what "we" want is hardly the
issue. The "folks" are gonna vote based on the level of reasoning they use in their everyday lives. Will they vote from fear and the idea that the devil one knows is better than the devil one does not know. Will they vote based on reasoned assessment that the country is circling the drain after 8 years of republican rule and the only hope is to wrest control of the country from their incompetent hands? I am pleased with the way the polls are trending. They are more thinking americans than there are cowering americans. We'll try to save you even if you are dragged into the light kicking and screaming.
"We have seen this movie before...
it's called Hugo Chavez and Venezuela." PERFECT comeback. And I got blasted for suggesting there were liberals in Congress who wanted to nationalize oil. So I will say it again...far left liberals like Maxine Waters, Barack Obama, Ted Kennedy to name a few...ARE socialists, just more sneaky about it...until she just got ticked and blurted it out. We better ALL hope they don't go there. That is the danger of voting in socialists. Good-bye America, hello Venezuela.
"We" know no such thing. Please do not
The scope of the issue is obviously beyond your comprehension.
"We've got them just where we want them." JM.
This is what we hear after being told JM would make a statement on the economy.
"WE" were never told about anything.....
That's the problem. We, the citizens of this country, the ones who the govt is supposed to work FOR, put this into law without even Congress being consulted....without congressional consent...PERIOD!
The only "objectives" are being pushed through quietly by Obama and unless people wake up and start protesting loudly and clearly, and taking back this country, we are going to be another russia.... for those that don't believe that, then ask yourself why Russian politicans AND European politicians are telling Obama he needs to stop what he is doing, that he is heading down the wrong path; the very one THEY have already been down! How telling is that?!
I beg to differ, it IS about "we" people.
Yes, I am a middle class American. I still have healthy savings and the credit cards I have are not maxed, because of choices I have made. You cannot blame the Republicans for peoples' bad decisions. I am not a Republican; I am an Independent. Though I have to say...if any party has been hijacked it is the Democrats...might as well change the name to the socialist party, because that is what it has become. That is evident in the posts I see here. They have convinced you that the wealthy people/corporations in the world are evil. If you knew how corporations figured into the economy of this country, you would know that is just not true. Corporations employ millions of Americans. Small businesses employ most of the rest of us. Democrats want to tax them into oblivion and drive even more business offshore to get out from under the tax burden. We have a higher tax on our businesses than any other country...which makes us extremely noncompetitive. THAT is why we lose jobs overseas and jobs here. Because the Democratic party has put the rax rate so high.
I don't want more and bigger government...I want less. I don't want higher taxes. I want less. I want businesses to be able to open and operate and compete with business outside our shores rather than join that business to get out from under taxes. I would like for Democrats to follow the entire Constitution and Bill of Rights, not just the parts that serve their agenda. I would like to get back to the place in America where we are Americans first, and Democrats/Republicans second. I would like politics in Washington to change, and Obama is not the one to do that. He and his VP are the #1 and #3 most liberal senators in the senate. They are washington politics as usual. Obama's entire career has been washington politics as usual...as is Biden's...30 years in the senate in washington. They are exactly opposite of any change. That is simple fact.
As to Republicans not making country stronger...that is the one major thing I agree with Bush on. He HAS kept this country safe. He has kept us on the offensive. And that is why we have not had another attack. AL Qaeda is much weaker. We drove them out of Iraq. I have no reason to think McCain will not continue that. He has said he would, and with his military experience, I believe him.
Obama is scary to me for that reason. I think he is soft on terrorism. He talks about "factions" of radical Islam and how you have to identify the "faction." That says to me he doesn't get it.
I do not agree that all the kids want Obama. However...this election is about all Americans, young, middle-aged, older. We all matter in this election.
"We know" -- ouch I am being excluded.
I shall probably die.
or the other quote...."we will take them over from inside...
without firing a shot." I agree, "bombing everything off the map" is not something you would engage in with Russia...but being firm is essential. They have to know that any aggression would be answered. To put it in very base terms, they want to see if he blinks...if there is a chink they can exploit. Will reserve any supposition or comment until he responds...giving benefit of the doubt and all that.
who in the world are you referring to as "we"
I never saw respect for Bush coming from the opposing side.
I agree that this day shouldn't be about bickering at all... and I welcome the new President
but please who are you referring to when you say "we" because that is a nice comment that you made, it makes sense you didn't like his policies, that is okay, but you really dont believe for a minute that people defended up?
wait i just read it again and you MUST be being sarcastic...
When they have to cough up "we are bankrupt."
Nobody has the balls to say the word. We print Monopoly money because we don't have anything else. Try spending that before long.
Enough is enough already!
"we'll bury you???"...(sm)
You guys are wising up? ROFL...I would say you're just mad because you are going down the tubes with your party.
In case you haven't noticed (and I'm sure you rarely notice much of anything), intimidation and threats on message boards rarely work and serve only one purpose -- that is to make those who would use these tactics look like a fool.
Maybe you should change your threats to threats of torture ---- that worked soooo well for Bush...Yeah, he's going down, and it's about time!!!
Not exactly my favorite....lol (sm)
But he does actually look at issues. I think he often takes on the role of the bad guy to try to prove a point, and he's taken out of context often because of that.
Speaking of transparency, they are starting a new website called recovery.org. I've already been there, and there isn't anything on there yet, but the purpose of it is to show where all the money goes once Obama passes the stimulus package. That should be interesting. I already have my calculator ready....lol.

