McCain lost, gave an eloquent

In Reply to: McCain's speech was well written (for him, I doubt he wrote it himself), but he is not a great s - aw
speech and still got to get that last "jab" in.
It is a sad day for a lot of us. Obama won - congratulations. I know his fans are happy. So McCain does not speak as eloquently as Obama. I wouldn't think he would as Obama is a lawyer. But then again I was not voting for someone because of their speaking ability. I was voting for their issues they support.
Obama had none of them (or "it"). Obama's plans are bad for the country, but so many people fell under his spell with his speaking ability.
Tis a sad day for our country when someone is voted first because of their color and second the way they speak and how he convincingly tells you he's going to give all the poor and low income people stuff for free.
Did anyone notice his message in his speech tonight. He's already planting the idea that he's not going to fulfill all the promises he made during his campaign. So time will tell as to when he starts breaking all the promises.

McCain gave an eloquent speech
I felt sad watching his speech. You could tell it is a big dissappointment for him and all conservatives.
His speech was eloquent and sincere.
I think McCain lost control....(sm)
or better yet, never had control. I actually like McCain to a certain extent. I don't like his policies, but I do like his ability to get some things done. I think McCain's real pick for VP would have been Leiberman. I think he knew he would have to run a *middle of the road* campaign after Bush, but I think he was overruled by the pub party. This is evidenced by the fact that Palin seemed to be running a completely different campaign than McCain. McCain also voiced disagreement with other activities such as robo-calls. McCain has been on the ugly side of a campaign before, and I really didn't get the impression that he was happy with the way things were going. This makes me think he had no control.
Who the master mind behind the Palin pick was, I don't know yet, but I'm sure it'll come out sooner or later. Another possibility is that the pub party knew they couldn't win this election so they pretty much used McCain, and in the meantime tried to show some versatility by choosing Palin -- that didn't work out as planned I'm sure.
Either way, I don't think McCain is at fault for the Palin pick. A major concern during the election was that he had exhibited bad judgment by picking her. I tend to believe that the real problem was that he didn't have any control of the situation and wouldn't have had control as pres.
I only lost $1000 so far-Hubby lost $2000 in a week (sm)
so, I called his financial advisor yesterday and told him to put hubby in a "safe" plan. It's now in a money market fund that is part of his IRA.
I have no choice. I have to stay where I am. I have no "safe" available. Neither of us will be able to retire on what is now in our 401Ks and you're not the only one. We couldn't buy a car with Both our 401Ks, let alone live on it.
We are late starters for retirement not until our late 40s funds (most of our employers did not offer pensions). We are now of the first retirement tier and although we own our home outright, if we live until we are 90, there is no way we can live off retirement 401Ks or SS.
My husband's father told him back in the 50s that we would experience something like what is happening today and stated it would be worse than the ཙ crash. It is sure starting to look that way, but we will survive some way, I hope.
We need to pray for the people on SS now that cannot survive. I, for one, would love to help them, but can't help ourselves at this moment.
i could have been a bit more eloquent...
LOL i was just exasperated at all the arguing. Everyone has their own opinion and it is definitely okay to disagree and have the discussions, but I think when people start acting like their side has NEVER done anything is just ridiculous. Give Obama a break! what? like you EVER gave Bush a break! And i dont really care about either of them you know. I just can't stand the hypocrisy sometimes. IT goes for the sex scandals too. A republican does it they are the WORST because of their "family values". WHAT? Well what happened to the "tolerance" of the democrats?
it's CRAZY!!! that's why i dont spend much time over here it works me up too much and i want to be happy so i go chat on the gab board :)
That was a very eloquent post. It very clearly
