a bold agenda
and worthwhile getting started but I believe you have to be dead 100 days or 100 years to get a national holiday. Something about historic prespective or some such.
a bold, fresh piece of opinion
Karl Rove - too smart by half. He came up with the brillant idea to aid the corporate republicans by manipulating the low-information voters who live their lives by unexamined slogans, prejudices, and fear-based principles. This worked for a while -- as shown by not only the election but the REelection of George W. However, he did not anticipate that this large, unruly group would actually take over the republican party and elevate the unexceptional -- i.e, Sara Palin and Joe the Plumber, to hero status. Their thinking being, "I are smart enough to run this here country, so why not Sara Palin - she are one like me!" Just imagine -- I savor this image - the faces of the corporate repubs - Mitten Romney, Rudy-the-911, George HR, etc., when they realized that the group they wished to control to do their bidding against their very own self interests had coopted the party!! I love it.
And what part of two-faced do you use to

A Two-Faced Liar? Aw-RIGHT!
Friday 30 January 2009
by: Greg Palast, t r u t h o u t | Perspective
Republicans are right. President Barack Obama treated them like dirt, didn't give a dam what they thought about his stimulus package, loaded it with a bunch of programs that will last for years and will never leave the budget, is giving away money disguised as "tax refunds," and is sneaking in huge changes in policy, from schools to health care, using the pretext of an economic emergency.
Way to go, Mr. O! Mr. Down-and-Dirty Chicago pol. Street-fightin' man. Covering over his break-your-face power play with a "we're all post-partisan friends" BS.
And it's about time.
Frankly, I was worried about this guy. Obama's appointing Clinton-droids to the Cabinet, bloated incompetents like Larry Summers as "Economics Czar," made me fear for my country, that we'd gotten another Democrat who wished he were a Republican.
Then came Obama's money bomb. The House bill included $125 billion for schools (TRIPLING federal spending on education), expanding insurance coverage to the unemployed, making the most progressive change in the tax code in four decades by creating a $500 credit against social security payroll deductions, and so on.
It's as if Obama dug up Ronald Reagan's carcass and put a stake through The Gipper's anti-government heart. Aw-RIGHT!
About the only concession Obama threw to the right-wing trogs was to remove the subsidy for condoms, leaving hooker-happy GOP Senators, like David Vitter, to pay for their own protection. S'OK with me.
And here's the proof that Bam is The Man: Not one single Republican congressman voted for the bill. And that means that Obama didn't compromise, the way Clinton and Carter would have, to win the love of these condom-less jerks.
And we didn't need'm. Nyah! Nyah! Nyah!
Now I understand Obama's weird moves: dinner with those creepy conservative columnists, earnest meetings at the White House with the Republican leaders, a dramatic begging foray into Senate offices. Just as the Republicans say, it was all a fraud. Obama was pure Chicago, Boss Daley in a slim skin, putting his arms around his enemies, pretending to listen and care and compromise, then slowly, quietly, slipping in the knife. All while the media praises Obama's "post-partisanship." Heh heh heh.
Love it. Now we know why Obama picked that vindictive little viper Rahm Emanuel as staff chief: everyone visiting the Oval office will be greeted by the Windy City hit man who would hack up your grandma if you mess with the Godfather-in-Chief.
I don't know about you, but THIS is the change I've been waiting for.
Will it last? We'll see if Obama caves in to more tax cuts to investment bankers. We'll see if he stops the sub-prime scum-bags from foreclosing on frightened families. We'll see if he stands up to the whining, gormless generals who don't know how to get our troops out of Iraq. (In SHIPS, you doofuses!)
Look, don't get your hopes up. But it may turn out the new president's ... a Democrat!

And you are a bald-faced liar.
I have not copied and posted ONE thing from Huffington Post. The only thing I copied and posted from the post above was the insults that were hurled at me, simply because I happen to agree with JTBB and "the truth is out there."
We all know that some of us CANNOT be agreeable with the "girls" that aren't in the "clique," or else we're punished by insults and, in your case, lies.
Isn't that the truth, even when faced with FACTS, gt just ignores them.
x
The most daunting challenge this country has ever faced? LOL!!!
Wow. You apparently know nothing about US History, do you?
But thanks for the laugh, Chicken Little.
Obama's just another dude in the chair, no matter how much 'celebrity' status you want to endow him with. He'll face challenges like all the other presidents. He'll succeed at some things and fail miserably at others, like all other presidents.