"we" did the right thing....no, you're wrong there.....a lot of
people, mostly young, were bamboozled.
"We" did not do the righ thing...
Unless you like total government control, and social medicine, and social economics.....
We may never recover from President Obama, at least not in my lifetime.
I did not vote for him. I wish him well, but his choices as he is leading up to his inauguration do not bode well for our country on a whole, especially our children and grandchildren.
Libs refuse to call it socialism.
But that's what we're putting into office.
Bush opened the door a crack.
Obama intends to play on our fears and take full advantage of them.
Maybe when all your rights are gone, when govt has total control over your healthcare, your mortgage, your loans, your 401K....maybe then, you will understand what is happening right under your nose, and finally see what you have lost.

The barn door is wide open, and the winner take all (Obama). "Never let a good crisis go to waste" as his team has recently stated.
He has, and will, take full advantage of our fears, as even he, Obama, was the fear monger today.

All "neocons" are liars. It has to be true because they say so. They don't know what neocon means. It's a catch phrase they hear in the liberal media and they think they are being cool using it.
They were just using one of your favorite words
or do you own the copyright of the word liar?
Perhaps one of my most favorite quotes...from
a plain-spoken man who I admire...Will Rogers.
"I love a dog. He does nothing for political reasons."
Yep, and don't forget...your favorite....
the Terminator....lol...
That was my favorite part
of the dog and pony show...boy wonder being flustered when asked the Biden question. He clearly doesn't like Biden; but was too wimpy to pick Hillary.

"we" blame Bush for what he did wrong, sorry if you cannot bear to....sm
take the blinders off. I thought Bill Clinton was a great Preident and humanitarian, but a LOUSY husband, but the country did not marry Clinton, and the Pubs with Ken Star and his WITCH HUNT went after Bill for what he did in his private sexual life that had nothing to do with his job as President. Wow, we impeached the guy and spent millions of tax dollars doing it!!! Yay! But he still led us one of the most prosperous times in American History budget-wise, and if he is kinky in his bedroom, so what? Do you want someone in your bedroom? What do you guys use as a measure for success? Blind loyalty was what REALLY got all the people to drink the Kool-Aid down in Jonestown, and with all the denial about the Bush years, I feel like we are down there in that jungle.
forgot my own personal favorite
How is this considered effective and balanced political debate?

Forced into that positin by your favorite...
political party, the DEMOCRATS. McCain told them this was coming in 2005. Sponsored legislation to look closer at Fannie/Freddie. The Democrats (big money buddies with Freddie/Fannie) blocked it. And here we are...Freddie/Fannie started the freefall. And let's not forget Barney Frank...another Democrat...pushing Fannie/Freddie to make those subprime loans to minorities and low income folks who did not have a hope in heck of paying it back. Most with no credit or bad credit. And THOSE are the people we are bailing out. Wonder how many of THEM are Democrats??
Yes, it is form of socialism, but at least we do not have SOCIALISTS in charge of it. If we elect Obama, we WILL have a hard core socialist in control.
Be careful what you ask for.
Have I shown you my favorite pic of our elitist?

