I SOOOO SECOND THAT MOTION!
--
OBAMA has already put in motion AND END TO BUSH'S WAR CRIMES sm
Bush committed war crimes and Obama on day one of his presidency has already put in place measures to stop the crimes. Be proud because these are issues that affect human rights for all of us.
Read up, do your research, see what Amnesty International says... be PROUD now instead of ashamed to be an American! We are on the road to recovery, albeit a long road but at least Obama has us on track.
must be a slow day in conservativeville
I think you are talking about yourself or your children..not me..conservative board must be slow today..git fool, git..go back to your hypocritical friends..
I read r-e-a-l slow
and I saw two words spelled incorrectly in your post.
I read real slow.
I checked 47 websites regarding Snopes reliability. Excluding those websites with an obvious agenda, I have come to the conclusion that Snopes is reliable.

Thanks ever so much. :)
I want to see him impeached for the slow response in Katrina...sm
I think that alone is enough. Him and Blanco, and their coherts, they've got to go!!!
Hope he doesn't slow down anytime soon...

As far as the way he debates, I like to think that he kind of stammers and stutters sometimes to buy himself time to really think about what he is going to say, as obviously saying one wrong thing can damage an entire campaign.  I personally wish he would spit things out a bit faster, but in the end I can always see what he is trying to get at.  Of course, he is my favorite candidate and I know where he stands on most issues anyway (I go to his website a lot), so that probably makes me more accepting of his style, I guess.

I hope he does not slow down, and I have a very good feeling that he won't.  I think he is bringing out record numbers of young people out to vote, and I think that has been and will continue to be a huge part of his success.  He does inspire people in general, and he obviously inspires them to vote! I've seen so many people comment on his MySpace page that they have never voted before but went and registered just so they could vote for him.

Obama has integrity, and I think many of us get the sense that he cannot be bought and will not work for big business but rather for the American people, and that is one of the things I like most about him.  I guess I trust that he doesn't want the job for the paycheck but that he really wants to improve this country and the world in general.  I'm sooooo sick of politicians voting according to what drug company is paying them the most money, or oil company, insurance company, etc.  It is beyond outrageous at this point!

SP's war on terrorism crash course
Unbelievable that someone who aspires to US VP displays such "kitchen table" understanding of the war on terror. Islamic terrorists do not attack the US because "they don't like" our democracy and freedom. Bin Laden was very clear on his reason for 911 attack/act of war in his letter to the US. Agree or not, in his view and that of his followers, these are his expressed reasons attacking US:
1. You attacked us.
2. You attacked us in Palestine.
3. The occupation of Palestine.
4. America's support of Israel.
5. The creation if Israel is a crime.
6. You believe the Jews have a Biblical right to Palestine.
7. His eye for eye perception of revenge for Palestine.
8. You attacked us in Somalia.
9. You supported Russians in Chechnya.
10. You supported India's aggression in Kashmir.
11. You attack us on a daily basis and war against Sharia law.
12. Governments of our countries act as your agents. They steal the Muslim community's wealth and sell it to you for paltry price. They support Israel.
13. Your military forces occupy our countries. They corrupt ouf lands and pillage our treasures.
14. You kill the children of Iraq.
15. You support the Jews in their efforts to establish capitol in Jerusalem. The would destroy Islam's most sacred Al-Aqsa Mosque.
16. Your oppression is aggressive.
17. You kill civilians and charge them with crimes they did not commit.
18. Your claims that American is the land of freedom are hypocrisy.
19. American people support US policies in Palestine.
20. American people's taxes fund planes that bomb Afghanistan.
21. Americans do not understand the language of manners and principles. They understand war, so we address them in these terms.

What are his demands?
1. We call you to know the meaning of Islam.
2. We call you to stop your oppression.
3. He goes on to list the ways America's government is not in compliance with Islam and with Sharia law.
4. Your law is the law of the rich and wealthy.
5. Your freedoms and democracy are for yourselves only and only for whites.
6. You do not respect international law.
7. You create a court for war criminals and then declare yourselves immune.
8. You torture at Guantanamo.
9. Abandon support for Israel.

