Again, skirted the real issue. The fact is, he WAS in court, and he chose to lie under oath. As an officer of the court (he was a lawyer) he knew full well what he was doing was against the law, but he felt himself above the law, and because the congress, both sides of the aisle, caved on the impeachment vote he proved it. Had he been truly sorry, wanted truly what was best for the country, and had any honor left, he would have stepped down. He chose not to. I did not ever have a great opinion of him; however, any respect I ever felt for him or his party died then. They say bad times either bring out the best in you or the worst...and it definitely brought out the worst in him. Yet you and others like you continue to defend him by saying something ludicrous like he should not have been in court anyway so it was okay to commit a felony, break his presidential oath and the law of the land, and say he should not step down. If Bush got caught diddling with an intern in the White House and then lied about it, would you be so understanding? Of course not. Would you be calling it a witch hunt? Not hardly. You would be yelling impeachment and/or resign from the rooftops. One thing I DO believe. If Bush was caught doing that he would take it on the chin and would resign (if he survived after telling Laura). Yes, Clinton was disbarred (obviously once it was proven that he perjured himself even Democrats in the ABA had to vote for that...they had no choice) and fined $25,000...to him that is chum change. A slap on the wrist. But his party never censored him, and to this day defend him. That is what I really do not understand about Democrats. They take the party line first, no matter what, no matter how wrong and will defend the most abhorrent behavior (operating a prostitution ring from your Washington apartment, having actual sex with underage page and then bragging about it, shall I go on. No one condemned those people for those acts. They defended them and re-elected two of them, and if Clinton had been able to run again I have no doubt they would have tried really hard to re-elect him too). I have to say, at least the Republicans (all the ones I have seen interviewed) call Mark Foley what he is and don't try to defend him or his indefensible actions. I do not understand the Democrats' value system. I have tried; I just do not get it. Like americangirl, that is my last post on the subject. Have a good day!
