if you have enough time on your hands.  Here is an article asking if President Bush is the anti-Christ.  People will believe what they want to.

The anti-christ??
Please-with all the damage done by Bush, and Obama is the anti-christ to you?? He is a Christian man with a lovely, loving family, strong values, and wants what is best for America. And he hasn't even been sworn in yet? What is with you folks that see it necessary to act like Obama is the devil incarnate! I have prayed for my country, the my prayers have been answered. He takes office in January.
Anti-Semitism versus Anti-Zionism

I wanted to address an exchange below that occurred between myself and a couple of others on the board (just the big bad and another poster who did not use anything to identify herself) last night.  In response to my post about the righteous prevailing meaning the Israeli's would prevail because they are the "righteous", just the big bad responded "So was Hitler righteous?"  She was likening the Israeli's treatment of the Palestinians as being akin to Nazi Germany's treatment of the Jews.  I then pointed out her anti-Semitic rhetoric.  To which I was blasted for accusing an anti-Zionist as being an anti-Semitic.

I want to point out to many of you who hold strong opinions regarding the Israel/Palestinian conflict, there is a very fine line between anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism, a line that was very clearly crossed when just the big bag posted her Hitler remark, a line many have crossed in this discussion by likening the Gaza Strip to a concentration camp.  When you say these things you have become an anti-Semitic.  Below is an excerpt from an article written by Ami Isseroff:

If you judge a Jewish state by standards that you apply to no one else; if your neck veins bulge when you denounce Zionists but you've done no more than cluck "well, yes, very bad about Darfur";

if there is nothing Hamas can do that you won't blame 'in the final analysis' on Israelis;

if your sneer at the Zionists doesn't sound a whole lot different from American neoconservative sneers at leftists;

then you should not be surprised if you are criticized, fiercely so, by people who are serious about a just peace between Israelis and Palestinians and who won't let you get away with a self-exonerating formula "I am anti-Zionist, but not anti-Semitic" to prevent scrutiniy.  If you are anti-Zionist and not anti-Semitic, then don't use the categories, allusions, and smug hiss that are all too familiar to any student of prejudice.

I think that sums it up.

No dear, it's anti-Zionist, not anti-Semitic.
Horrific is as horrific does. This long term occupation has spanned 60 years. The Holocaust spanned 12. Thanks to your Zionist government, its historic anmesia and its barbaric practices, the Jewish people have lost their exclusive claim to pain and suffering at the hands of state-sponsored terrorism aimed at the genocidal annihilation of an entire population. Your Holocaust was based on religious affiliation and racial purification. The Palestinian Holocaust is based on the ethnic cleansing of a pathologic nationalism that has been out of control for 6 decades.

You cannot declare yourself in charge of defining any other person's beliefs based on your concepts of anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism. I very painstakingly explained to you where I was coming from with that and how I make the distinction. It is the nationalistic fascist ideals that underpin the Zionist movement, not the Jewish people or their religious affiliation that are the targets of the hatred. In fact, they are also captive to their own Zionist leadership, but to a much lesser degree than the Palestinians.

The Holocaust is the only thing in recent history that can be used by comparison to describe the plight of the Palestinians. In fact, there is no parallel historical context that it can be placed in, other than perhaps the apartheid of South Africa. The most accurate description would be a combination of the two horrors.

Any way you slice it, you are trying to defend the indefensible and will never succeed in gaining any credibility, global tolerance of acceptance (except, of course from the US, who is using your country and your people for their own personal gains...better watch your backs) as long as you are the occupiers and the oppressors.
And anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage
will fix the economy?  I think not.  Besides anyone with half a brain cell knows BOTH of them will raise taxes on all of us.  Forget tax breaks.  How do you think the $700 billion and climbing is going to get paid....from money falling out of the sky?????  Get real.
Anti-choice, anti-welfare,
No hypocrisy there?
Marriage is more than just a label (sm)
The Difference between Gay Marriage and Civil Unions

by Kathy Belge

You hear the politicians saying it all the time. “I support Civil Unions, but not gay marriage.” What exactly does this mean? Some even say they support equal rights for gays and lesbians, but not gay marriage. Is this possible? And why do gays and lesbians want marriage so badly when they can have civil unions?

