History Channel. Those figures are based on evidence collected by historians from the surviving documents of the era and are, at best, "guess-timates". Loyalties changed according to which side held a particular territory. If you were a farmer or local merchant and wanted to keep your property (or just stay alive), you signed an oath to King George or the Continental Congress or both if necessary.

It is about what the PEOPLE want - and they wanted this
Finally the legislators vote what the people want!!!
For people who wanted me banned ....
you certainly want to continue to engage me.

There is media bias. They want Obama elected. They did it to Hillary too, just not to this degree.

How is this coming out swinging? How is this different from posting pro Obama items?

Are you really this intolerant?
How sad for all of us, only 1/3 of people wanted to break away from England too. nm

According to the AMERICAN PEOPLE...

...Obama IS the best man.

So this is all about religion?  Even though Obama is Christian?  No wonder you're all so loopy.

Tell me:  Have you ever watched a Super Bowl and seen HAPPY PEOPLE before?

Are football players the Anti-Christ, as well?

I, for one, do NOT "worship" Obama.  He's not a god.  He's a human being.

If anyone is the "Anti-Christ," it's BUSH!

You of all people are un-American....
You and those like you are the problem with this country. You are so stuck with a party, you don't even care what happens to your country. Since all parties were represented at the protests, it certainly speaks volumes that Americans in general are already fed up with the government as it is being run at this moment. And it didn't take long to get a real eye opener about this president and how little he thinks of this country. He is un-American; he made his little world tour (vacation) and set about bashing this country over and over, making apologies like some little butt kissing sissy, and bowing to his Muslim leader. Even the democrats have been embarrased about this. If he is so apologetic about this country, he should pack his crap up and go live with his Muslim brothers in Indonesia or Kenya, wherever, just not here!

You don't see other country leaders standing on this soil or anywhere making excuses and apologizing for their country, regardless, because it is their duty to stand up for their country..... something Obama never did and the reason has always been obvious to me..... first, he is NOT an American nor is he Christian. He was raised Muslim in a Muslim country with no loyalty to the U.S. whatsoever, just as his family in Indonesia had absolutely no loyalty to the U.S.,and why should they; after all, it is not their country.

Now, he's done there kissing the backside of Chavez, who ironically just a few weeks ago, called Obama an IDI@T!!
Obama. He knows the American people
want to see a debate between the two people who are running for president, one of whom will inheret a BIG MESS.  McCain hasn't worried about voting for anything in a looonnnngggg time.  This is all a ploy, and he GOTCHA!  Teehee.
Safety of American People
What a joke, we are not talking about what the world thinks of us...we are talking about keeping the American people safe; me you, my children, your children, our grandchildren, my mother, father and sisters, my husband, my husband's family.  Do you think I give 2 cents about what the world thinks of us if we don't keep our own people safe?  You are a moron.

Who's selling out the American People?

More Proof Republicans Are Selling Out America: Non Partisan Congressional Research Service Told GOP That Government Spending and Middle Class Tax Cuts Offered The Best Stimulus Bang For The Buck.

How Do You Know Republicans Are Playing Partisan Politics On The Stimulus?

February 9, 2009 · 12 Comments

When Wikileaks gets its hands on all the findings from the Congressional Research Service, which provides secret research documents to Congress (secret so that reports are outside public scrutiny and therefor free of partisan politics). Within those CRS findings are reports which indicate that both government spending is a more effective stimulus than tax cuts, and that tax cuts to lower income individuals is more effective than middle and upper class tax cuts.

Congressional Republicans have been almost exclusively advocating upper and middle class tax cuts and against stimulus spending.

Let it never be said that the GOP lets facts, research, or informed opinion gets in the way of dated, partisan dogma. So much for "country first," the Republicans are more worried about the mid-term elections than they are about helping the American people.

Typical.

