It has finally come to the point where those of us who are aware and know what is coming and what we face will have to leave the rest to their own devices. The really funny thing is, the liberals and their philosophy are especially loathsome to the Muslims with their support of gay rights, abortion, etc. It's quite a contrast.

British government security advisors and the national media are doing their level best to strike rampant irrational paranoid terror into the hearts of UK citizens by identifying the latest targets of the war on terror as pregnant women and toddlers.
Absurd delirious fearmongering continues in the British media with the Sun tabloid, Britain's most braindead and unfortunately also most popular newspaper screaming, HATE-filled mums willing to sacrifice themselves and their BABIES are being hunted in the war on terror.
Yes that's right you haven't slipped into an upside down parallel universe - pregnant women and mothers with young babies are the new Al-Qaeda.
The evidence?
The nightmare is that mums carrying tiny tots would provide “very good cover” and not raise suspicions among even the most alert security guards.
The Sun cited a senior Government security adviser as their source.
So let's ignore that guy with the turban who looks like Mohammed Atta and instead focus our magic screening wand on Mrs. Smith and her newborn infant.
Extra pat downs for young mums and making toddlers take their shoes off - boy do I feel safer now.
What's the next threat? Barney the purple dinosaur?
Of course we know what this is all designed to accomplish - it's about broadening the terrorist definition to the point where everyone's a suspect and everybody's behavior is under preposterous and suffocating scrutiny.
The implication that the most benign, harmless and innocent members of our society could in actuality be terrorist suicide bombers is a sick ploy crafted to ensure that absolutely no one is allowed to escape the self-regulating stench of being under suspicion.
It is also intended to brainwash the population that terrorists are potentially hiding under their beds, that they are everywhere and that only by a system of reporting suspicious behavior and unquestionably trusting the government will they too avoid the accusing finger.
This is classic Cold War style behavioral conditioning and the Neo-Fascist architects know exactly what they're doing.
Despite the status of alert returning to previous levels in both the US and the UK, ridiculous restrictions on travelers remain in place. Every time a new bout of fearmongering washes over a stupefied public, they are more pliable to new ways of being shoved around by government enforcers, even after the alleged plot has been foiled.
The fearmongering never subsides, it is always ratcheted up another peg in anticipation for future manufactured threats.
The future of airport security?
Why don't they just ban any luggage, clothing or personal accessories whatsoever and have done with it? Better yet - why not strap every passenger into a straight jacket from the moment they enter the airport?
In Knoxville, TSA officials are testing a biometric scanner device which interrogates passengers about their 'hostile intent' by asking a barrage of questions. If you thought the current delays and blanket 'everybody's a criminal terrorist' attitude were annoying enough, you ain't seen nothing yet.
In a similar example to the mothers and babies mindlessness, the London Guardian reports that located in the tranquil and peaceful rural surroundings of the British Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are terrorist training camps where Al-Qaeda devotees are preparing for their next big attack.
What's next? Bomb making factories under the Atlantic Ocean? Islamo Fascist brainwashing schools at the North Pole?
The sheer stupidity implicit in the Guardian article is bewildering. If the police haven't even questioned the alleged terrorists, allowing them to gather evidence of terrorist activity, because they're conducting covert surveillance of the group then why in God's name have they told a national newspaper, who in turn have splashed the story all over their front page?
If these supposed terrorists didn't know they were under surveillance before then they sure do now!
I live on the edge of the Peak District nearby the kind of areas being fingered as terrorist training areas. The closest thing to Al-Qaeda like activity up here is when a discourteous rambler leaves a farm gate open.
Again, it's about people who live in the country being smothered with the same raving paranoia and cockamamie fearmongering city-dwellers are subjected to. Woe betide anyone living in a converted barn house in the middle of miles and miles of wilderness think they can escape the war on terror - it applies to anything!

I was in Italy once and couldn't swim because the local shoe factory had just poured all their dye into the Med and it was red. Most of the world drive cars with leaded gasoline. We do more to preserve the environment than many countries.

