There is unfortunately a vast difference in elementary school and high school. I have to wonder what is going on with that. My best friend's husband is a teacher in the local high school. He says there is a huge problem in the high school with things just as you describe. Recently he said he was in a position to single handedly break up a fight and for the first time in his teaching career (he'll be 65 soon) he was actually afraid for his physical well-being. There are many illegals in this school district but the elementary kids were all Caucasian. I'm not playing any race card but it seems the Hispanics are in Jr. high and high school. Apparently there are also gangs and this plays a big part. On-the-other hand last year two Caucasian boys burned up a teacher's car in the parking lot in broad daylight because the teacher had sent one of them to the principal's office, I forget what it was about. One of the boys was sentenced to some prison time.
There are so many problems in this country. I think it starts out okay with little kids but something goes haywire.
We do everything we can to support our local schools. One thing we truly believe is the future of this country will be in the hands of our kids and whatever we can do to try to make it better, we will do. We are "retard" and thus have plenty of time. LOL