Ask the American people who they hold responsible.
nm
Yep. And I will certainly abide by what the american people choose....
be it obama or McCain. But I know one thing...I won't have been a part of putting Obama or anymore Democrats in government. No way. No how. Happy voting!
Nice contradiction to the American people...
you need to scrimp and save, fall behind on your mortgage, be one step away from unemployment, but he$$ yeah, we are throwing an inauguration that will be the most expensive ever. Sheeple, he does not care about you, your tears of joy, your love for him...he is a typical politician, out for himself. You are all playing right into his hands. The dumbing down of America is in full swing; scam them, keep them happy and adoring us and we can do whatever we want to them with their blessing, just keep up the hope and change mantra.
It serves big business, not the American people
And I could care less about a "check." I am more concerned with job creation. If you think that big business has our best interests in mind, look again, who benefitted from the big bank bailout? Certainly not the populace. Speculators are driving up the cost of gas again. McCain, who admitted he knows little about economics, has no business drawing up a plan he knows nothing about.
Republicans Insult the American People

Republicans Insult American People

by Aimee Franc

Right before Obama was elected, Republicans decided to "bailout" the banking industry. It was a socialistic move. But they didn't care because they knew Obama would be elected and that he would eventually take the fallout for it. People like those from Fox News wanted to make sure they continuously got that word "socialism" out there. Now that Obama is President (for only 3 weeks now) Obama is completely to blame for this entire economic mess. Fox news this morning just can't stop talking about it. Fox news acts like the economy is just a joke and Obama is just trying to be a fear monger. They laugh at Timothy Geithner. They laugh about the United States failing. Republicans in fact do want us to fail so that they can be reelected. Now does that sound patriotic to you? Do they really think the American people are that ignorant? Apparently some must be and I'm sure they'll be posting below.

Do you think Bush committed perjury with the American people?
or is that just "business as usual" to go to war without any truth whatsoever.  Hmmm....perjury.... out and out lies.... how far do you want to go with the truth?  Perjury versus death......I take perjury, thank you very much.  By the way, when, if ever, do you think Bush will ever have to tell the truth, or is just a waste of time asking for the truth as someone else posted he will be out of office soon, so let him go....yada yada yada.  But I will say that the Dems have to get their backs up and get on him big time.....so tired of lie after lie after humungous lie from this admin, and I couldn't be happier that he will be leaving, if we are still the United States of America as I knew it when I was growing up... that United States of America is long gone thanks to liars like Bush and his ilk. Perjury....hmmm.
OBAMA WON, the American people have spoken loudly
hahaha
The American people should always question motives of the government...
Motives of politicians are typically to help themselves. Notice how Obama left Unions off of his special interest bring it on list? Could it be because they contributed huge amounts of money to his campaign? Just a thought.
Calling people "un-American" simply because they
nm
The American people didn't listen to the anti Obama sentiments sm
That Ayers crapola is not applicable. All that bashing of Obama is over SOUR GRAPES BABY!!! WE WON, YES WE CAN, YES WE DID

Looks Like A Revolution To me
Well, you see it your way and Merv Griffin and the big crowd that clapped, whistled, cheered when he said it last night on The Late Late Show see it another way.
Now there is going to be a revolution???
This gets better every minute, but I have got to get back to work.
Viva revolution!
First of all, like you really care about broken windows in Argentina or any third world country, LOL, give me a freaking break!  Secondly, hey a little pain for gain..If it takes a few broken windows to show ditto head Bush that he is hated throughout the world and in most parts of America so be it..Revolution is not pretty, it can be quite nasty..and what we are seeing is the American people and, of course, the world turning against Bush, kind of a mini revolution..Viva revolution!!
A bloodless revolution
Merv Griffin on The Late Late Show tonight said it best, the American people have overthrown the government.
Yes, there was a revolution in Cuba....
did not say anything about a revolution here, although with Bill Ayers around...who knows. He could be our next secretary of defense. lol.
our country was started by a revolution

Isn't this something like....oh.....maybe inciting treason or something?

Awesome, thanks for posting, we fought and won the Revolution......sm
against all odds, a bunch of farmers with old muskets and pitchforks in Condord and Lexington, we were rabble, but we beat the British Empire, the greatest empire of its time, not once but twice to maintain our freedom. If we can get that mindset back, then yes we can, we can free ourselved from the tyrany of elitism, suppression of the middle class, and overhaul our social and banking systems. We fought to create and maintain this country, we now have to fight to save it from becoming a sad third-world country, a wasteland. We went from being a "Beacon of Hope" to a laughingstock among nations.
I was brought up Buy American made products, keep American jobs.
Always bought American made cars and bought products from companies where my family was employed. Now look at America? We are definitely connected all around the world.