It's going to go a further way down, to crash status.

Got it on good authority.

Investors are not fools.  It's only left-wingers who get it to up tick for a day or so, that's all.  The rest of America ain't buying Obama's sudden "positive" attitude.  They know it is a calculated and phony positive.  Fools rush in, you know.  Ain't nothing more foolish than a left-winger Obama worshiper.

1929 crash saw a loss of
The high point for us was last year at 14,164 in October and an 89% loss is 1,558.

It is hard for me to see where shoring up the banks is helping anybody. We are already down almost 50% from this time last year.
Well, Mcsame saw this crash coming and tried to avoid it...
unlike some others. That is one of the reasons I trust him.
No dupa - the shrub caused the crash and burn.......
Memory loss can signify medical issues which need to be attended to. Also, delusions can spell multiple significant issues which need to be addressed ASAP. Go with God.
The whole country would crash and burn. Do you know how many jobs in Michigan alone are auto related
Michigan might as well hang a sign on the door saying last one out, turn out the lights. But then if Obama has his way, we won't have any electricity either because the coal companies will be bankrupted too. Domino effect in my opinion.
McCain has fogotten the stock market crash, mortgage/credit crisis,
unemployment rates, job losses, stagnant wages, rising prices in gas, food, health care, etc, etc, etc.
May be horrible. Unfortunately, it seems to
nm
Oh he is just horrible. I know what you mean.nm
x
OMG...that is horrible!!!

Only 55 and too old for a CABG.  How sad is that?  That must have been horrible for your friend and her family!

Is this what we really want America?  Listen up Kool-Aid drinkers!!!!  Is that what you really want in health care?

Horrible for her family...
and hearing the candidates' (both sides) reactions to it have been interesting. All have the similar thread tho...must preserve democracy in Pakistan.
Didn't see anything horrible
I did some checking on the man and found nothing too bad. A few minor issues with "bad spending" that were cleared up. He does seem to have a very liberal viewpoint, but I certainly would not call him crazy. Seems like he has done a lot for SLC, including landing the Winter Olympics, which brought a ton of money there.

In his private career, seems like he did a lot of work for the poor and several civil rights cases. I guess that would make some conservatives a little afraid of him :-)
yes it's really horrible when someone so much smarter than you
she doesn't bully or monopolize
I also agree. Horrible to think that way.nm
x
you horrible atheist
I have been called lots of really nice things on this board myself!  SO WHAT.  Be a big girl already!
What a horrible idea!
First, why should people who purchased homes that they cannot afford be rewarded by having their mortgages paid off? Second, what about people who were smart enough not to commit themselves to a mortgage they could not afford and are renting? I think it is beyond hypocritical of the conservatives on this board to complain about people wanting to be given something for nothing and then make a complete 180-degree turn when they are the ones on the receiving end. You signed up for the mortgage, you pay it. I am not contributing one penny to your bad judgment!
Isn't it horrible - see message
Right now it's just so bad I'm not blaming anyone for it. It's like being on a ship sinking, your too busy worrying about how to save yourselves you don't care anymore who put the hole in the boat. Think there's plenty of blame to go to everyone, but it's happening all over the world. Every day my husband tells me about riots and stuff going on in other countries. I just wonder if it will ever work its way out. I hear economist saying its going to take about four or five years, so now it's just struggling to survive.
It is such a horrible thing when

the American people disagree with the democrats who want to spend spend and spend more of OUR money.  I guess that makes us a bunch of bumbling idiots, huh?

And you know what's funny....a bunch of these same Americans who don't like Democrats spending OUR money are the same people who didn't like it when the pubs were spending OUR money.

Then you have the ones who didn't mind when the pubs spent the money but hate that the dems are and vice versa.  Double standards....all double standards.  If McCain had won and was spending all this money, you would be spitting nails right now.

