances. I have heard of no one but you defending this though I'm sure there's a minority fringe like you who are such as Molly Ivins etc. I think your post revealed to me how out of the mainstream of thinking you are.
By the way, New Orleans had one of the highest crime rates in the country before the hurricane. There are people from that city who are freely admitting that there were places you didn't want to be caught dead in.
Honestly you don't believe there is evil in the world. I really feel sorry for you for that, because one day you will most likely be a victim and then you will be very confused....
Yes, there are also innocent people in prisons on death row.
Therefore I am against the death penalty.
Clinton wasn't killing innocent people. NM

Your reply does not seem referable to my post.
What you cite as your concerns in your post does not correlate to what I talked about in my post. Perhaps you are referring to some other posting.
Since I post in reply to other posts...
it would appear I am not the only one who has time to spend on a computer, though that has somehow escaped your attention. Monica moniker...cute. LOL.
It was a reply to the post directly above it...
"In his private career, seems like he did a lot of work for the poor and several civil rights cases. I guess that would make some conservatives a little afraid of him :-)"
It is the taunt I was replying to. Democrats have not in the past had a stellar reputation for championing the civil rights of African Americans and I pointed that out. And they became interested in the poor African American AFTER they finally got the right to vote. Coincidence?
Again, respectfully...replying the the taunt.
Thank you for your reply - good post
It's been awhile since I've been able to get back and read the response. I feel the same exact way. A woman's health issues to include pregnancy and everything else about her health should not be an issue in politics. Makes me wonder, what other part of our personal health are they going to make into political issues.
Good response on the job question too. I think I worded my original question wrong but this answered it. Thanks
Just in case you missed the reply to your other post...
Perhaps it was the ministries at the Trinity United Church that attracted Obama...much like the ministries of other Americans attract them to their churches? Ya think?
1. Can-Cer-Vive support to cancer patients and caregivers.
2. Churh school and youth church.
3. Counseling services, both individual and group.
4. Emmaus Road Ministry, which provides companions, prayer partners, helpers and friends for grieving persons, months after the passing of a loved one. Ongoing contact with the family is maintained.
5. Girl Scouts.
6. Teen choir.
7. Computer classes.
8. Assistance to physically, mentally and emotionally handicapped.
9. Marriage enrichment seminars.
10. Workshops on building and maintaining Christian homes.
11. Men's chorus.
12. Men's fellowship.
13. Bible study.
14. Sanctuary choir.
15. Stewardship.
16. Women's chorus.
17. Women's drill team.
18. Yoga.
19. Youth drill team.
20. Active seniors.
21. Adopt-a-Student.
22. Athletes for Christ.
23. Career development.
24. Church in the community.
25. Domestic violence advocacy and support.
26. Drug and alcohol recovery.
27. Food share.
28. Grandparent's ministry.
29. HIV/AIDS support.
30. Housing workshops.
31. Health and wellness.
32. Legal counseling.
33. Math tutors.
34. Prison ministry.
35. Reading tutors.
36. Drama.
37. Fine arts and literary guild.
38. Quilting.
39. Adult dance.
40. Music.
These ministries seem to be awfully consistent with Obama's life experiences, political agendas and campaign platforms. That's all the explanation I need.
It's your reply to the post about Obama Aunt from
You always have a way of posting a view (on illegal immigration) with which I disagree, but always am able to better understand because you have that uncanny ability to strip away all the fluff and get down to the nitty gritty...sort of like Lou Dobbs, who I actually like to listen to except for his illegal immigration crusade, in spite of the fact that I am a left-wing commie!
Nan-ism post was in direct reply/rebuttal to the two posts above it.
Surely you would agree that when accused of something we should have a chance for rebuttal? And that our rebuttal would surely include proof/evidence of why we took a particular stand? Would you deny the liberal board that right? SOME of us may be tolerant (or as Nan put it, "sissies") but some of us are very capable of speaking up for ourselves.
I have read Nan on this board (and others as well) for almost two years so I think I have a pretty fair grasp of her opinion and style of posting.
I know more than you! Some people post under sm..s/m
And you posted under 'm'.
I know that sm means see message and NM means no message.
Why do you then enter 'sm.. m'....this is very confusing.
Pick another posted-by name and STICK TO IT.
So that you can be identified by other posters.
Coward.
It is very inappropriate when posters just jump into the middle of a thread with an answer, out of context, not knowing what was going on from the beginning.
People just putting their nose into everything.
YOU NEED SOME REST!
For the post below......Why do you people always have
As I said, I'm sure this will fall on deaf ears who have no relationship with God.......
but without God in EVERYTHING, you're up crap creek without a paddle deary....
My question to you is why not bring God into it? What gives you the right to say God shouldn't be brought into every aspect of our lives.....just because you have no relationship with God doesn't mean we all feel the way you do.
By pushing God aside, it generally gives those who want to justify their causes the lack of conscience in order to push their agendas. BTW..... it's not necessary to put parenthesis around God; for most of us God is God......doesn't require your description as if it's a bad thing.

