Alaska funded Palin kids' travel...lot of travel.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081021/ap_on_el_pr/palin_family_travel
Gov. Sarah Palin charged the state for her children to travel with her, including to events where they were not invited, and later amended expense reports to specify that they were on official business.
The charges included costs for hotel and commercial flights for three daughters to join Palin to watch their father in a snowmobile race, and a trip to New York, where the governor attended a five-hour conference and stayed with 17-year-old Bristol for five days and four nights in a luxury hotel.
The 21-grand figure does not include the hotel expense, either. Poor, beleaguered can't cath-a-break Sarah may owe back taxes on her per diem expenses, Troopergate, wardrobe malfunctions and now this. Is is just me, or is there a pattern of widening gaps between the hockey mom and the privileged, dare I say elite, power-abusing, fibbing governor persona?
We care because it's Alaska taxpayer money for her kids to travel, even though uninvited nm
what a joke palin is... she's had it now

"Fooling people was the key to the job" according to one worker.
He was paid, the firm wasn't. SM
Either way, he could have said no and he didn't. Mind you, I have a limitation on what I think gay rights should extend to, but I won't go into that here because I will get slaughtered.
She did loan her campaign 10 million dollars - she owes over 20 million - but...
Hillary says she is not worried about paying herself off, just the other people she owes money to (but I bet she will get her money back somehow). I just read where Barack personally wrote her a check himself for $2300 (the most by law any individual can contribute to a campaign).
The problem is her donors expect him to help her pay this money off if he wants them to continue to support his campaign financially, and he needs their money to finance the general election campaign. Also, they say Hillary can devote more time campaigning and helping his financial situation if she is not having to try to raise money still for her debts.
So anyway, there it is in a nutshell...
time travel
Kaydie, when you say, ''So how can you go back and create something that never was,'' I begin to despair, because if my ALL-CAPS typing and references to time travel (which is, you see, at this point not possible) didn't indicate irony, I'm not sure how else to do it.
As for Annenberg, you're absolutely right. I should never believe anything funded from a foundation RUN BY A BILLIONAIRE MCCAIN SUPPORTER (Leonore Annenberg). Oh, wait did I get that right? Let me try again: I should never believe anything funded from a foundation FOUNDED BY NIXON'S AMBASSADOR TO THE UK AND RUN BY REAGAN'S CHIEF OF PROTOCOL. Wait...how could that be? If Factcheck.org is just another Obama propaganda site....
OH MY GOD. HIS DISCIPLES FLEW BACK IN TIME AND SECRETLY REPLACED THE ANNENBERGS WITH PRO-OBAMA DRONES, SO THAT THEY COULD USE THEIR REPUBLICAN CONNECTIONS TO PUSH OBAMA INTO POWER!
IS ANY BILLIONAIRE SAFE??!?!
Executive travel
Executives who travel for business on private jets may actually be doing something line buy or sell a product, bring in revenue, broker a deal that will create jobs.
Politicians traveling that way are mostly being seen. Example: Was it truly necessary for O to fly to the Southwest just to sign a bill and stand in front of some solar panels? He doesn't have pens in the oval office? Does Pelosi really rate a government plane to get her back and forth to California? Not sure if she actually got the privilege, but know she requested it because she is sooooo important to the nation, being assistant president and all, that she has to travel efficiently.
Before you jump all over me with 'Bush did....' yes, I know, they ALL get face time this way. That was then, this is now. If we're supposed to be going 'green' how about cutting out politicians' needless self-promoting travel on our dime?
Post was about travel expenses not clothes

Meixco has released a travel alert.
College campuses here are posting warnings on their websites, warning students that the violence has gotten very bad and they may be targeted or even killed. From a friend who works down there regularly, it is that bad and he says it is only a matter of time before something extremely violent happens to tourists. He hears it in the streets and he watches his back constantly. Mexican drug lords are gearing up to use these tourists for ransom......
I think it was a total of $265 over 4 or 5 donations -

A website was set up for her asking for donations....

Obama's campaign called McCain's campaign.
This was reported an hour or two before McCain had his little news conference. Shouldn't take to heart too much of what McCain says as he is a known liar.
And exactly what credentials did the Thomason's have to run the travel office under Clinton?
Besides cronyism that is?
Maybe.....sounds like Muslim donations which

Buying her clothes IS from donations.....