As to the prescription drug thing, you are correct. However, not being able to get an operation you need vs having to pay more for a drug...seems like apples to oranges to me.
My main gripe about socialized medicine is number one, the financial burden it will place on ALL taxpayers, and number two, having centralized health care administered by the government.
I am not opposed to everyone sitting down, providers, insurance companies, etc. trying to lower the cost of health care, which is what we need to do, not trot out a huge entitlement that cannot sustain itself. We can't just keep throwing more money at things. Eventually we need to solve the root problems.

Lower overhead, offer the drugs at a reasonable price, and if the rest of the pharmacies want to compete they will have to do the same. It works in other areas of business, it should work with drugs too. Wal-Mart has started with their $4 and $9 prescriptions. I invite everyone to go there, read what is offered and the qualifications. It is saving a lot of people a lot of money! It is the same if you have insurance or you have no insurance. Some states don't allow it but in any state where they can, Wal-Mart offers it. Go check their website. Yes, it is the generic not the brand, but a lot of us take the generic anyway. I do for BP. That is $4 total cost to you. Anyway...those of you on prescription meds...check out the Wal-Mart website and see if it is available in a Wal-Mart near you.

Job security....yes. I am working for the same company I was then. Standard of living? Has maintained throughout. Savings? I have always put a certain amount of paycheck into savings. That has not changed. I am sure there are many whose experience is not mine; I suspect there are many whose does. That could be said about any 4- or 8-year period...

I was brought up Buy American made products, keep American jobs.
Always bought American made cars and bought products from companies where my family was employed. Now look at America? We are definitely connected all around the world.
My feeling? Obama states he wants to start from the poor upward. Not the other way around like it has been for quite awhile. That to me does not necessarily mean just in America, but around the world by taking the poorest countries and working upward so America's pay wages and everything else will be so low and comparable to the poorest countries. After all, we are now connected together.
Cannot wait to see what will happen with the Swine flu this fall with the second wave and what it will do to the economy of all the countries combined at once.

I am sorry, but I respectfully disagree with you - any child born to American parents is an American even if they are born overseas. The birth has to be registered with the United States, but they are still an American even if they are born in the foreign hospital.

Corporations are not the cause of ill in this country. They are the backbone of the economy in this country. That is simple economics 101. And I am certainly not rich...and I certainly am not on the upper echelon of a corporation, but I do understand reality and I understand how the economy works. Yes, there is wrongdoing by some upper level folks in corporations. There is wrongdoing in the government. Where there is power, there will be wrongdoing. But for every Enron there are thousands of other good, solid companies that employ thousands of Americans, but the DNC does not share the success stories, because it does not promote their agenda. In order to control people they want them beholden to government and hating free enterprise. They want big government, total power, and control. And following Alinksy's program...you have to instill class warfare. You have to make corporations the enemy. You have to make classes envy the next rung up. Classic Marxist socialism. It is being played out in this country every day.

I don't know why I put the moccasin article on the other board. I guess, being an optimist, I thought this was 1 thing we could agree on, but alas, tis not true. I might add that $21 is incredibly cheap. Handmade moccasins made the traditional way, sewn by hand with sinew and leather strips usually cost around $50 to 75$ for the most plain design. I hope some of you will do this. It would mean more than you know.

Hi American Woman! Come on back here regularly. We have some really good liberal posters now. Yes, Im in CA. The fires are all around me but havent come to the desert yet (where I am). They have been moving towards the ocean instead (opposite direction). With a change of the wind, though, the fires could change direction, then they would come over the Sierra Nevada Mountains to get to the desert. About two years ago a fire came up over the mountains and you could see it from my house and the air was thick with smoke and soot. Was quite scary..but the firefighters were able to get it out. Yup, CA, the land of mudslides, wildfires, earthquakes, torrential rains (when it does rain..smile). So good to hear from ya..Come on back here. The board isnt the same without ya. :o).