It must have been so horrible that O preferred not to
release the memos and the pictures.
And there are also some among them who are not yet proven guilty and are tortured until they admit.
Yes, we are so horrible we are fundraising for Katrina right now.
HORRIBLE PEOPLE WE ARE!
If it truly happend, it's horrible. But neither repub
to control what people do. All they can do is condemn the act. Obviously this was just some punk gangster, and my belief is that if she'd had an Obama sticker on her car, he probably would've carved an M for McCain.
That's horrible. Shame on the republicans
nm
ROFL! That is horrible but funny!

That's absolutely horrible - see message
Yes rape has got to be one of the most vile acts and I can't imagine how I'd feel if it happened to one of my family but what she did was absolutely dreadful. Not saying the guy didn't deserve to be punished, but to stoop so low and do to another human being something so awful, makes me wonder which one is worse.

I don't care how much you hate someone or how much rage you feel. There is never a good reason to commit violence, and of that type. Yes her daughter suffered through a rape, but the thought of what a human being was going through while they are in the process of dying in that fashion is just too much and makes me sad.

I believe that the lady and her daughter should have gone to counceling to work out their frustrations of injustice done to her daughter. If they were going to counceling maybe they should have switched counselors.

I will never think something like what she did is okay to do.

I feel sad for the daughter (rape victim) and the lady's family and also the family members of the rapist to know their relative suffered such a horror.

I hope the lady sits in jail and and gets the counseling she needs and I hope she doesn't get out for a long time.
I understand that is a horrible situation for
it's not my responsibility to pay a mortgage for someone who had no business getting one in the first place. I have to pay my bills and my mortgage; they should never have had a mortgage.

Right with you there, too!! I have horrible environmental allergies!...nm
nm
Horrible signs were stating
x
Yeah, those horrible signs

Who do they think they are, gathering and exercising their first amendment rights like that?  And  all those signs came from republican central planning, didn't they?  Maybe there could have been heavier attendance, but many of the potential supporters actually have jobs.

The MMM was organized by Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam.  It would have been soooooo politically incorrect before, during and after the million man march to characterize all the participants as nuts, sexist racist kooks with a single hateful agenda, trouble makers, disgruntled black men just looking to cause problems.

Yet the reverse is excactly how tea party participants were portrayed, which is okey-dokey with most people.

In the dish it out/take it department, the left has pretty a sweet deal because they can say the most prejudiced, outrageous things about the right and get by with it.  But when the right criticizes the left it is always claimed that we are selfish, racist, sexist, homophobic bigots.  It's not about your race, your gender, or your lifestyle.  It's about socialism versus capitalism, okay?

Yes, America is so horrible that nearly everyone from every country on earth sm
wants to live here.  What does that tell you?
You are so right in your post, but you have to admit that in these horrible times particularly.....s
There are 50 and even 60-year-old workers who are filing unemployment for the first time in their lives, never thought they would, and are humiliated to do so! When there are no jobs to be found, and there is no money coming in, we do owe a hand up to our fellow man. Remember, Jesus said "for as much as you give to the least of my children, you do it unto me." There is welfare abuse, but saying that this is the main cause of our economic collapse or the major social problem is like saying that Jack the Ripper had a bad temper!! Desperate times bring desperate measures, it is good if you and I can to go bed with a full belly and a roof over our heads, but what about those WHO WILL NOT if they do not get help until they get back on their feet? Hey, I know some of those abusers and it gripes me to no end because my husband and I are working every available minute to raise our three planned, beloved kids. But atrocities like the OCTO-MOM and her 14 kids is the freakish, sad deviation from the norm, the bad exception. Do not condemn social awareness and social responsibility to those who truly need and deserve it, and that is more and more folks these days!! (off soap box for now, I think!!)
He invaded a country and committed horrible atrocities there...
we beat him back, should have taken him in the first Gulf war.  But we're always going overboard trying to be nice and where does that get us?  Same place it got us with N. Korea.  Jimmy Carter barters a deal with them for food, and they take the money and use it to build nukes.  Where's the outrage over that?  Sometimes a people just cannot rise up and oust a dictator.  They need help.  And now the time has come for them to quit squabbling amongst themselves and make something out of their country.  Let's not forget how many years it took for Japan and Germany to get on their feet.  We need to give them a little more time.  Heck, this country dissolved into civil war after 100 years.  Time and patience.
Obama is letting them drop charges against terrorists for this horrible sick crime???