Woman sues for alleged firing over talk show bumper sticker
By: TERI FIGUEROA - Staff Writer
VISTA ---- A San Diego County woman is suing her former employer, accusing her manager of firing her on the spot when she saw the woman's car had a bumper sticker advertising a progressive talk radio station.
The suit also alleges that, after seeing the sticker, the employer commented that the woman could be a member of al-Qaida.
In a civil suit filed at the county courthouse in Vista, Linda Laroca is targeting both her former manager, Beverly Fath, and the company she briefly worked for last year, Advantage Sales and Marketing, Inc.
Neither Laroca nor the defendants could be reached for comment Wednesday. Laroca's attorney declined comment.
Laroca, who was hired by the company as a sales representative, is seeking lost wages and damages for wrongful termination for violations of both public policy and the state labor code. She is also claiming state constitutional violations and emotional distress.
The California labor code prohibits employers from controlling or directing the political activities of employees.
According to Laroca's suit, the bumper sticker in question read only: 1360 Air America Progressive Talk Radio.
The nationwide syndicated radio programming from left-wing Air America, which describes itself as progressive entertainment talk radio features show hosts such as comedian and author Al Franken. The network programming is carried locally by radio station KLSD 1360 AM.
A call to Clear Channel-owned KLSD on Wednesday afternoon was not immediately returned.
In her Feb. 21 claim, Laroca asserts that on Oct. 8, three weeks after she started working for the marketing company, Fath called her on a Saturday and requested they meet at a nearby grocery store parking lot so Laroca could pass on some documents Fath needed.
During the brief encounter, Laroca charges, the manager pointed to the bumper sticker ---- the only one on Laroca's car ---- and remarked that it was a new sticker and called it that Al Franken left-wing radical radio station.
Laroca alleges in her suit that Fath then told her, The country is on a high state of alert. For all I know, you could be al-Qaida.
A stunned Laroca laughed nervously at the statement, the suit alleges, and then was dealt the final blow when Fath fired her on the spot.
Not asking you to defend ... just an fyi...
in looking for answers to DW's question as to who was opposing the expansion and why, I ran onto an explanation of the President's health care proposal...which I hate to admit, I did not know the particulars of, because no one in media is reporting it. It was in article by the HEW Secretary. At any rate...Bush proposes a $15,000 tax cut for every American family who buys their own private health insurance. It is estimated that it would cover 20 million more American families...the whole family, not just the children...where the SCHIP expansion would only cover 3 million more, and a good many of those newly eligible kids (under higher income limits) are already covered by private health insurance, according to the CBO study commissioned by the bipartisan congressional committee looking at the SCHIP expansion. What that basically means is that children already covered by private insurance would leave that and go to a public assistance program.
Just some alternative information. You do not need to respond and I am not trying to pick a fight. Just giving information.
Lurker, 3/4 of the people who post here leave no name. That is nothing new.
Ok....then don't attack when people post things about...
Barack Obama. He put himself in that position, to be put under a microscope...using your logic. Since it doesn't matter to you whether what is posted about Palin is true or not, you should not get all up in arms when someone posts something about Obama. But of course, that would indicate you had a sense of fairness, wouldn't it?
What is wrong with you people. Post, ignore,
nm
That's because people continue to post on a non-politics issue
I got over her a long time ago. Obama and Biden won. McCain and Palin lost. Doesn't bother me one bit they lost because I didn't vote for them. I was upset the GOP put in such a lame candidate to begin with. But when you post a non-political issue on the political board gloating about the hardships they are going through and are gleeful about it because of the hatred for Sarah Palin, then yes, I will reply and I'll keep replying and will reply in the future. And if any picks on Obama's daughter's either I will reply with a rebuttal and keep replying. These people are not in politics. I followed Obama's advice he gave during the campaign - leave the candidate's family alone. Especially the kids. There is nothing lower that finding happiness in other people's sadness. And the kids did not do anything wrong.
AW, I am disappointed that you would defend
anyone on these boards wishing anyone else to burn in hell for eternity, particularly two very young and inexperienced women.
As far as the conservative board, if it is a "cesspool," it is at least in part because conservative posters cannot post conservative opinions there without being attacked relentlessly. I suppose it is fortunate for the liberals on this board that they have not had to experience such conditions when voicing their liberal opinions here.
So, how do you defend Mr. O's back-
the comments, the associations, etc......ROFL.
as usual....can't defend...
//
I'm sure you defend Cindy Sheehan just the same, don't you?
Not a bet I'd take.
I certainly don't defend the remarks, but they were taken out of context
Obviously, the example Bennett used of aborting every black child was a very poorly thought out example, but his remarks were also taken grossly out of context by the mainstream media. He went on say it would be a morally reprehensible thing to do. He was commenting on the idiots that said that crime or poverty was down since the legalizing of abortion. He thinks abortion of any kind is wrong...he was turning their logic around on them. He certainly does not think that every black baby should be aborted. GRANTED, there are radical right wingers (the KKK, aryan nation etc.) would think this was a great idea, but they are radical and not the mainstream as Ms. Libby FALSELY stated...
Go ahead and defend a racist
even if it's so out of character for a liberal.
Sheez! How do Repubs defend this?
Boggles the mind! But also learned another curious thing tonight - several people have told me they can't buy any ammunition for their guns, I think they told me AR15's or whatever the civilian model of an M16 is? - they said the rounds are not available by mail or at stores and they are told it's all being stopped at the ports and sent to Iraq. Say what??
Anybody else having a similar experience or know anything else about this? Would be curious to know if the situation in Iraq is really so bad that all civilian ammo has to be confiscated so it can be sent there.
Hard to defend something that isn't happening.
No problem getting ammo here in the great NW.
I am not going to defend Free Republic sm
only because no website knows who it is that is posting on it. I used to post on FR but they banned me because I didn't walk lock-step with their philosophy, which does not tolerate dissent. However, I have seen death threats right here on this site, so linking this guy to a web site isn't really relative. I hope they prosecute him. He is sick.
Not necessary to defend Obama. He's doing just fine
.
Nice try. Once again, only way to defend Obama is