First of all, What is Marriage? When people marry, they tend to do so for reasons of love and commitment. But marriage is also a legal status, which comes with rights and responsibilities. Marriage establishes a legal kinship between you and your spouse. It is a relationship that is recognized across cultures, countries and religions.

What is a Civil Union? Civil Unions exist in only a handful of places: Vermont, New Jersey and Connecticut. California and Oregon have domestic partnership laws that offer many of the same rights as civil unions.

Vermont civil unions were created in 2000 to provide legal protections to gays and lesbians in relationships in that state because gay marriage is not an option. The protections do not extend beyond the border of Vermont and no federal protections are included with a Civil Union. Civil Unions offer some of the same rights and responsibilities as marriage, but only on a state level.

What about Domestic partnership? Some states and municipalities have domestic partnership registries, but no domestic partnership law is the same. Some, like the recently passed California domestic partnership law comes with many rights and responsibilities. Others, like the one in Washingtonoffer very few benefits to the couple.

What are some of the differences between Civil Unions and Gay Marriage?

Recognition in other states: Even though each state has its own laws around marriage, if someone is married in one state and moves to another, their marriage is legally recognized. For example, Oregon marriage law applies to people 17 and over. In Washington state, the couple must be 18 to wed. However, Washington will recognize the marriage of two 17 year olds from Oregon who move there. This is not the case with Civil Unions. If someone has a Civil Union in Vermont, that union is not recognized in any other state. As a matter of fact, two states, Connecticut and Georgia, have ruled that they do not have to recognize civil unions performed in Vermont, because their states have no such legal category. As gay marriages become legal in other states, this status may change.

Dissolving a Civil Union v. Divorce:

Vermont has no residency requirement for Civil Unions. That means two people from any other state or country can come there and have a civil union ceremony. If the couple breaks up and wishes to dissolve the union, one of them must be a resident of Vermont for one year before the Civil Union can be dissolved in family court. Married couples can divorce in any state they reside, no matter where they were married.

Immigration:

A United States citizen who is married can sponsor his or her non-American spouse for immigration into this country. Those with Civil Unions have no such privilege.

Taxes:

Civil Unions are not recognized by the federal government, so couples would not be able to file joint-tax returns or be eligible for tax breaks or protections the government affords to married couples.

Benefits:

The General Accounting Office in 1997 released a list of 1,049 benefits and protections available to heterosexual married couples. These benefits range from federal benefits, such as survivor benefits through Social Security, sick leave to care for ailing partner, tax breaks, veterans benefits and insurance breaks. They also include things like family discounts, obtaining family insurance through your employer, visiting your spouse in the hospital and making medical decisions if your partner is unable to. Civil Unions protect some of these rights, but not all of them.

But can’t a lawyer set all this up for gay and lesbian couples?

No. A lawyer can set up some things like durable power of attorney, wills and medical power of attorney. There are several problems with this, however.

1. It costs thousands of dollars in legal fees. A simple marriage license, which usually costs under $100 would cover all the same rights and benefits.

2. Any of these can be challenged in court. As a matter of fact, more wills are challenged than not. In the case of wills, legal spouses always have more legal power than any other family member.

3. Marriage laws are universal. If someone’s husband or wife is injured in an accident, all you need to do is show up and say you’re his or her spouse. You will not be questioned. If you show up at the hospital with your legal paperwork, the employees may not know what to do with you. If you simply say, "He's my husband," you will immediately be taken to your spouse's side.

JTBB. you have the nerve to say OTHERS label?

There, I labeled you.  You deserve it.

Robertson suggests God smote Sharon

Evangelist links Israeli leader's stroke to 'dividing God's land'

(CNN) -- Television evangelist Pat Robertson suggested Thursday that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine retribution for the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, which Robertson opposed.

He was dividing God's land, and I would say, 'Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the [European Union], the United Nations or the United States of America,' Robertson told viewers of his long-running television show, The 700 Club.

God says, 'This land belongs to me, and you'd better leave it alone,' he said.

Robertson's show airs on the ABC Family cable network and claims about 1 million viewers daily.

Sharon, 77, clung to life in a Jerusalem hospital Thursday after surgery to treat a severe stroke, his doctors said.

The prime minister, who withdrew Israeli settlers and troops from Gaza and parts of the West Bank last summer over heated objections from his own Likud Party, was breathing with the aid of a ventilator after doctors operated to stop the bleeding in his brain.