What orifice did you pull this out of?

What's even more amusing is watching
your political ideology die a slow painful death.

I didn't post the original article not that you would believe me. As far as the rest of your rant I don't give a flip...and that's putting mildly.
like watching bullies get theirs
I kind of like to watch bullies get theirs and Delay's history for the past 21 years in DC is that of a bully..the *hammer* as his nickname is.  Kind of like karma..what goes around comes around eventually. Same thing with Rove, well known to spread lies and participating in extremely dirty politics..he just might get his now with the leak investigation.
If you think the government isn't watching you...think again.
Pay too much and you could raise the alarm

By BOB KERR
The Providence Journal

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Walter Soehnge is a retired Texas schoolteacher who traveled north with his wife, Deana, saw summer change to fall in Rhode Island and decided this was a place to stay for a while.

So the Soehnges live in Scituate now and Walter sometimes has breakfast at the Gentleman Farmer in Scituate Village, where he has passed the test and become a regular despite an accent that is definitely not local.

And it was there, at his usual table last week, that he told me that he was madder than a panther with kerosene on his tail.

He says things like that. Texas does leave its mark on a man.

What got him so upset might seem trivial to some people who have learned to accept small infringements on their freedom as just part of the way things are in this age of terror-fed paranoia. It's that everything changed after 9/11 thing.

But not Walter.

We're a product of the '60s, he said. We believe government should be way away from us in that regard.

He was referring to the recent decision by him and his wife to be responsible, to do the kind of thing that just about anyone would say makes good, solid financial sense.

They paid down some debt. The balance on their JCPenney Platinum MasterCard had gotten to an unhealthy level. So they sent in a large payment, a check for $6,522.

And an alarm went off. A red flag went up. The Soehnges' behavior was found questionable.

And all they did was pay down their debt. They didn't call a suspected terrorist on their cell phone. They didn't try to sneak a machine gun through customs.

They just paid a hefty chunk of their credit card balance. And they learned how frighteningly wide the net of suspicion has been cast.

After sending in the check, they checked online to see if their account had been duly credited. They learned that the check had arrived, but the amount available for credit on their account hadn't changed.

So Deana Soehnge called the credit-card company. Then Walter called.

When you mess with my money, I want to know why, he said.

They both learned the same astounding piece of information about the little things that can set the threat sensors to beeping and blinking.

They were told, as they moved up the managerial ladder at the call center, that the amount they had sent in was much larger than their normal monthly payment. And if the increase hits a certain percentage higher than that normal payment, Homeland Security has to be notified. And the money doesn't move until the threat alert is lifted.

Walter called television stations, the American Civil Liberties Union and me. And he went on the Internet to see what he could learn. He learned about changes in something called the Bank Privacy Act.

The more I'm on, the scarier it gets, he said. It's scary how easily someone in Homeland Security can get permission to spy.

Eventually, his and his wife's money was freed up. The Soehnges were apparently found not to be promoting global terrorism under the guise of paying a credit-card bill. They never did learn how a large credit card payment can pose a security threat.

But the experience has been a reminder that a small piece of privacy has been surrendered. Walter Soehnge, who says he holds solid, middle-of-the-road American beliefs, worries about rights being lost.

If it can happen to me, it can happen to others, he said.

I think you have been watching too may movies,
they don't have to kill anyone to get those.
Unlike you, I have been watching Fox along with CNN...
so I have seen the good things happening along with the bad. The surge is exactly what scaled down the violence in Baghdad. Anyone with half a brain knows that...unless you think it was miraculously coincidental that the surge and decline in violence happened at the same time. Now who is trying to oversimplify?