I defend anyone who tried to save thousands of

Just today....and theboard is dominated by people piling on me every time I post.
What you don't like is anyone who disagrees with you. Sounds a whole lot more like Nazism than American democracy. But I don't suppose a socialist party would recognize that.
I hope you're not one of the ones who defend the lies that ...sm
launched the war in Iraq ???
If so, the hypocrisy is reeking.
You are absolutely right. And I certainly do not defend Bush on most things.
But as I said in my post to Lurker below, this is not exactly the political forum I am used to posting in. I just could not resist commenting on this issue as I feel it is deeply disturbing and all parents should look at this closely.
Even Newt Gingrich can't *defend the indefensible*
if you missed it on Hannity and Colmes, you can see the video here. Newt in his own words. Definitely worth watching.

When you can't defend the present why do you always bring up the past?
Maybe we can get David Ogden to defend him? LOLOLOL!
Nothing like a hypocrite take a fall to make MY day!
I don't see how a conservative, prolifer could attempt to defend his statements...nm

I did not say innocent.........
She opted to have all of the eggs implanted (not the norm and outside ethical responsibility). They erroneously thought she had 7 viable fetuses (the 8th was hidden somewhere.....). The doc should have pushed for selective termination to reduce the number. The fact that she chose to carry them all to term indicates to me that she is short a few fries of a happy meal. I suspect she knew she would make headlines and that would ignite support from all over in the form of gifts, cash, etc., so she could continue her "puppy mill" in relative financial comfort. I still stand by the assumption she's nuts and the doc made a huge mistake.
I know that innocent
people have gone through horrible things when they were wrongly accused, etc. However, there are so many more of them that are guilty. My biggest problem with the death penalty is that it is so expensive. A rope or a bullet is a lot cheaper than lethal injections. I personally feel that if we were harsher on prisoners....more of them would stop doing it. A three strikes your out kind of thing. We have so many prisons that are overcrowded that criminals, rapists, etc. are being send out early risking many more innocent lives that way.
If Rove is innocent
why didnt he come forward before now and state what actually went down? Because of his silence, Judith Miller is in jail, Matthew Cooper was threatened with jail, thousands of tax dollars have been spent on a Grand Jury and a special prosecutor and now quite possibly a trial.
Yes, he was acquitted. But he was not innocent....
we all know that. We saw him commit perjury. National TV. Yes, my fangs are showing. I don't like it when Pres of US flaunts the law and Congress lets him get away with it. Actually, I blame Congress just as much, but sides of the house, because they did not have the integrity NOR the guts to convict him. At least when Nixon was proven to be guilty he still had a modicum of decency and resigned. Clinton did not have enough class OR integrity to do the same. 'Nuff said.
Oh of course....in the land where you are innocent if...
proven not guilty...you are seizing on poor judgment. Don't you think it is poor judgment to consort with terrorists and spend 20 years in an america-hating church? This is not bad judgment? McCain did not cost us anything. Keating, the one who perpetrated the financial debacle...is responsible for that loss.