In Washington, President Bush offered praise for Sharon in a speech on Thursday.

We pray for his recovery, Bush said. He's a good man, a strong man. A man who cared deeply about the security of the Israeli people, and a man who had a vision for peace. May God bless him.

Daniel Ayalon, Israel's ambassador to the United States, compared Robertson's remarks to the overheated rhetoric of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. (Full story)

He called the comments outrageous and said they were not something to expect from any of our friends.

He is a great friend of Israel and a great friend of Prime Minister Sharon himself, so I am very surprised, Ayalon told CNN.

Robertson, 75, founded the Christian Coalition and in 1988 failed in a bid for the Republican presidential nomination. He last stirred controversy in August, when he called for the assassination of Venezuela's president, Hugo Chavez. (Full story)

Robertson later apologized, but still compared Chavez to Hitler and former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein in the process.

The same month, the Anti-Defamation League criticized Robertson for warning that God would bring judgment against Israel for its withdrawal from Gaza, which it had occupied since the 1967 Mideast war.

Robertson said Thursday that Sharon was a very likable person, and I am sad to see him in this condition.

He linked Sharon's health problems to the 1995 assassination of Israeli leader Yitzhak Rabin, who signed the Oslo peace accords that granted limited self-rule to Palestinians.

It was a terrible thing that happened, but nevertheless, now he's dead, Robertson said.

Rabin was gunned down by a religious student opposed to the Oslo accords. The killer, Yigal Amir, admitted to the crime and was sentenced to life in prison.

Rev. Barry Lynn, executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, criticized Robertson's comments Thursday, saying the televangelist has a political agenda for the entire world.

He seems to think God is ready to take out any world leader who stands in the way of that agenda, Lynn said in a written statement.

A religious leader should not be making callous political points while a man is struggling for his life, he said. I'm appalled.

Ralph Neas, president of liberal advocacy group People for the American Way, said it is astonishing that Pat Robertson still wields substantial influence in the Republican Party.

Once again, Pat Robertson leaves us speechless with his insensitivity and arrogance, Neas said in a written statement.

According to The Associated Press, Robertson spokeswoman Angell Watts said of people who criticized the comments: What they're basically saying is, 'How dare Pat Robertson quote the Bible?'

This is what the word of God says, Watts told the AP. This is nothing new to the Christian community.

Anti-gay/anti-abortion

I'm someone who believes in minding my own business.  What others do in their family lives is none of my business.  There hasn't been one single (or married) gay person who has ever hurt me.

On the other hand, the policies of the last eight years have hurt me a great deal.  I don't have health insurance, so McCain can't tax mine, but he will tax everyone else's.

I want a President who can speak English (for a change), one who is intelligent and even tempered, and one who not only acknowledges that there is a huge problem with the middle class but whose entire platform has been devoted to solving that problem.

One day, McCain says the "fundamentals of the economy are strong."  The next day, he's canceling a debate to rush back to Washington to fix the "crisis," except that he doesn't really "rush," and he didn't cancel the debate.  He's running around like a chicken with its head cut off.

Obama's slogan has always been change, from the very beginning, and McCain has stolen that slogan.

I'm just personally sick and tired of politicians who are pro-corporations and anti-Americans.

Corporate tax breaks simply don't work.  The beneficiaries of these breaks pocket the money.  They don't create jobs; they outsource them.  As MTs, we should know that more than anyone.

Obama wants to reward businesses who KEEP jobs in America.  That's why I voted for him, along with the other reasons above, and that's why my daughter and son-in-law also voted for him, so he has received three votes from this household alone.

The "trickle-down" theory doesn't work and depends on the non-existent benevolence of greedy executives.  It's time to try the "trickle-up" theory, IMHO.

Everyone is so upset at the thought of rising taxes.  I wish someone would tell me just HOW we expect to pay for all Bush's wars, as this will fall to the next President, along with the present financial fiasco.