O camp donations not unlawful.
Current campaign finance laws do not require records to be kept on donations less than $200. If records are not required and hence, not kept, then they cannot be produced.
Both campaigns have solicited on-line contributions, some of which have questionable sources in the sense that they are not properly identified or identifiable, including McC contributions documentation that does not reflect geographic origins.
As a matter of fact, O camp donations ARE in compliance with FEC (as are McC's), so no investigation is "warranted." Furthermore, O camp has returned contributions they deem coming from "suspicious" sources.
In terms of the Nigerian donations, no one can stop ATTEMPTS by foreign nationals to contribute to candidates they support. It is not an issue unless they are actually ACCEPTED.

Hamas information?
McCain wasn't desperate and wasn't behind in the polls
In fact, they have been neck and and neck, and McCain has been gaining in the polls while Obama has been slipping. McCain could have taken the easy way and kept the stable course and picked safer, sure. Instead, he picked a maverick leader like himself, who isn't afraid to get in there and make changes even if it goes against their own party. I believe he wanted to say that the Republicans are the party for change, and wanted to make a bold statement. I've seen statements at "other sites" as well where people are absolutely joyous at this pick.
What about the thousands of men and women
who lost their lives in that "mistake" that Bush made. Maybe that should be in that post too. I bet their families feel like they had plenty of courage.
There were thousands of voters........ sm
who voted in this election who were not informed or educated on the issues or the candidates. I don't see much of a difference, do you?
tens of thousands dead
and tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi's and 1,744+ brave American soldiers are dead. So..lets see here..Saddam was responsible for killing thousands and Bush is responsible for killing tens of thousands.hmmm..hey, are Bush and Saddam brothers separated at birth..two fools with a thirst for blood? Seems like they are both war criminals. Saddam thumbs his nose at the world community and does what he wants..Bush thumbs his nose at the world community, the International Court of Justice and Geneva Convention and does what he wants..hmmm..they gotta be brothers, well, at least blood brothers.
seems to me thousands spoke this weekend
Seems to me most of the country takes Cindy Sheehan seriously and are behind her 100%. This weekends protests in DC, CA, NY, Ohio and other states prove it..When you look at the anti war protests compared to the pro war protests, tells you what the majority of the country wants..ending of the Iraq war.
The ten's of thousands not covered by media
Perhaps that's why they declared open season on reporters who tried to get the truth out, especially about the heavy-handed police gestapo tactics, all too common in a post 9/11 Patriot Act world (where misdemeanors are ratcheted up to charges of terrorism), riddled with politics of fear and being promoted inside the convention hall.
unless you are talking thousands of friends,
I don't think your sample is statistically significant. Obama has led in the polls except for one week for the entire season. Once the Palin myth was unmasked, Obama bounced right back up. Never in the history of the any country anywhere has someone sustained such a lengthy lead and then went on to lose (if you don't count the last election's fraud).
No doubt there will be thousands more excuses

What about the thousands that died in WWII to
keep us free from the nazi regime/communism? What about the Korean War? They died, too, to keep communism from spreading.
Viet Nam was another story. They died and people here were so outspoken about it (just like it is happening now), and that it brought the moral of the tropps down. When our president pulled them out so quick, all he-- broke out. The Viet Cong and Cambodia armies slaughtered thousands.
Those fighting now mostly support and believe in what they are doing. If the troops are pulled out as quick as O wants, the same thing may happen there. This is why they are trying to get Iraq's military and police set up so another Viet Nam will not happen. Support our troops.

taxpayer dollars?
what makes you think that everyone having an abortion is paying for it themselves?
I agree that our tax dollars should be used to pay for it...
it is not a law passed by our congress (and our Constitution says only Congresses have the right to pass laws), it was foisted on us (like everyone here says we are "foisting" our opinions on them) by activist judges and is unconstitutional....those of us opposed to it should not have our tax dollars funding it. Yep, I agree with that!
How does this relate to $27 mil US tax dollars
This week's topic will be Palins pastor, not Rev Wright/Obama. You already had your best shot at this, which just a few posts ago, you said didn't matter (pastors, candidates, etc). Remember to stay on task. Spotlight on the republicans week, just what you all have been waiting for.
I have $32 dollars in savings
and a $52,000 dollar house that me and DH have only been paying on for two years as our "investment". (We bought it because the mortgage payments were as much as our rent payments so mine as well at least own it right?)
What I don't understand, if I started a business and it went under, would they bail me out?
No, probably not. *sigh*
GOOD! Now those tax dollars can be......... sm
used where there are supposed to be used....here in the good ol' USA. And people wonder why our economy is in such bad shape!
Yes, and we need those dollars staying here too!

