So, what do you think he should have done? Condemn the actions of the Iranian govt? That would only serve to undermine the protestors as the Iranian govt would then use "US intervention" as a means to prove their point.

Perhaps we should just go bomb, bomb, bomb Iran, as McCain has suggested in the past?

Since you have such a problem with what Obama's doing, what exactly would be your alternative?