Yes, I think Christ himself
a great deal of their **holier than thou** hate-speech caca. After all, he was the very essence of love and forgiveness, knew the hypocrites all too well and said, *Judge not lest ye be judged* Funny how His own words somehow are forgotten, huh? What about the hypocrisy of taking from the poor to give to the wealthy? Was Christ as a humble, poor person himself not a champion of the poor? I sure don't remember a that he said *Blessed are the warmongers*
Obviously you don't know much about Christ
He did speak out against wrong doing and sometimes LOUDLY and with force. Don't forget the moneychangers' tables. Maybe you don't know what that was about but that was a HUGE thing in Jesus' time and doing so took great courage. Are you saying he hated because he disapproved of what they were doing? He never said let wrongdoing continue. I guess you would call him judgemental, huh? He said love those, regardless, not take part and go along with them and their beliefs.

The very fact that you use Christian and "hate" in your responses over and over tells of your true feelings.
Anyone bombing anything in the name of Christ
needs to rethink who they say they are "in the name of". I do not believe a true Christian would harm anyone to prove a point or say that it was in the name of Christ. These people have their ideas twisted. We are to hate the SIN of abortion, not the abortionist. God will deal with them in His own time, it is not for us to do.

Remember, God doesn't NEED us to do anything.

Christ as in Christian
tells us this behavior is "abominable." Dysfunctional and disgusting is in the same category. Saying something is disgusting or bad or wrong is not judging. It's stating a fact. Tell me how to love my fellow man who insists on being labeled as a sinful behavior that I'm required to hate. Hate the sin, love the sinner doesn't fly in the homosexual community. Can we hate murder but love the murderer? Can we hate stealing but love the thief? Tell us all how to do that when it's hard to separate the two, especially if someone wants to be labeled as a particular sin. Impossible, I say.
Christ himself preached against sin sm
but loved the sinner. A PERSON is not labeled as a particular sin, they have committed a particular sin, big difference.

May be hard to separate the two, but it is what Christ commanded. If you take on the name of a Christian you are commanded to be Christ like. We are human and we fail, but if you consistently have this attitude, it makes me wonder if Christ is just in your head or really in your heart.
Those of us who take Jesus Christ as our saviour.
.
PLEASE take Jesus Christ as your Savior >>>
Take him the hell out of everyones politics, you narrow-minded ignoramus.
That was lame.............Christ on a cracker!
x
Why are "Christians" so judgmental when Christ wasn't that way
shame on you gay haters
Christian does mean to follow Christ Jesus. SM

You know, Jesus, the son of God, God in human flesh?  Jesus, who answered Pilate "you say rightly I am king," Jesus, who answered the high priest when asked if he was the Christ "Yes, it is as you say."  If anyone knew what Father God was thinking, it was Jesus Christ, God in human flesh.

Sheesh, at least try to know what your talking about with your retorts.

If we as Christians believe we have the truth, and that following Christ is the true way......sm
why are so many Christians so insecure? Why so paranoid? Don't you think Jesus will take care of it all? Where does it say that "we" have to be "dominant", Christianity is a lifetime philosphy, a way of life, a calling for the soul, why do you think we must be the most populous in the country? When Christianity started out it was a tiny, obscure "and left wing" type of religion, even labeled an insane cult, but it cretainly thrived, even with rabid Roman prosecution....God even put His seat on earth, supposedly, in Rome, is that no irony, and does it not show the might of the Lord? Perhaps the percentages will change in the future between the major religions, but in the end, belief of a higher power, belief in goodness, honesty, truth, kindness, charity, love, equity, righteousness, morals....all fo that was not "copywrited" from the Christians. Jesus, his family, his followers were all Jews, Jesus NEVER renounced Judaism, just the hypocritcal sects that had grown up in the temples, and the apostes saw Christianity as an addition of rules and precepts from the Master IN ADDITION to their Jewish heritage.....If we are strong in our faith, we should not worry about what percent of population is Christian.
I personally dont see O as the "anti-Christ",but
nm
Two more and I'm done! Q. What's the difference between Jesus Christ and Barack Obama?

A. Jesus could assemble a cabinet.

Q: How many Obamunists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: None.  It's enough to hope that it gets changed.

I'm waiting to be called a racist.  I'm sure somewhere in that those jokes, some Obamunist will find racism.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would ever endeavor to speak for Christ. Nuff said. nm
.
True Christians strive to be Christ-like, loving, tolerant...sm
nonjudgemental, understanding, washing the feet of the lowliest citizen, feeding the hungry, living life without always saying me, me, me. I could think of a lot of adjectives that would describe what being a Christian means to me but I am seeing none of that here from people whose greatest claim is that they are devout Christians. I hear only fear, lies, hate, biogotry and defensiveness instead of love, truth, hope and light in Jesus name.
I came across this scripture today when I was studying. These are the words of Jesus Christ

from the book of Matthew Chapter 10 Verse 28:

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in he!!.