The book of Revelations was written thousands of years ago.
Why do you think it pertains in any way to our time and not to the time in which it was written? Why do people think it is some sort of prophecy for their particular lifetime? Does no one study the history of the bible anymore? I am so saddened and appalled by the lack of theological and historical education in churches. If people don't even understand the documents of their own faiths, then there is never any hope for understand people of another faith.
tax dollars go to many things we dont want
There are many many people who do not believe in war and especially the war in Iraq yet our tax dollars are being spent to kill innocent people in other countries..So, if you dont want to spend your tax dollars on stem cell research..fine, then let the anti war peoples tax dollars go to things other than war. I would much rather my taxes go to finding ways to cure disease and ease suffering and pain in life than war.

I agree. I think those federal dollars could be used...
for other things. It is not like the news is not out there. Kids know more today at 10 or 11 than I knew at 15 or 16. It is discussed on TV ad nauseam, all of the shows aimed at kids have discussed every aspect of sex you can imagine including STDs, AIDS, homosexuality, abortion, keeping a child rather than aborting, birth control, the whole 9 yards. And I figure most parents have had "the talk" with kids. The culture has been created that sex is an expression, it is no longer saved for marriage, multiple partners don't matter and you don't even have to like each other...that is the culture that has been created. No amount of birth control programs, sex ed programs, is going to put that horse back in the barn. We reap what we sow.
So why spend even more federal dollars on this? It makes no sense to me. You do the best you can to talk to your kids and explain the consequences of choices...but in the end, you cannot force them not to engage in premarital sex. It is ultimately their choice, and federally funded programs at this stage in our culture...waste of money in my view, because it is only repeating what is already out there.
Just my two cents.
Dollars you have in your pocket won't be worth anything.....
As value decreases now, world is found on shaky ground, too, so my thought is that they are probably going to come up with a currency that will be used by all countries involved (from research I've done) and the dollars you have in your bank account, savings account (?) and pocket won't be worth a red minted cent!
Thousands show up to protest at UN today urging end to war Iraq.
Reuters: By Gertrude Chavez-Dreyfuss
NEW YORK, Sept 19 (Reuters) - Thousands of protesters including former American soldiers rallied outside U.N. headquarters on Tuesday, urging the U.S. government to end the war in Iraq and bring home the troops.
Nearby, about 200 other protesters demonstrated against the presence of the Iranian president, others called for human rights in Myanmar, and just a handful demonstrated to press claims the United States orchestrated the Sept. 11 attacks.
While world leaders gathered at the U.N. General Assembly inside, about 2,000 anti-Iraq war protesters chanted Peace can work, no more war half an hour before U.S. President George W. Bush spoke.
This war has drained the economy and has cost a lot of lives, said Claire Thompson, a nurse and union leader. We're calling on our leaders to end this unsustainable war and just bring the troops back home.
There have been 2,681 U.S. military deaths since the Iraq war began in March 2003, according to Pentagon figures, and 147,000 U.S. troops are serving there. At least tens of thousands of Iraqis also have died in the war.
People in Iraq also want to end the war. We want our country back, said Raed Jarrar, an Iraqi-American who moved to the United States last year.
Iranian-Americans rallied outside the U.N. headquarters, protesting the presence of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the General Assembly.
I am outraged by the presence of Iran at the U.N. general assembly. I think Ahmadinejad's actions and statements are pushing Iran to war, said Shirin Narunan, a leader of the Ad Hoc Committee to Stop Iran's Nuclear Weapons.
Iran, saying its nuclear program is for civilian purposes, has declined to suspend its uranium enrichment program despite U.N. Security Council demands to do so.
Burmese pro-democracy activists demanded the dissolution of the country's pro-junta organization, the Union Solidarity and Development Association, and the release of opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi who has been in prison since 1990.
A group of protesters claimed that the U.S. government orchestrated the attacks on Sept. 11. Les Jamison, an event coordinator of NY 911 Truth, said the 9/11 tragedy was scripted by the U.S. government to regain military might.
So the thousands getting laid off weekly are to blame for losing their homes???? nm

It took spending 1-1/2 BILLION dollars a month...sm
over years on the war in Iraq to get us to this point, borrowing from other countries, the highest deficit ever, printing money by the government with no gold behind it to drive the value of our dollar down around the world. Nothing to do with the democrats. When Bush became president we had a huge surplus. Did you forget that?
So, the 2 million dollars went back to Alaska.