described your angst about voting, and it's what lots of other people feel. It's true, no candidate is perfect, no platform will save the world, or even the country.
Whatever happens, happens, I guess. I only have one vote, and I intend to use it, but in the end the REAL truth is that for all of us regular everyday Joes and Janes, it really won't matter that much who wins...
In the end, we're still totally ON OUR OWN.
There is nothing whatsoever eloquent
You 2 sound like a couple of old bitties. Obama supporters are not a cult. This is what enthusiastic joyful support of a president looks like. Most of us are thanking our lucky stars that the shrub did not manage to snuff that out all together.
I agree with one of the posters below. If you keep on trying to turn hope and change into curse words, you deserve all the misery you apparently are wallowing in and will only succeed in marginalizing yourselves even further. There is nothing you can say or do to stop this train. Time to suck it up and get on with your lives, if you can even remember what that means beyond your uglier than ugly 24/7/365 witch hunt.
Very beautiful and eloquent
What a beautiful picture.
No, Obama is very eloquent.
.
That was eloquent and I am also PROUD !!! Gobama!
everyone else is sour grapes!
Talk about eloquent...and RIGHT, which are not always the same thing.
That guy has a political future in England, methinks.
One of the most eloquent posts to date! I hope you
everywhere you can, and not the lies that the 'pubs have been throwing around for far too long. The last 8 years have erased any and all hope that I will:
1 - Be able to retire.
2 - Be able to own a home.
3 - Be able to continue to fund my savings or IRA instead of siphoning from them.
4 - Be able to feel any sense of security whatsoever.
5 - Be able to travel any further than the local K-Mart two towns away, and be able to afford much once I get there.
She is a nice eloquent lady....until she starts...
with the "rabid Republicans" type comments. Not necessary to take potshots to impart information. Fact is, I like GP. We are from the same part of the country and have a lot in common, believe it or not.
As to Obama...look. I had concerns about him during the campaign. Those did not just disappear *poof* when he won the election. I still have concerns. I don't trust him. His first choice for his administration did not make any strides toward trust, in fact, made me even more concerned. I asked if the real Barack Obama would step up, and he has. Maybe the next choices will be better. Time will tell.
Actually, Obama is NOT "very eloquent" when he tries to speak
Lots of people have noticed this and commented on it. He becomes quite ordinary, hesitant, and as some have said, "professorial".
I'm sure you must have too...or you're simply too bedazzled by pixie dust to notice that Obama is really quite ordinary.
Eloquent post. Many valid reasons why I hope
Some of the sweetest and most devoted couples I know are same-sex. They pay taxes, are all highly educated and make my community a better place. They adore their children, their pets, their friends. To think they're denied the simple right of marriage, is heartbreaking.
Interestingly, I only have only one couple of friends who are married, who are same RACE. All the rest are black & white, white & Asian, Asian & Latino, Filippino and black, etc. I remember back when I was a teen, my parents actually didn't want me hanging out with a certain friend because her parents were a mixed-race couple. They thought it was 'scandalous'.
Well, that has all changed, and you better believe that every vote I cast will hopefully work towards bringing about equality in marriage for ALL couples.
How about the one God gave us?
*You reap what you sow.* That's what they've done.
Anyhoo, thought you said you were leaving. Hmmmmmmmm.... they didn't have a real high regard for the truth, either.
To anyone else reading this: This person isn't even trying to hide the fact that he/she is baiting us. Let's not permit them to do to the Liberal board what they did to the Conservative board.
Just don't read this person's posts any more. They said they were leaving. They aren't doing that, and their only intention is to incite. Let's take the high road and not fall for their crap!
You just gave yourself away, gt. SM
LMFAO = gt and a whole lot of other posters. You don't fool me.
Yes, and he said he gave her a ZERO.
nm
Oh, you just gave me the goosebumps!
We would indeed be better citizens of the world :o)
it gave me chills to see it on TV