My feeling? Obama states he wants to start from the poor upward. Not the other way around like it has been for quite awhile. That to me does not necessarily mean just in America, but around the world by taking the poorest countries and working upward so America's pay wages and everything else will be so low and comparable to the poorest countries. After all, we are now connected together.

Cannot wait to see what will happen with the Swine flu this fall with the second wave and what it will do to the economy of all the countries combined at once.
Any child born to American parents is an American -
I am sorry, but I respectfully disagree with you - any child born to American parents is an American even if they are born overseas. The birth has to be registered with the United States, but they are still an American even if they are born in the foreign hospital.

I have 2 cousins who were born in Japan and they have no problems at all being "American".
I never said I wanted the
government to take care of everything and everybody. I want the government to be responsible to its citizens. They work for us. Expecting elderly retirees to get a job or go to college is ridiculous. These people deserve better. I am not complaining about my life. I am reiterating to you what I see here in the Sunshine State. It is all about money all the time. Many people I know will be able to regroup and hold their lives together but I don't understand why the collapse of the middle class is just all right with you.  That is my point.  No need to go into the pull yourself up by your bootstraps argument. We will never see eye to eye on that. This is about our country being in debt out the wazoo, borrowing money from China to fight a war no one wants in Iraq and middle class people being downsized into poverty.  It is not about being lazy or having choices. It is about the sad sorry state of our union.
Yep, just like the DNC wanted you to...
to move the cLintons on their way out. The DNC did not want Hillary from the get-go, and the media helped them accomplish it. And here you are rewarding them by electing the perps. LOL. sigh. Poor Hillary...pilloried by her own.
Thank you - that was all I wanted to know (sm)
sad how many people don't know the answer and just want to dismiss it without even knowing though.
Just wanted to add
I in no way mean to indicate that everyone receiving any type of public aid spends the whole day watching soaps and eating bon bons. Just that a large portion of them (at least in my area) do just that and have lived off it for years as opposed to using it as a temporary crutch while they try to get back on their feet.
Yep, I know....just wanted to be sure all...
of the information was out there and that what Bush did is vastly different than what Obama is proposing. And apparently it is working because they are lining up for the ice cream and defending him right down the line...lol.
Just wanted to say.................. sm

Merry Christmas!

That's not what I wanted to see.

DH has been talking about moving there for a couple years. He loves Canada.

I hate the cold. Think I'm going to show this to him? Nah.

I just wanted to say thanks.
This is the first time that a discussion on same sex marriage has been a good discussion without personal attacks, etc.  Thanks for sharing your point of view with me.
I wanted to, but DH said no.

We have 50 tomato plants in containers, 25 pepper plants (green, hot, hotter, and hotter then he!!), 10 potato plant containers (x6 cuttings in each), and 10 containers of cukes. The only thing we planted in the ground was beans, onions, and radishes. All doing fantastic. Already have a hot pepper and some tomatoes and this weather sucks this year, only 60 damp, dreary, rainy all week...again. Surprised the plants are doing so well.

We also have about 5 tomato plants coming up in the ground from last year.

I was wondering how your garden was doing. Thanks for letting me know.

some information...