The more you work, the more they take away. It will be the middle class people to suffer from this. The rich will survive. The low-income and no income people will be the ones to benefit from this. This just encourages people to not work hard. The more money you make by working hard.....you will be penalized and that hard earned money of yours will be given to someone who doesn't work. This will be a huge snow ball that will eventually crush us entirely as more and more people work less and then the middle class and the rich will have even more people to support. I gladly pay more if necessary to buy American made but it is getting so hard to find anything made in America. Remember when Wal-Mart's slogan was "Buy American" and now it's "Bring It Home to America?" I don't shop there since Sam died and the whole goshdanged conglomerate changed. They sell JUNK made in China and everywhere but America. We need to start thinking American jobs and to do that we have to quit buying just "cheap" and as someone else said, you usually get what you pay for. I wouldn't think of buying fruits and vegetables from Wal-Mart anyway, they're imported and there is something just disgusting about stuff that is grown with human fertilizer!

As for the freeloaders, I could not possibly agree with you more. I just see the politics thing a little differently, that's all. When I think about the big bank bail-out that has threatened the secure retirement that my husband and I worked so hard for for so many years, I am past grouchy, I am furious. Bush pushed for it, Obama and McCain voted for it so how the heck can I expect things to get better no matter which one of these creepy crooks are elected?
I tell you what though, I feel more sorry for you and the young 'uns in your age group (my kids are 46, 44, 42 and 38), my grandchildren (22, 21, 18, 16, 15 and 8) and great-grandchild (age 3) more than for myself and my husband. As I see it things are going to get a lot worse before they get better. The only one of my children who has any retirement benefits is my youngest, a plumber, who aspires to own his own business and is trying so hard to save enough money to start his own business. He's a superintendent for a big plumbing company in Houston, lives modestly and still has a hard time trying to save money. His wife is an MT and she works hard, fighting for work and ever decreasing pay. Then there's the matter of Social Security, which I doubt will be there when you reach that age, mostly because it is being siphoned off to support freeloaders.

More added uncertainty as to who he really, really is. At least with McCain, there is none of this distrust. I do not have to worry that McCain is hanging around terrorists, where he was born and if he is a true US citizen, if he was raised and taught by a pastor for 20 years to learn hate, and could go on and on. As for O, there is no trust for me. He seems deceitful. He gets mad when newspapers go against him and then kicks them off the plane and so on. Part of it is our fault for buying foreign made cars. Yes, the 3 car companies need to make better quality cars. I have a post about the 3 car companies just 2 above this.

and fuel systems. He does not work directly for one of the big 3 but his company ( very large, world-wide) has been feeling the trickle down for years. You are right that there are not perfect alternatives available currently to solve all of our problems but there are alternatives to help reduce the impact of the $4/gallon gas prices (that have gotten a lot of us in a mess). There are also many alternatives to the giant SUVs that the American makers push with the interest rates and financing. Why do you think the Hummer became so common place? Because they were thinking of stopping production but decided to lower the price, create a smaller version, and market it as being a family car. Now after a couple years people are finding it is still a gas guzzling SUV.
My husband and I have seen trouble brewing in automotive for the past 5-6 years. He's a creature of habit, I would have gotten out of the field while I could...but that's a whole other story.
It has been obvious in the discussions that he has told me about his through his employer that many did not want to sink a lot of money into technology and fuel system alternatives. They thought this was a fad that would blow by and society would stick with the (cheaper production) gas systems.
As you can tell, I am very bitter toward the industry and this mess that I feel they have gotten themselves in. A company does not go bankrupt in 30 days. 3 major companies all sinking at the same time? Coincidental to me.
Personally I hate to see it could potentially impact our life greatly if my husband loses his job but my overwhelming opinion is that these companies have been bad for a while and maybe 1 or 2 need to fade away to give the remaining strength to survive.