Why is everyone so quick to knight this guy, who hasn't done anything yet but flash his pearly whites at the camera and pump out a bunch of campaign promises?
Here's an idea. Let's let the dude take office before we award him the title of saviour of the planet?
He may be great. He may stink. But you simply can't tell yet. The countdown on this forum just shows how desperate people are to believe their problems are not their fault.
Somewhere in the past century, America went from being the Land of Opportunity to being the Land of the Big Handout. And now Brother Obama is gonna save us from ourselves. Is that right?
Time will tell, Chicken Little.
Time will tell.
I caught that too.. Don't know if he
intended for it to come across the way I took it, but it felt like a dig to whites. Disappointing.
I caught that
I just can't stand to watch Keith talk about anything because he always misses the point. That was my point, which you missed, just like Keith.
She wasn't *caught* in anything.
Stop lying. You lose all credibility when you do that.
Biden Caught In A Lie
Posted on September 4, 2008 by nuke
This really couldn’t have come at a worse time for Joe Biden. Speaking on Fox and Friends, Sen. Biden, the Democrat VP nominee denied reports from ABC news that if elected, he planned on pursuing criminal charges against the Bush Administration.
“That’s not true. I don’t know where that report’s coming from,” Biden told Fox & Friends.
Here you go Joe. See if this jogs your memory just a bit.
Poor old Joe. I expect the “Dump Biden” movement to pick up steam in the next few days.
h/t FreeRepublic
yeah, i caught that too.
x
I caught this last night. Wow,
Obama would be wise to find a place somewhere for Mr. Pickins as an energy advisor -- he's got it all figured out!!
Hmmm....why are you so caught up in what's on
--
I caught the nasty racist
little dig there. I got that you were saying that Obama is ahead but his being black will doom him. I didn't miss your sneaky way of signalling your fellow Rothschilds.
Corrupt Obama caught in the act.
How's this for abuse of power?
While in the Illinois State Senate, Barack Obama sure seems to have played footloose and fancy free with the taxpayer's money, to the benefit of his own circle of family and friends.
A $25,000 grant to his first cousin.
$100,000 for a garden for one of his campaign workers
$100,000 for Father Pflager to badmouth Hillary Clinton from his pulpit.
$75,000 to FORUM, a group who helped Obama pay off the debt from his failed 2000 Senate race.
Yeah, THIS is the guy I'm going to trust with 'changing' the way government does business.
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Read.aspx?GUID=6BA619B2-88A2-4245-8617-AA0A07F47068
Obama caught red handed.....
He finally said the words "SPREAD THE WEALTH" when asked by a plumber about raising his taxes. THe plumber told him he could not afford to have his taxes raised because that would keep him from being able to expand his business, EMPLOY more folks, etc. Obama told him yes he would but ONLY to help "spread the wealth" and make it fairer for others. That man couldn't care less about small businesses. If that isn't about the most ignorant/self-absorbed/SOCIALIST thing I have ever heard. Anyone who still thinks he's a good deal needs a reality check.
Even the Wall Street Journal says his policies are going to put businesses OUT OF BUSINESS because they cannot afford these ridiculous policy mandates. This man is looking out for only one people and definitely NOT the country. Now, he is going back and asking his "advisors" to REDO ANOTHER ECONOMIC POLICY so the one everyone is jumping on as WONDERFUL NEWS...be advised, it is changing again!!!
He is now wanting MORE money to give to MORE people so we can keep MORE PEOPLE on the welfare roll. KEEP IT UP BUDDY.....SOCIALISM, SOCIALISM, SOCIALISM!!
I caught this deceit during the last debate
When Obama was asked if he would sign the ban against partial-birth abortion he responded he would if there was a clause allowing it in cases where the mother's health was at risk. Those of us who lived through the ྂs will recall this jargon effectively legalized second-into-third-trimester abortions under any circumstances--A physician had only to sign a form stating the woman's mental health was in jeopardy. I remember the actual coercion involved as it happened to someone very close to me, and--hate to admit it--I worked in an abortion clinic for a short time. Planned Parenthood and other "pro-choice" organizations are in reality pro-killing mills that are allocated federal and state funding according to the number of abortions they perform. It's to their obvious benefit that they "counsel" women towards the termination of their pregnancies.
Obama is slick and tried to slide that one through unnoticed. Beware.