I had the privilege and honor of seeing Mother Teresa some years ago in D.C. The audience was made up of a few ordinary people and mostly political and/or media types. The woman did not mince words. She did not hesitate to tell everyone in the audience how she felt that intolerance, indifference, selfishness, materialism and consumerism, the treatment of and attitudes towards the poor, the sick, the imprisoned run rampant were things that incited people to take up arms against each other, to hate one another, etc. and that Americans might want to look a good look at themselves and give some thoughtful prayer to what part they may play in the situations they so despised. Some of the people were so moved by her that they talked to her about going to India. They wanted to work in her clinics, her hospitals, on the streets. She laughed out loud and I will never forget what she said. She said, and I quote, ** You do not have to go to another country to do God's work. Take a look around you. Man's inhumanity to man is evident everywhere. Go into your own cities and find the poor, the needy, the imprisoned, the sick, the haters with hardened hearts, whatever. They will always be with us and they are everywhere. I believe sincerely that peace is God's work, perhaps in the highest form. You think we live in peace here in this country; as Mother Teresa said, look around you. The war is but 1 faction of a very very sick society, a sick world. I was born into peace and nonviolence. I have practiced it all my life. Protests are really quite a small part of my nonviolent lifestyle. There is plenty enough hatred, violence, intolerance and indifference to keep the peacekeepers busy until the end of time, right where they live, wherever that may be.  We also unfortunately have, in this country, warmongering and war profiteering and people in power who could care less about exploiting our troops and whomever they may be fighting. War is a big money maker for some folks. I do protest here but these days it is mostly letters to the editor, letters to senators, clergy, manning phones, that sort of thing. Another thing I believe is that the Creator is the changer of hearts and minds, not men, and that prayer changes things. You asked what I did besides whine on the other board, where were my legs...you asked for it, here it is.

1. I train service dogs for the disabled. I do this for all sorts of people, some of whom happen to be veterans whose welcome home from their government is, in my opinion, nothing short of betrayal. The wonderful projects, facilities that have sprung up to help these vets are all and I mean ALL privately funded, quite a few of the dogs I train have been purchased or **sponsored** meaning covering all costs and it is quite expensive,  from the bleeding heart liberal pinko commies as you refer to us. They pay the fee, anywhere from $12,000 to $25,000 so that people who cannot afford it or whose government does not think them or their service  important enough to provide them everything they could possibly ever need can get something they desperately need. My portion of this 2-year training program is the last leg, the month where trainer, new owner and dog are put together to learn the mechanics of what they are doing together and to learn each other. At this point the dog, its care, individualized training, all vet bills have been paid for. Normally I charge for this month of training that I do one-on-one.  I have NEVER charged 1 red cent to any veteran for my services and I never will. This is one of the ways I support the troops but not the mission. You see, it can be done.

2.  I have belonged to a prayer and meditation for peace group since I was a child. If I go somewhere where I can't find one, I start one or I hook up with the Mennonites or Friends, the original civil disobeyers. We PRAY for peace, for everyone, everywhere.

3.  I work with St. Vincent de Paul (Catholic organization for the needy),

4.  I do meals on wheels (substitute only now, too busy with everything else),

5.  I go with a group of Indians to elementary schools throughout the Tampa Bay area in full regalia with drums, flutes and stories to share with them to try to give them a good honest look at indigenous people. This seems to be going over very well. We have more dates than we can actually handle. I am very proud to do this work.

Those are my legs and I have had them for a long time.  As I recall, this is our board, the L board, so I can post whatever I like and you don't have to read my posts because you always find fault with whatever I said but I will continue to **preach to the choir** as long as I feel like it because it is the liberal board and the liberals don't mind hearing about nonviolence. As Ghandi said, an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. And, for further perusal, here's a bit of history on Ghandi.

After one year of a none too successful law practice (in England), Gandhi decided to accept an offer from an Indian businessman in South Africa, Dada Abdulla, to join him as a legal adviser. Unbeknown to him, this was to become an exceedingly lengthy stay, and altogether Gandhi was to stay in South Africa for over twenty years. The Indians who had been living in South Africa were without political rights, and were generally known by the derogatory name of 'coolies'. Gandhi himself came to an awareness of the frightening force and fury of European racism, and how far Indians were from being considered full human beings, when he was thrown out of a first-class railway compartment car, though he held a first-class ticket, at Pietermaritzburg. From this political awakening Gandhi was to emerge as the leader of the Indian community, and it is in South Africa that he first coined the term satyagraha to signify his theory and practice of non-violent resistance. Gandhi was to describe himself preeminently as a votary or seeker of satya (truth), which could not be attained other than through ahimsa (non-violence, love) and brahmacharya (celibacy, striving towards God). Gandhi conceived of his own life as a series of experiments to forge the use of satyagraha in such a manner as to make the oppressor and the oppressed alike recognize their common bonding and humanity: as he recognized, freedom is only freedom when it is indivisible.