There you go...hit on another favorite. Pinto beans...
fried potatoes and cornbread. Yum. Growing up that was a staple for us. And boy did I (and still do) love it!!
My other favorite Ripley line
When she is told of the significant dollar value of the company factory she wants to destroy, she says, 'Well they can BILL me.' And somehow, that's a pretty pithy saying for the times, too.
By the way, I think fava beans taste nasty. Can't imagine what you see in them.
FOX news is my favorite. And, I am not jealous of

my favorite place to stay current
on the issues in politics is Media Matters America. As the name explains, they monitor all forms of media and report on the distortions and misinformation. They give factual rebuttals. They make it a lot easier to sort fact from fiction.
The favorite tactic of the left....you have nothing substantial...
attack and belittle. Don't even realize how it reflects on them...or don't care.
Yea but he didn't have to pre-empt my favorite programs
Judge Joe and Judge Alex. They were gonna be pretty good today. Guess I'll have to wait for re-runs. LOL
garlic and parmesan cheese is my favorite....sm
I wish I really had some....lol
For fun and relaxation...don't watch a lot of TV...do do some work in the yard, but my favorite r
with my horses and my Corgis. That is something the whole family enjoys. No deep thinking, just pure enjoyment.
Totally off the subject also...I get creeped out seeing Bill and Hillary and Chelsea together...they look more like business partners than family. Very weird dynamic going on there. At least Fred married the younger woman and they have two beautiful kids together, and actually look like they care about each other. Hard to find fault with that, at least for me.
And totally off the subject again...John Kerry creeped me out from day one, even before the botox. Yikes. lol. And Richard Nixon...even pictures of him creep me out.
Enough of this...Corgis need attention.
God bless, and have a good evening!
I believe the youngest was named after her favorite band...Van Halen....nm
lol
Same here. I am adding DeFazio and Kaptur to my favorite list. sm
They work for the people. Obama, McCain, and the others who voted for that bailout knowing full well what the consequences were have their lips firmly planted on the behinds of the establishment.
Plan B.
I can't imagine Bush releasing funds intended for the banks and insurance companies to be released to the auto industry without imposing more stringent conditions on the UAW workers than the republican caucus and parochial southern senators have already tried to enact. Gettelfinger stands behind his "bankruptcy is not an option" statement. If Bush does not step forward, looks like liquidation could be just around the corner. JMHO.
bad plan
I do believe our senators need to go focus on this crisis, but, a few hours spared for a debate is not a waste of time. The election is close and people need to hear what both of the candidates have to say.
More on O's plan for
What I had in mind was his proposal to eliminate capital gains taxes for start-up and small businesses, the making work pay tax credit to help reduce the double taxation paid by self-employed (that "special" self-employment tax you pay if you are an IC) and the proposed $250 million annual investment in the National Network of Business Incubators designed to increase the number and size of small businesses.
Here's part of the answer to the earlier question about small businesses and health insurance cost/fine. He proposes a Small Business Health Tax Credit program of up to 50% of the premiums they pay for health care benefits for their employees. If you want to read more, here's the link:
http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/SmallBusinessFINAL.pdf
Under O's plan, you will keep more of it.
x
That's not a bad plan
But the article itself says that France does not have socialized medicine - it's something completely different, especially with the lowered malpractice insurance and the tuition-free universities. I don't see that anything like that would be set up in the US, do you? It's not a bad idea, though. Definitley something to think about.
LOL. I like that plan.
.
God has a plan for everything
His main objective is that none of us die but, as loving as He is, He gives us choices. Many of us will make the wrong choice and die for it.
health plan
I have an idea, why doesnt Bush stop waging immoral wars and use our tax dollars for something constructive and life saving, like health coverage for those who die each year without it? You know why I would love a universal health plan? Because I care about my brother and sister and I care about making every Americans life better. Of course, you conservatives care about no one but yourselves. You make a few bucks, buy a home in a gated community, take the other streets so you dont pass the ghetto..and yet you claim you are christian..that is the most hypocritical statement of all. Do you not realize if Jesus walked this earth today, he would be a liberal democrat, helping the poor, the starving, the sick, the homeless, accepting all. Im so glad Im a liberal democrat. I dont think I could look at myself in the mirror or get a good nights sleep knowing my ideology is actually harming America, not helping it one bit.