if someone gave kc a pop quiz

What if they gave an election and nobody came?
Do you think this will be a high voter turn-out year? Voter registrations are waaaay up this year. (Barring, of course, the fraudulent registrations which will hopefully have been resoved by election day.)
It's certainly been the most hotly contested campaign season I can recall - and I've been voting since the late 70s. There's so much bravado and blustering coming from both camps, and the media clearly chose their darling many moons ago, it seems like people will either be so sick of it, or apathetic about the outcome, that a lot of folks simply won't bother to show up.
I know there's been a massive push to register young voters. Our college campus has been crawling with people trying to stir up support for a certain candidate. My daughter and her friends are apporached every time they attend an event, from football games to local band open mic nights. But do you think everyone will actually turn up on election day?
And this may be totally UN-PC, but I'm not so sure everybody SHOULD vote. I mean, if you're too lazy to register, are you really going to be doing your due diligence and educating yourself about each candidate's policies and proposals?
What do you all think about it?
I did that below. Also gave the name of the site.
.
Exactly, he never gave a definitive
answer to one question tonight. For that matter, he never does. It is always beat around the bush and then "lets talk about the issues people want to hear" and then never tell us anything. You never get a straightforward answer from him or from any of his constituents. No one can tell you what he plans to do or how he plans to do it.
Huh? What do you mean cases? He gave me...sm
his opinion, very simple case he said, open and shut. He is my brother, I didn't ask for a $500 legal consultation. Good grief.
Well now....who do you think gave them that authority?
That would be your democratically controlled congress. Before the bill, the secretary of the treasury couldn't do squat. So if Bush IS making all these decisions, it is because YOUR dem congress allowed him to. So why not go hold THEIR feet to the fire??
Just who gave Indonesia the right
to denounce a U.S. citizen's AMERICAN citizenship. Who cares what Indonesia did. At the time Obama was a kid for crying out loud and the school or government could put whatever they wanted on whatever they wanted. This citizenship non-issue gets more absurd with every post about it.
Oh, please, I gave as much as I could for Obama and I
am not a member of ACORN. You people just will not give up and know - yes we can and did!!!
OMG, you gave me a big laugh. And what about
the black/red dress Michelle wore when O held his victory speech in Illinois? Comments were: Different, astonishing etc......????
I gave you a joke......maybe you should
aim your bile at the first poster. While picking up ammo for my handgun last weekend - the salesman said "better stock up before the brownies come for us" - that's a redneck...............aka a$$hole
Hey, I gave you a pass on
'most of the people there was'. Or was that intentional?
We don't usually rag on hurried typo errors because we have no spell check on this forum. But not bothering to look up a spelling or making a rookie grammatical error are both noteworthy.
Now that gave me cold chills. SM
Mostly because I feel this very sentiment oozing from this board. Man, I hope none of the terrorists read here.
In the case you gave if the teacher said...sm
*I'm not in any way trying to tell you what you should believe of think but I am going to put this out there for you thing about...Some people believe Jesus Christ died and was born again for the sins of man.*
I still wouldn't see the problem. You have to listen to the entire statement. He said pointedly that he was not trying to tell the students how they should believe. But, if all you got over the newswaves were the butt end *Jesus died and was born again for the sins of man* then the entire point would be lost anyway.
That said, I think this teacher needs to find a job in a political science class where his comments would be more appropriate. I don't think he should be fired but a) moved to a political science class or b) told to stick to the cirriculum. I don't think either will be enough for those out for blood on this case.
I gave you two facts which you discounted...
a video that is a fact and a 747 that is a fact. If you want to think it just appeared in the desert for no good reason...that is up to you. If you see a video that is obviously Muhamed Atta and a man identified by all intelligence sources as being part of Hussein's government, and that they were probably just old buds having tea, that is also up to you. Both of those were reported on CNN, which is NOT a far right wing anything, much the opposite. Even dear old Wesley Clark admitted to both, and he is about as far left as you can get. And, my friend, your bias causes you to discard fact simply because it does not fit your agenda. What you are posting is your opinion based on what you accept or do not accept from what you read, just like mine is. What I have not discounted is video evidence and a 747. Makes me wonder what it will take to open your eyes if 9-11 did not do it. Oh yeah. I forgot. 9-11 had nothing to do with Saddam Hussein. Yeah. Uh huh. I had almost forgotten how condescending you can be in your postings. Thanks for reminding me. Good day!
Ok, I was wrong...gave you too much credit.
Go ahead and Bush-bash. Probably giving someone else a rest.
I gave source in first line of
post. Also said if you believe they are reliable on John Edwards, then you must believe they are reliable on SP. hence, goose, gander.
W gave dumb a bad rep. 80% want change.

