All through the election we were encouraged to be color blind and, judging by the numbers at the polls, that is exactly what people were.
However, NOW that Obama is president, ANY hint of opposition to any of his policies is immediately attacked as being racist. When the dems on these boards shredded Bush constantly for anything he said or did, no one immediately jumped to his defense saying you were picking on him because he was white.
C'mon. Practice what you preach. If this is to be a discussion of politics, stop attacking every anti-Obama post as being racist. He is our president. ALL of us. And criticism comes with the job. Just because he's black, he's not going to get a free ride.

Congratulations to all of you who have hoped Obama would win. I am very happy to have a black man in office, because of all that represents to so many people. I think that part is a huge historical step in the right direction. I am also disappointed because of the areas where I disagree with Obama. But we can't have it all, and truly neither candidate offered everything I would hope for.
With that said, McCain basically asked us all to unify in his speech last night. And I believe he did so because he knows that if we are to survive as a country, that is what we must do. Whether you believe he wrote the speech or not, he spoke the words in front of everyone....basically the world was watching...and I don't believe he would have said things he did not mean.
On a sad note, a dear friend of mine, who is black, stopped at a gas station early this morning and overhead a white man talking saying, "that n***** is going to run this country into the ground." I was heartbroken to hear that. I know racism goes both ways but we have to encourage everyone we know to not have that sort of attitude!!!!
Later this morning, I myself went into a convenient store. There was an Indian man working the register and a black man buying a lottery ticket, and me, a white woman. I smiled and said good morning. The black man looked at me and said, "I can't let Obama outdo me! I need to win the lottery now!" He was obviously happy that Obama won so I said, "oh, you're looking for a double win!" He said, "yes!" and I wished him good luck but told him my dad would be trying to win too and if he wins I get some money :-) He smiled and the guy at the register smiled...I told them all to have a nice day.
Can't we all just be kind to one another?

The point is....Sarah Palin does not do it on a daily basis....
in fact I haven't seen it documented that she did it all, much less all the time; and it is controlled and not done "for fun" as the posteror suggested. As you will note, decisions are made when and where to do it by a board that also has "the public" on it. So it is not all lawmakers or the state that make the decisions. I know he has nothing to prove to you....
but to the 48% of us who don't trust him, he does. I will believe it when I see it. There is nothing in his past to indicate he wants to wipe out party lines, unless that means bring us ALL into HIS light. His entire career has been hard left towing the party line. His votes have all been hard left toeing the party line. And now he wants us to believe that all disappears? He has undergone some miraculous change himself? I would feel better if he used the word "compromise" as much as he used the word "unite." All "unite" means to me is that he wants everyone to come to his side. His entire agenda is diametrically opposed to most of what I believe in. How is he going to "unite" people like him and people like me if he doesn't compromise?
Like I said...I am waiting to see what he does. He said himself he had to earn my trust. So far he is not doing so well. That could "change." Only time will tell.
BTW, this is not an attack. It is just my open and honest concerns about the POTUS. Concerns about any POTUS. I would have held McCain's feet to the fire too. He was certainly not my ideal candidate...but he beat the alternative. Now that the alternative has won...he has to prove himself to me and 48% of the country.

Lebanon and Israel have a long and colourful history of conflict. I am not quite sure what this letter is meant to prove. Hezbollah has used Lebanese residential areas to set up their missles and attack bases. Israel retaliates for the abduction of their people. But first, they drop leaflets, warning civilians to leave. Really, quite a first for this sort of thing. I'm very sorry, but I, for one, am bloody tired of Israel being made the aggressor here. Hamas and Hezbollah have pounded them nearly to oblivion and all you can worry about is a letter from the Lebanese?! I am astounded.
In Massachusetts we have to prove
we have health insurance when we file our state income taxes. We get a form from insurance company that we have to file. Otherwise you lose your personal exemption. I believe at one point part of the plan was they could garnish your wages but not sure on that.
