I am a lifelong Democrat and this makes me happy, I am not voting for Obama sm
I honestly DO NOT care what color his skin is! I also don't really care that Sarah Palin doesn't have a dingle dangle between her legs either. These things do NOT matter.
I would not vote for Obama because as far as I am concerned, he thinks he stands for being a minority. We are headed into another Depression or at least recession. Education in this country is a sick joke. The housing market is crashing. On and on. It is a LOT of gloom and doom and I can't see where Obama stands on ANYTHING. Milquetoast all the way around.
I am not exactly a McCain fan. I met him in 1976, not so very long after he returned from Vietnam. I was a kid and he had a profound impact. I am NOT a Republican, I DO NOT like their platform and I am NOT a conservative...but by golly I will vote for him. I think he can do the job and I think he has ideas. Some of them are wrong to be sure, but he HAS SOME.
As for Sarah Palin, she is not afraid of much I suspect. She wasn't afraid to bring a Down syndrome child into the world and commit to raising him. She had young ones at home, but that didn't stop her going up for office. Fearless and gutsy, brave and standing behind her convictions, such as no abortions...yes I can respect her even if I don't agree with her.
I looked at a picture of her and I saw someone who will likely BE president, and not the VP in the fullness of time. I saw a REAL woman, not a fake, not a politician. Can she be president without making mistakes? No, but no one else can either. She knows what it is to run a household, so yes I think she can run the country. A woman can tell you it is just the same, only bigger and that isn't important to please all the children all the time, but to get the job DONE.
why i'm voting democrat
Just in case you wondered...... I'm voting Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would. I'm voting Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it. I'm voting Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq I trust that the bad guys will stop what they're doing because they now think we're good people. I'm voting Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday CAN tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius. I'm voting Democrat because I'm not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies so long as we keep all death row inmates alive. I'm voting Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as THEY see fit. I'm voting Democrat because I believe three or four pointy headed elitist liberals need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would NEVER get their agendas past the voters. I'm voting Democrat because I believe that when the terrorists don't have to hide from us over there, when they come over here I don't want to have any guns in the house to fight them off with. I'm voting Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I've decided to marry my horse. I'm voting Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 7% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't. Makes ya wonder why anyone would EVER vote Republican , now doesn't it?
This is the last straw!! - I'm voting Democrat!
I have never once voted Democrat - I have been a staunch Republican for my entire adult life, from Nixon on in, for better or for worse -
Okay, now it too much worse. Not only has this economy tanked over this last eight years, gas prices are higher than ever and climbing, now this "rebate" is not coming to me/us. Yeah, rebate - supposed to come to every American who pays taxes to help spur on the economy. But if you owe any taxes, it isn't important to help the ecomony anymore - they take it away before you even get it!. I wonder how many other hard working Americans who owed taxes this year got chiseled out of their rebates!
Obama at least has come from "real people," not some rich senator's family or oil family who has not the slightest idea what normal people go through who work 52 weeks a year, praying for a tax refund, only to find themselves taxed out of any kind of vacation, leisure, or - - rebate.
I'm done! President Bush, I have had it! I don't like you or your administration anymore, and you and your IRS can take a nice long walk off a short pier - we'll never miss you!
Voting Democrat - eeek
I used to vote Democrat until Clinton was in there and all the crap he did with Monica and the lies he told, he should have been impeached. Thank God Hillary is out of the running, though Obama is not much better. I will vote for McCain. He has more experience, more insight into the real world. Obama seems to be running on the promise of a NEW WORLD ORDER, which is very scary. And for him to change the Seal of the US President, and everything else. Then to think about him going to that church for 20 yrs. and listening to the hate spewed out from that pastor, and letting his children hear that, don't you think some of that sunk in? I will vote Republican.
Sigh....the only thing that keeps me from voting for a Democrat...
is the same thing that would keep me from voting for Guiliani...pro choice. Okay...I renig on what I said. If a pro-life Democrat ever gets the Democratic nomination, I would consider voting for a Democrat (which, in the current climate, means about the same as never, right)?