My pastor gave info
This was not biased, showed side by side the two candidates and their moral issue debates. He did tell us that we could speak to him afterwards on a personal, friendly basis and ask if we wanted to know who he would recommend outside of church. Anybody who reads their Bible knows who any pastor is going to vote for based just on abortion issues, etc.
How did we get from O gave an honest answer
to this incoherent whatever it is?
Palin sat on TV herself and gave the information
??
The address you gave is not his residence.
Well, seems as though the rumor factor is alive and well. A little research is in order when passing along the latest gossip, so here you go.
Rahm Emmanuel lives at 4232 N. Hermitage. Here's a link to show you a copy of his paid-in-full property tax on his homestead exempted residence:
http://www.sangamonwatercolor.org/cap/rahmbillpaidfull.jpg
I found it here:
http://www.progressillinois.com/2008/11/07/rahm-emanuel-property-taxes
The address you gave is the office of the Rahm Emanuel and Amy Rule Charitable Foundation. They donate to the charities of their choice. Big whoop. You seem to have missed the point of the article, but let's say this loud and clear. Rahm Emmanuel is not evading property taxes on his home, as you can see from the link provided above that clearly shows how much me pays on his residence. There is no THERE there.
And I gave him money and he can spend anyway he wants.
I will be watching with great expectations.
Said he had lots of money, I know I gave as much as I could.
NM
China gave (or "loaned") sm
us money, so we owe them. I think my statement and yours is saying the same thing, just from a different perspective.
I don't know what you mean by not being able to "help" me with my last statement. It speaks for itself and does not require any help. If, by your statement, you mean you don't understand, this has been discussed many times on this board and the faith board. If you don't understand, I would be happy to help you.
None. Bush gave him the job for helping out in campaign (sm)
Guess he figured anybody could fill the spot. I believe there might be other top officials of FEMA who also got jobs instead of thank you notes for helping Bush be reelected.
Around the time of the campaign, a document came out citing FEMA's lack of qualified leadership, but it was pretty much dismissed as political mud-slinging.
Yes, I agree she gave a great response.
Whoops. Gave the wrong link. sm
Here it is:

He gave a speech on the economy yestereday....
all the news sources you watch probably don't cover him. What difference does it make, actually? Your mind is made up...it doesn't matter what comes out about Obama or what he says or what he doesn't say. He gives a nonanswer and it is like gospel handed down from the mountain. Anyone on the other ticket gives a nonanswer and they are inexperienced buffoons.
All I can say is, if he is elected, I hope you are not experiencing severe buyer's remorse this time next year.
At least when he screws everything up I won't have to lament having given him the golden opportunity to do so. :)
Roe vs Wade gave us the right to choose years ago. nm

If she gave sensible or informed answers it was because they were prewritten.

When Obama gave his speech tonight, I...
noticed the audience was made up of different ethnic groups. What I also noticed was how they embraced one another - whites were hugging blacks, blacks were hugging whites, etc, etc. Obama said he wanted to bring about change and he already has begun to accomplish that. When he says, "Yes We Can," he is talking about overcoming adversity.
A lot of you may not have voted for Obama, but don't be bitter and angry because he won. When you become bitter and angry, you only hurt yourself in the long run.
You mean like all the people in congress who just gave themselves pay raises
Pelosi, Reid and other people in congress that just voted themselves in a pay raise without so much as a thought to what is happeneing in the economy. "Hey Sam Smith just lost his job and he's got 2 kids, a sick wife to support, and his house is getting ready for foreclosure. Many Americans are finding themselves out of jobs and homes, hey I know, lets give ourselves another raise, $180K a year is not enough"