I think I hit a nerve because you get caught in errors often
...if you want to succeed in this business
I didn't really have an intention. That post just caught my eye. nm
Musta caught the virus from "why-in-the-
.Pesky. Hard to get rid of.
I caught a clip of Bill O'Reilly
chewing Barney Frank a new butt during an interview. He basically told him to claim the blame instead of trying to push it on others and called him a coward. I was just sitting on the couch with my mouth open in shock. I'm glad someone told the stupid SOB though. Needless to say, Barney Frank didn't get to say much. Also, if Barney Frank got all that money from these banks, why can't he afford to get some dentures on the top? I can't stand to hear him talk. PUT SOME TEETH IN! SHEESH.
Caught parts of it today on MSNBC sm
Heard that she would not do the script they had planned for her. What snipits I saw were not that complimentary of her at all. Oh well, just curious, don't think she likes to be "caught up" in anything, ignoring interviews, etc. Couric made her look bad and Couric is for Obama, I believe. Just keeping eyes and ears open, not much time left to decide. Not looking good for her as of now.
Oh brother - it amazes me how many are caught up in a fantasy
.
You caught me, so that would make you Dickwad Cheney.
xx
Caught an ad-Barney Frank is going to be on O'Reilley
tonight or Thursday night? I think BF is a glutton for punishment. I hope, but doubt, BF will answer some questions instead of blowing smoke again.
Caught him on Larry King one night last week.
He's a very funny and intelligent man....
I especially enjoyed the real refreshing lie I caught him in the other day...did you catch it?
...no, guess not...no one in the media called him on it either.
Here, let me give you a hint. Obama said that all of the conservative and liberal economists agreed that his economy recovery plan was good (or would work, or something like that).
The lie being that "all the conservative economists" part.
That was one, big, fat, honking lie.....no one even blinked and took his word for it.
My DH says there's at least a half dozen conservative economists out there that don't agree with Obama...and yet....if Obama says they do....everyone believes him.
He lies and you don't even know it, he's so smooth about it.....
But some of us know he does...lie that is......he's getting real good at talking both sides of the issues, so that if something does or doesn't come to pass, he can say I told you so....or whatever needs to be said to save his you know whatsis.
I think he's learned a lot from the Clintons lately, don't you?
You caught me, I just "lurk" here waiting to pounce on you. Now who's paranoid?
I post when the discussion moves me or when I read something completely hilarious, like you who's who in Gay America list.
Fox News Caught Repeatedly Cropping, Manipulating Video
Hey, kids! Do you ever get tired of Fox News' crops? I don't mean the food
they might be literally growing, in Glenn Beck's Doom Room, in preparation for
Imminent Socialist Panic. I'm talking about the way they manipulate video to
make it look like people are just straight up saying the opposite thing they
actually said. Well, it's been bothering the media critics at Media Matters For
America for some time, and they have, for a long time, been cataloging "examples
of Fox News hosts and correspondents cropping comments by progressives and
Democratic political figures in a manner that misrepresents them." A new mash-up
video offers some side-by-side examples of what they're talking about.
Some constructive criticism? I think the third example -- Obama's "empathy"
criteria for Supreme Court justice -- isn't the best example of a Fox cropping.
While it's certainly true that Major Garrett's statement, "That aggravates those
who feel that justices should follow the Constitution and legislative intent,"
seems to neatly ignore the fact that Obama's next statement was "I will seek
someone who is dedicated to the rule of law, who honors our Constitutional
traditions, who respects the integrity of the judicial process, and the
appropriate limits of the judicial role," the fact is, just about every news
organization honed in on the "empathy" part of the statement. It became the
sound bite from that press exchange.
In a more lengthy report, however, Media Matters has other candidates that
are fitting examples of these games with videotape, well worth reviewing. Key
examples include Sean Hannity's intentional omission of Obama's admonishment of
Europeans' "casual...insidious" anti-Americanism to make it look like Obama was
apologizing for the United States, and Wendell Goler's splice-happy report that
made it look like Obama was in favor of "European-style health care," when he
was actually specifically opposing it. Also close to my heart is Fox's
misleading insertion of an out-of-context Joe Biden clip into a report, for
which the network eventually had to apologize. At the time, I opined:
It's very sad, and weird, because Fox News would have made their point just
fine if they hadn't included the misleading part of this clip. All they've
really done is demonstrate that they do not have enough faith in their own
editorial premises to avoid bolstering them with falsehoods. But more to the
point, whoever is responsible for putting this video together needs to accept a
new prevailing reality, that stupid little lies like this will be debunked and
exposed very quickly, so they may as well just cut out this nonsense
entirely.
