God willin' and the crick don't rise.

That was one of my favorites. The crick (creek) did rise one year, I guess, down by the railroad tracks in Lincoln, and wiped out a whole neighborhood with the flooding. Way before I was born. I just never could figure out how the creek could rise and come to the houses from miles away....

I guess we all have a bit of folksy in us, don't we?
