I believe you are right

I never took poly sci classes so not sure what they teach. I'm 48 years old, and I have seen a switch in how people think over the years probably due to a lot of influence from TV and newscasters who don't report the news but report their opinions. I believe (or hope) whether you're conservative or democrat we all want the same thing - jobs, affordable housing, electricity, an education for our children, something to look forward to and be able to live off of when we retire, etc. I see so much wrong in Washington, Wall street, and executives in all companies. Then when you hear that the bail out that we are going to end up paying for out of our pockets is not actually going to help the people they said it was but instead the same executives that got us into the mess are now pocketing the money for themselves and taking lavish holidays. Man oh man...talk about the blood starting to boil. I've been trying to pinpoint when all this started coming about. Society changed long before GWB got in there. I know it was going on with Clinton and that's when I started leaning more conservative. I voted for the Clinton the first time he ran but lost hopes of him being a decent present when almost within hours of him taking office we saw a major shift for the worst. I don't remember what it was like in America undergo Regan because I was in the army overseas, and Carter I remember a little, but seems a long time ago. I do remember the economy wasn't that great.
Anyway...I'm registered democrat, voted for Obama over Hillary, supported McCain, but I actually did not vote. We have to mail our ballots in and it was one of these yes, no, yes, no maneuvers for us. I did say to my husband, gee if we mailed our ballots in do you think McCain would have won? HA HA
I do think he could have picked a better running mate (actually a more accurate statement would be "they" should have picked a better running mate - McCain didn't pick her, he was told by his superiors (the ones funding his campaign) she would be his running mate, but I truly don't believe she was responsible for the republicans losing. I think he did that all by himself. I think people didn't like her voice (maybe it wasn't masculine enough like Hillary's), but when I'd listen to her speak I'd hear her words and say, she's right about this or that. McCain just kept blowing it. But I do feel Romney would have been a better choice. However, with that said I do believe Obama was picked way long before the race ever began. I do not believe we as individuals choose who the president is. If so, the popular vote would matter, not electoral. Also there are people with "big money" who finance and pay for these candidates and I believe they are the ones who choose our president.
So, I just always say hope for the best, plan for the worst.
