I have to ask

what fuel alternatives are there?   We have friends who have some little ole hybrid thing that runs half on electricity or something or other and half on gasoline.  That doesn't seem bery "alternative to me" especially when they paid a huge amount more money for it than for a plain old American car.  We've been fed a lot of propaganda for years regarding the superiority of foreign made cars.

Just wondering, which part of the auto industry does your husband work in?  American made or foreign?