Obama's plan
I assume you watched both conventions????? I watched the Dems and now I'm watching the Pubs. I am an INDEPENDENT. I would support Obama were it not for my research of the church he has been associated with for 20 years. This church, in my humble opinion, belongs to an extreme, radical, racist group. We don't need that in the White House. With the exception of illegal immigration, he pretty much addressed all the things that I feel are important to the future of my children and grandchildren and were it not for his affiliation with his chosen church, I would probably vote for him. . At least he had the good sense to select a person as his running mate who actually might be "ready on day one" to lead this country.
Secondly, again in my humble opinion, McCain has a few screws loose rattling around upstairs. He answers every question, even about how many houses he owns, with something like, "well, the longest time I spent anywhere was when I was a POW." Other than that it has been all about bashing Obama and his not having "experience." Then look what he did. Picked a little-known female who has been abroad exactly once and tries to pass her off as "experienced." Truth: She is a female and her state is the second largest producer of oil. Bush governed the biggest oil producing state. Enjoying those prices at the pumps? To this point all the pub speakers have pushed McCain's war record. What????? Do we need more war? I think a peacemaker would be better.
Now, before anyone pounces on me, I support NEITHER of these candidates and NEITHER will receive my vote. Either way, the middle class Americans, to which I expect most MTs belong, lose. Our government will change when and if the majority of Americans quit using their heads as a hatrack for the Democrat and Republican parties, kick them out and bring back government "of the people, by the people and for the people." Won't happen this time but maybe next time won't be too late.
OK. Let's rephrase. How does JM's new plan
x
Obama's tax plan
First of all, let me say I was undecided on this election until yesterday. Obama's tax plan scares me to death. I heard him on an interview yesterday, and he said that the top 5% of the country could *afford to help out those less fortunate to us*, meaning those that make above $200,000. He also said that someone making under $45,000 would *probably* not have to pay income taxes, because all the tax revenue would be generated from the top 5% of the country, again, who could *afford* to help out his fellow man.
So, here's my question. If I work my BUTT off making a great living for my family, who the heck is he to say I have to share it? My husband and I put ourselves through school to get a good education for ourselves, searched for good jobs, worked more than one sometimes, and enjoy or standard of living, because we worked hard for it and EARNED it. How dare he suggest that I have to share that with ANYONE, just because they dont' have as much. We give to quite a few neighborhood organizations and national charities, we do not keep every penny for ourselves.
If he does get elected and puts this new plan in place, why would people work hard to make a good living if quite a bit chunk of it is going to be taken away? Why not just sit back, work as little as you want, stay under that $40,000 radar, not pay income taxes, and have the government give you some other *rich* guy's money because you don't have as much?
This really made my mind up for me. It's time this county taught some personal responsibility and accountability, and I do not think he is the one for the job!
And so how exactly does McCain plan to fix
He could sell Alaska to the Japanese. They need the land & the natural resources, and they most definitely have the money.
McCain's plan...
http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/Issues/19ba2f1c-c03f-4ac2-8cd5-5cf2edb527cf.htm
Not as described above.
Obama's Plan:
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/healthcare/
They seem very similar to me...big difference is Obama wants the government to control it and McCain wants individuals to control their own health care. I don't see a problem with that.
Which is why I am still voting McCain.
if you plan on voting
you will need to keep things like OBAMA and OSAMA straight. The political system was based on the assumption that voters would know the difference between a tall black man running for president and a tall man in a sheet running for cover. Study up. Only a few more weeks . . . I'm betting you can do it.
Do either of the candidates have a plan
for this financial crisis that does not involve the taxpayers bailing out the US?