Yet they persist!

CNN Rick Sanchez report on who really broke the cease fire, 01/07/2009
Why are you McCain people so desperate? You are just like McCain. No plan. Just criticism of the
other candidate. I guess you want the same old thing we have had for the past 8 years. God forbid McCain win with that wild woman, Palin.
McCain
Not only will he refuse to get out of Iraq unless there is some sort of clear victory, even if it takes "100 years" or "1000 years" (his words), jokes about how to handle Iran is "Bom, bom, bom, bom, bomb Iran" (to the tune of a Beach Boys song), he also wants to kick Russia out of the G8 and not let China or India in. Way to place nice with the up-and-coming superpowers - I'm sure that will do great things for our country in years to come.
There are certain things I like about him (strict belief in Geneva Convention, willing to work across party lines), but his warmongering side scares the you-know-what out of me.
McCain's age
Whether his military uniform helps his image depends on what kind of world we want to be living in tomorrow, not the one we live in now. A lot of people will be showing up at the polls to say that status quo is not acceptable, especially when it comes to solving problems by waging wars. Concerns over his age, senility and/or Alzheimer’s are legitimate if you do the math. Those possibilities are very real and could just as easily happen early in his term as later. He has shown some early signs like his problems with word retrieval, mispronunciation, confusion, forgetting what he is saying and blank staring spells.
The teleprompter comment is also kind of a cheap shot. Besides that, it is not true, unless you believe everything you hear on Fox or YouTube. He is an excellent orator and delivered very spontaneous and inspiring responses in the town hall meetings during the primaries and in news conferences. YHe is a much better speaker than McCain.
McCain....you mean
I can't believe anyone would vote for him after what Bush just did to us for 8 years.
Well, McCain's gas in his car came from
oil from a country that supports terrorism. McCain a supporter of terrorism? You can interpret this any way you like.
if McCain gets in
that will be the tenor of the New Secretary of State.
Why McCain?
http://www.johnmccain.com/Undecided/WhyMcCain.htm
McCain looks
like he hurts. It makes me uncomfortable to watch. Obama has a significantly larger amt of data in his mind (constitutional law professor, etc) to sort through, gather, and assemble before he responds to a question. It is to his favor that he does not immediately yelp out an answer like a trained seal.
Thank you. I think McCain's age ... sm
Is what worries me so much about this situation. I mean, people die at different ages, it's true, but if McCain were 20 years younger, I don't think I'd be quite as worried. But he's 72, has had skin cancer several times, and I read (haven't verified) that both his father and grandfather died suddenly of heart attacks when they were younger than he is now. Now that might not mean anything. After all, isnt' his mother in her 90s? But it just worries me. It would be different if he wanted Palin to have a cabinet position where she could, I don't know, hone her skills, cut her teeth in Washington, so to speak, but to put her is a position of leading our country if something happens to McCain? It just makes me very nervous.
Oh, of course. McCain will get the best...sm
Healthcare. Too bad for the rest of us peons though!
Still, the best healthcare in the U.S. can't turn back time and make him young again. He is really getting up there, and the campaign must be wearing on him. I don't know how any of them can stand all the travel that comes with campaigning.
The New McCain!
The Ugly New McCain
Wednesday, September 17, 2008; Page
Following his loss to George W. Bush in the 2000 South Carolina primary, John McCain did something extraordinary: He confessed to lying about how he felt about the Confederate battle flag, which he actually abhorred. "I broke my promise to always tell the truth," McCain said. Now he has broken that promise so completely that the John McCain of old is unrecognizable. He has become the sort of politician he once despised.
') ;
// -->
The precise moment of McCain's abasement came, would you believe, not at some news conference or on one of the Sunday shows but on "The View," the daytime TV show created by Barbara Walters. Last week, one of the co-hosts, Joy Behar, took McCain to task for some of the ads his campaign has been running. One deliberately mischaracterized what Barack Obama had said about putting lipstick on a pig -- an Americanism that McCain himself has used. The other asserted that Obama supported teaching sex education to kindergarteners.
"We know that those two ads are untrue," Behar said. "They are lies."