What was it that Oprah called Obama again?  The One?

Be easy...see ya!
x
That was easy!

You said:

America is becoming a very scary place indeed.  I believe, as you do, that there are people who are eagerly awaiting the *Rapture* and indeed believe they have the *inside track* to heaven.  Unfortunately, it look as if this country might actually suffer from their self-fulfilled prophecy if it continues going backwards in time under Bush's completely inept leadership.

I wish it was that easy
Problem here is I don't know what to give up that would make a difference. Only 2 of us, we both work at home, so only drive to grocery store on weekend, or an errand here and there. We spend maybe $10 a month in gas, however, close to $200 a week on food (sometimes more). We have been cutting back on meat. Not so much because of cost but more because of constantly getting home and its bad. I'd love to get my food bill down but it is so hard and I don't know how without starving ourselves.
It's not easy
I can usually find socks and underwear made in the US, some jeans, sheets and tools, but when it comes to buying toys, there isn't much. (I think Slinky is still made in the US.)

But I read labels and check the descriptions when I buy on line and I try to buy American when I can. Same with cars; we're a big GM family.

Take it easy
May we please discuss matters w/o using angry, foul language?  Because this leads us to nowhere. Thanks.
Won't go there. Too easy. :-) nm
nm
Easy....sm
My gut feeling is that every promise and idea and plans for our future that has ever come out of Barack Obama's mouth is a lie, or else it's couched in such a way that he will be able to twist it later. It's all socialism, being called by other names. (Most recent point being, his 250,000 tax the rich, which is now down to 120,000). I can never, ever, believe anything that he says. Slick Barry does not inspire trust in me at all.

McCain, well, honestly, only about half of his stuff do I disagree with. Sure, he probably has told some whoppers, but they don't kick me in the gut and make me gasp for air, the way the other one does.

So I'm voting for McCain. It's a matter of trust. I trust and truly believe he is the better choice, and will be better for America, in the short and long term.

There you go. That could not have come easy for you.
x
it's easy to say that
you wouldn't mind paying a higher percentage if you don't have to do it. you may well be singing a different tune if you actually had to pay it. I am not making light of your situation. I am simply saying the percentage should be even. just to make it easy - if you make $250,000 and pay 25% in taxes that comes out to paying 62,500. It you earn 50,000 and pay that 25% in taxes you pay $12,500. don't you think the 62,500 is already enough; why should they pay more. I don't understand. But if I was earning the 250,000 and paying that much in taxed, I should wouldn't want someone telling me I should pay more because I actually did well for myself.
That's easy....(sm)

If you don't want your kids looking at porn on the internet, teach them not to do it.  Provide your kid with internet access and put a block on that computer.  If they are visiting a library during class hours and are looking at porn on the internet, I would say they have some behavioral problems anyway, and porn is about the last thing you need to worry about in that case.

You guys scream smaller government, but then you want the govt to raise your kids.

Very easy to tell you're no conservative

or else you'd have mastered the art of "twisting" and wouldn't have such high regard for the truth.

Lesson 1:  Visit the Conservative Board and study closely.

(Lesson 2 will follow as soon as you have successfully completed Lesson 1.)

This is an easy one. Impeach!!
.
This one's too easy. Just made my day.

Title of you post is lifted straight out of TT112OldTimer's post responding to Free Speech Rocks.  When spinning soooo out of control that the brain becomes blank, you can always resort to plagiary.  Hello.  Are you listening?  Vitriol out, vitriol in.  You might be shocked by how much respect you earn with just the simple gesture of extending some.  Respect is NOT a 4-letter word.

Common sense is exactly what I used when I decided to attack my own bigoted tendencies back when I was still a teenager.  I did not learn any of that from books or courses I took in school.  I took it to the streets and reaped benefits beyond measure from those lessons.