Aho.

Where did this information come from?....
the Obama website? I am not trying to start a fight either, but what makes this information any more accurate than the other poster's? Who has independently verified any of it?

The only one who knows how "indoctrinated" Obama is with the Muslim religion or how much he ascribes to it, supports it or it influences him, is Barack Obama. And I think anyone who thinks differently is fooling himself/herself.

As to the United Church of Christ...it has a flagrantly racist agenda, and regardless of what he says he has to know that if he was listening to any of the sermons...Jeremiah Wright did not wake up the morning of Obama's candidacy a racist and that church did not turn racist overnight...

Don't trust Obama. I have read up about his Chicago days and ties to Daly...the most corrupt political machine in the history of this country.

Nope, don't trust him. Not a bit.
Information is the key
Ladies/gentlemen, we can go back and forth on the candidates and their character, however, as we all know candidates can and will promise anything while running for president and promises are conveniently forgotton once in office.  To find out what is in a candidate's heart, read each party's platform which is easily assessible on the internet. The platform will let you know what the candidates will be focusing on once in office. Since each candidate's economic or tax plan really cannot be tested until they are in office, look for issues that concern you morally. Regardless of which candidate wins, let's vow to be united once it is over.
I believe you get your information
from blogs.
where do you get this information?
I have not heard anything whatsoever about this - can you give me something more?
Add the URL for this information.

Well, call me what you want, but I wanted to know.
I say use God's name when you're speaking the truth. If it's truth point it out to me.

What I wanted to know to start with...
is how can I know that Democrats/liberals/the left, WHOEVER, will keep this country safe, when half of them deny there is a threat and the other half have no idea how to deal with it? What I said it was not political, I meant it. Both sides should be trying to protect this country, but frankly I only see one who seems to understand the threat. As I have said numerous times, I am not a registered Repbulican. I am not thrilled with any party in this country right now, but I have to register as SOMETHING to vote, so I am registered independent. Yes, I am conservative, I have conservative moral values and I believe if we had stuck closer to moral values we would have a lot fewer issues these days, but I digress. My concern is, Dem, that I don't think your party and many of its members grasp what a real threat radical Muslims are, and if you don't perceive the threat you don't take steps to fight it, and that is the reason I referred to Clinton, because in all honesty I do not think he perceived the threat. I do not want to think that he did and ignored it. And my point is, I don't think your party to this day perceives the enormity of the threat, and yes, that scares me. This is not rhetoric. This is the way I, me, personally, feel and has nothing to do with left or right Dems or Republicans, other than the Republicans do seem to have a better grasp on the threat than the Dems do. What I would like to see is America united against the threat, with politics out of it. That is what I would REALLY like to see.
Yes I did, and I never said I wanted free...

healthcare for myself.  I want free or more affordable cost healthcare for American children.  My children are already covered.  My husband has worked for the same company for over 12 years, and he has decent insurance.  You are impossible to argue with because you refuse to admit that we can afford $333 MILLION PER DAY FOR A WAR IN IRAQ, AND WE CAN AFFORD $19 MILLION PER DAY FOR CHILDREN'S HEALTH CARE.  How are your taxes going to be raised to 70% of your income for the health care?  Have they been raised that high for the war?  NO, so your argument is not valid.

Just wanted to say I agree with you. sm
Thanks for saying it. I think it bears repeating: We are animals too (sorry, can't say I care what it does or doesn't say about that in the Bible), the human race is highly overrated LOL, and yeah, what about population control?!

Humans are already using up 30% more of the Earth's resources each year than the Earth can replace (according to a report by Anderson Cooper I saw some months back), and that's at the current worldwide population, which is only expected to increase. What ARE we going to do when we run out of space, and food, water, trees...?

If we're not animals and we're "above" them, we should be smarter about the Earth and all the creatures on it than we have been, and I just don't see the evidence for that.
someone wanted to see SP interview?
well sunday night on fox, greta vansusteren will interview her.  greta is a v. good interviewer too, (with good questions, listens to the answers, etc, if you are not familiar with her).