Freeze. Close in on McCain. This was the moment. He has largely been avoiding the press. The Straight Talk Express is now just a brand, an ad slogan like "Home Cooking" or "We Will Not Be Undersold." Until then, it was possible for McCain to say that he had not really known about the ads, that the formulation "I approve this message" was just boilerplate. But he didn't.
"Actually, they are not lies," he said.
Actually, they are.
McCain has turned ugly. His dishonesty would be unacceptable in any politician, but McCain has always set his own bar higher than most. He has contempt for most of his colleagues for that very reason: They lie. He tells the truth. He internalizes the code of the McCains -- his grandfather, his father: both admirals of the shining sea. He serves his country differently, that's all -- but just as honorably. No more, though.
I am one of the journalists accused over the years of being in the tank for McCain. Guilty. Those doing the accusing usually attributed my feelings to McCain being accessible. This is the journalist-as-puppy school of thought: Give us a treat, and we will leap into a politician's lap.
Not so. What impressed me most about McCain was the effect he had on his audiences, particularly young people. When he talked about service to a cause greater than oneself, he struck a chord. He expressed his message in words, but he packaged it in the McCain story -- that man, beaten to a pulp, who chose honor over freedom. This had nothing to do with access. It had to do with integrity.
McCain has soiled all that. His opportunistic and irresponsible choice of Sarah Palin as his political heir -- the person in whose hands he would leave the country -- is a form of personal treason, a betrayal of all he once stood for. Palin, no matter what her other attributes, is shockingly unprepared to become president. McCain knows that. He means to win, which is all right; he means to win at all costs, which is not.
At a forum last week at Columbia University, McCain said, "But right now we have to restore trust and confidence in government." This was always the promise of John McCain, the single best reason to vote for him. America has been cheated on too many times -- the lies of Vietnam and Watergate and Iraq. So many lies. Who believes that in Afghanistan last month, only five civilians were killed by the American military in an airstrike, instead of the approximately 90 claimed by the Afghan government? Not me. I first gave up on the military during Vietnam and then again when it covered up the death of Pat Tillman, the Army Ranger and former NFL player who was killed in 2004 by friendly fire.
McCain was going to fix all that. He was going to look the American people in the eyes and say, not me. I will not lie to you. I am John McCain, son and grandson of admirals. I tell the truth.
But Joy Behar knew better. And so McCain lied about his lying and maybe thinks that if he wins the election, he can -- as he did in South Carolina -- renounce who he was and what he did and resume his old persona. It won't work. Karl Marx got one thing right -- what he said about history repeating itself. Once is tragedy, a second time is farce. John McCain is both.
cohenr@washpost.com
or like when McCain said . . .
Obama called her a pig and then on Monday said he didn't
it has to do with McCain and
Bush systematically deregulating (savings and loans - Keating 5) and wall street so that the souless corporations can do whatever they want without any limits. they have removed the safety factors built into the system after the great depression. Well, now we have the situation that deregulation brings. As Romney said at this years' repub convention - McCain is going to go at all the regulations on industry with a weed wacker.
McCain
Respecting his service to his country is one thing. He is only one of thousands who have done the same thing. or worse, died for their country, and are just as deserving of being honored as McCain. Trusting him to lead this country is another thing entirely.
Seeing as McCain may not . . .
live out his term, she is running for the top spot.
Does McCain even know what he is saying.
Maybe he had better hit the beach with the flip-flops.

He said, he said. I believe what McCain said,
you believe what Obama said. McCain said he told Obama he was going to suspend his campaign and when Obama spoke just now he stated the same thing, only says "I didn't know he meant it now" or some such. I don't buy that. He just didn't think McCain was serious. Turns out he was.
Can any McCain fan or Rep. tell me why
McCain has supported legislation to give tax breaks to companies that outsource jobs? I'm asking because I don't know. I figured you guys have read a lot of his stuff and thought you might know off the top of your head. I could always try to find it but am finding myself lazy tonight and thought someone might be in the know without having to Google it.
And you think McCain is going to do any better?
What a mess!
Oh and saw on the news that this bailout will affect even the people who do live within their means because it means that the Jones' house that gets foreclosed on will reduce the amount my house is worth and therefore I lose too! Something needs to be done and quick!
It is not fair to simply point out Obama's plans when you do not mention McCain's either. What are McCain's plans? All he seems to do is "knock" Obama. Oh better consider what Palin has to say too, you know McCain is getting no younger or any healthier for that matter.
McCain
Someone with character....hmm. You best not vote then.