You totally disregarding the glaring point here. Knowing Murtha's history, knowing the outlandish and horrifying things he has said over and over about the soldiers and the war, that the words "surge is working" would even pass his lips should be indicative, because it must be a BIG difference between the time he was there before and this time or he would not have said anything. What on earth could he possibly have to gain by lying about it? The main has a military background; he should certainly be able to tell the difference. Yes, I find that encouraging, but I have been watching the news and where we used to hear about a roadside bombing every day we don't anymore. Where we used to hear about car bombs every day we don't anymore, even on CNN, because they can't report them if they aren't happening, even they are not that deviant. Things HAVE changed, whether you want to admit it or not.

The intent of my post was to show that there are some Democrats (even the most left ones as Murtha is) who are having to admit that it is working. To quote you again, anyone with half a brain would see that it is. And if you would watch Fox once in awhile, you would see the troops being interviewed, you would see Iraqis being interviewed, and you would see that there is light at the end of the tunnel. But, of course, you probably think you would go blind if you turned on that channel (or they are doing it with actors on a sound stage in Burbank...LOL).

Again, we agree to disagree. I prefer the optimistic view, you prefer the pessimistic. I believe what I saw this morning with people moving freely again, talking positively about the future again (Iraqis), thanking soldiers for help and protection and inviting them into their homes for meals...to me that is a very positive sign.

By the way, I read another article regarding Murtha and he is still for pulling the troops out immediately, even though the surge is working. But he also admitted that he had visited with the many Pennsylvania-based soldiers there (his constituents) and that they believed in their mission and that they felt the surge was working. Not that you believe a word he says or that I say. I prefer to believe them. They are over there. We are not.
Did anybody think they were watching an episode

was speaking?

Seriously they should make an episode from that.  It would be HILlarious

and you really think by watching the mainstream..
media, MSNC (Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann), Air America and the like YOU are getting the whole picture? Admit it, you just want to hear what agrees with your point of view and nothing else. At least admit the bias.

I do watch CNN, I watch MSNBC until Matthews and Olbermann come on because all you get to hear with those two is what THEY think and they don't even attempt to hide their bias. Laughable really. At least Fox does have a Dem and a Repub at the same time, which is more than I can say for most of the others. And I don't watch Fox exclusively and have heard Limbaugh maybe once or twice, because he is almost as obnoxious as Olbermann sometimes. Can't stand that ego thing on EITHER side. Trouble is...I can see that. Those folks with a Fox and Limbaugh fixation can't see the same problems on the Dem side...namely Matthews and Olbermann. Wonder why that is??
It should be about the people. Watching
the different speakers last night, I was really proud of Barney Smith. Barney said he wanted a candidate that would put "Barney Smith first, not Smith Barney." He brought down the house. It's time for the American people to get the consideration we deserve from our government. The Bush administration owes us an apology. I absolutely refuse to have more of the same. It is time for a President who cares about the people.
come on..have you been watching the news?
to vote for Obama just because Hillary won. This is just one more reason for them to vote for her. Ignorant voters in large numbers are dangerous, just look at what the last 8 years has gotten us...
I have been watching closely, too.
The whole MSNBC crew was out of sorts on the night Barack gave his speech. It was like they were star struck. The night before I couldn't help but notice the MSNBC camera man all over the place, zooming in on the oddest thing; it was so bad, I switched to CNN and Wolfe. Read later that a rumor about drugs was going around. Maybe someone drugged their drinks. I have watched these guys for years and this is the strangest I have seen them. They looked unfrazzled and were disagreeable with each other. With regard to Maher, I like noncomformists -he is a smart guy and so far, what he has been alluding to has all come true with regard to GOP, as Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.
If you are watching the coverage you know much is being done...
okay, you don't believe in prayer. Couldn't you at least say you hope they will be okay? There is only so much men can do...we are talking a huge storm on a town below sea level.

What a nasty attitude.