Au contraire.  The bluster of bigots is easy to bury under fact and logic.  No need to be thwarted by that.  Their reservoir of insults runs very shallow, but the intellect is a well that one can dig as deep as is necessary.  Fact/truth is another arch-enemy of the bigot.  You at least had the wisdom not to attempt to ridicule the context post since you knew you would be in way over your head and besides, you are allergic to the other side of the coin.  As they say, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.   It can’t be much fun to find yourself dumbfounded by your own narrow mind.  Frustrating too...remember it well.

On the shortcut post:  That was your snipe, not mine.  Snipe begets tripe.  Vtriol out/vitriol in.  Garbage out/garbage in.  Is there an echo in here?

Not the slightest bit interested in agreement, validation or vindication.  I am secure enough by now not to need all of that.  But in political contexts, the journey down the road to consensus will never begin in the absence of flexibility, open-mindedness and a good dose of patience.

What part of my posts reflect your tactics do you not understand?  You absolutely refuse to look at yourself in the mirror, but you do know enough to be outranged when someone sends you your own reflection.  It’s not a pretty sight and furthermore, you become every bit as enraged as you seem to think I am.  You are constitutionally incapable of seeing what a spiteful little vixen you become when your brick-wall logic is thrown back in you face.

No surprise there.  Bigotry is always blind.  Here’s another example you are bound to ignore:  You are so driven by your hatred of illegals that you would actually weigh in on the side of transnationals and cast your vote for the party who empowers them to outsource your profession overseas and drive your own wages into the ground.

Well shut my mouth!  Could it be that you have finally run out of insults in the face of the realities of logic and have arrived on the threshold of the next level where most other right-wingers eventually find themselves...running for the hills and back into the open arms of the choir members?  You are big on cliché.  Here’s one for you...you can run, but you can’t hide.  Have a safe journey and I am “sending up a prayer” that you find the sanctuary you seek.

Easy on the eyes?
Are you kidding me?
It was me and, yep , I said it. Easy on the eyes!
nm
Come on, you made that way too easy! nm
nm
That's easy. Because he is the best candidate
x
Easy, cuz it's true. sm
He's got you right where he wants you.

The truly uninformed are voting for the O.

The rest of us will try to counter that, though, and drag McCain over the finish line if we have to.

Anything is better than O and a democratic congress in power.
Naw, I'm not easy to offend s/m
I did change my mind though, if I have to eat that crow, could I have BBQ sauce instead of just plain ole salt and pepper???  LOL
It didn't come easy, but what are you going to do
I still really feel Obama is the wrong person for the job. There were just too many thing wrong and suspicious of this O guy. First everyone has to verify they are eligible by providing their bc except him. Then everyone is required to submit their medical records except him. In all truth I feel he bought his way in. There is just too much that is not sitting right with me about him. And I'm going to keep my eye on him. When I hear of something wrong you can bet your bippy I'm going to post.

In all honesty I hope he does well for the people, but I know from past experience (B. Clinton) they always break their promises with lame excuses. When my taxes go up you bet I'll be on this board screaming and shouting. Too much serious stuff going on in the world and I don't trust him. He has lied to us throughtout the campaign and I'm not real thrilled with people running around thinking (and actually believing) he is the messiah, and the latest I read was people said he is Moses.

So I just will say a prayer for the country tonight we're going to need all the prayers we get.

But he won and he deserves a congratulations. It was a long race. And at the same time can we please stop bashing McCain and Palin. They did the best they could and McCain gave a sincere and gracious speech with good words about Obama.
Rest easy
she'll probably have you posthumously converted and you will be okey-dokey in the hereafter.  Thanks a boatload, Sis!
Easy to see just from the crashers on this board.

Unfortunately there are people who still believe the lies of Bush, even now that he's finally said something honest:  That there were NO WMDs and that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.

Sorry, you just make it 'way too EASY.
.
You'll be surprised how easy it is
I cooked a Crown Roast of Pork in the D.O. once.  A pineapple upside down cake is a very easy dessert to start with.  I won 1st place with it the first time I entered a contest.  I also make a killer Pecan Cobbler.  Just got it perfected for the D.O. and will cook it in the next contest we enter.  It's easy too.  I made one for the bean supper fund raiser last Saturday just to see what people would think about it and based on the way people came back for seconds I'd say I've got a possible winner.  With the holidays coming up if you would like the recipe...well, I love to share my recipes.
and it is way too easy to irritate the dems