I doubt you would ever vote for a Republican either...was it you or one of your compatriots that said they would vote for their dog before they would vote for a Republican?
Exactly...with my views in the mid-1800's I might have been under the Democratic wing...but would have moved right back out over the slavery issue.
As I have said many times and you continue to ignore...I do not affiliate myself with any political party other than having to register as something by law to have a vote. I am only a registered Republican during primary years.
There are several things I disagree with on the Dem side, not just pro choice...I think you even agreed with me at one point that you thought they were taking enough out of our checks for taxes now and the government should administer it better...was that not you?
I think there are more things that we could agree on...and some things we won't budge on.
My opinions are my own...not given to me by any party or "school of thought." I was against abortion before I really knew what political parties were all about. YOU are the one labeling me and my views as conservative. That's your right, certainly. I do not label myself. I cannot control how YOU label me. I CAN control how I see myself.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, piglet.
You remind me why I stopped voting democrat....(nm)
.
Many repubs voting for Obama in my experience..OR NOT VOTING ..only
only a few stragglers left, like the 26 percent who don't hate Bush.
Most people voting for Obama are voting on emotion...sm
You may be the exception.
All that matters is hope and change. At what cost, my friend, at what cost, will your hope and change come at.
He will try to change the very foundation of this country, the constitution, and our very way of life.
If I wanted that, I'd move back to Russia where some of my ancestors came from.
I can recognize socialism and Marxism, even if half the country cannot.
They only care for hope. And change.
Agree with you 100%, Democrat!
I haven't responded to some of the proposterous posts from the last couple of days because I have heard and responded to the same old worn-out shreiking arguments before. I do commend YOU, though, for your typically thoughtful, well-reasoned, logical replies. Thank you.
I agree entirely with you that in Iraq we have created a laboratory for even greater anti-American rage and don't see the threat going away if we continue on the same course. And what can one say for the following but be very afraid for this country, especially since Addington is one of the 2 who replaced Libby. May God forgive us.
Vice President for Torture
Wednesday, October 26, 2005; A18
VICE PRESIDENT Cheney is aggressively pursuing an initiative that may be unprecedented for an elected official of the executive branch: He is proposing that Congress legally authorize human rights abuses by Americans. Cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment of prisoners is banned by an international treaty negotiated by the Reagan administration and ratified by the United States. The State Department annually issues a report criticizing other governments for violating it. Now Mr. Cheney is asking Congress to approve legal language that would allow the CIA to commit such abuses against foreign prisoners it is holding abroad. In other words, this vice president has become an open advocate of torture.
His position is not just some abstract defense of presidential power. The CIA is holding an unknown number of prisoners in secret detention centers abroad. In violation of the Geneva Conventions, it has refused to register those detainees with the International Red Cross or to allow visits by its inspectors. Its prisoners have disappeared, like the victims of some dictatorships. The Justice Department and the White House are known to have approved harsh interrogation techniques for some of these people, including waterboarding, or simulated drowning; mock execution; and the deliberate withholding of pain medication. CIA personnel have been implicated in the deaths during interrogation of at least four Afghan and Iraqi detainees. Official investigations have indicated that some aberrant practices by Army personnel in Iraq originated with the CIA. Yet no CIA personnel have been held accountable for this record, and there has never been a public report on the agency's performance.
It's not surprising that Mr. Cheney would be at the forefront of an attempt to ratify and legalize this shameful record. The vice president has been a prime mover behind the Bush administration's decision to violate the Geneva Conventions and the U.N. Convention Against Torture and to break with decades of past practice by the U.S. military. These decisions at the top have led to hundreds of documented cases of abuse, torture and homicide in Iraq and Afghanistan. Mr. Cheney's counsel, David S. Addington, was reportedly one of the principal authors of a legal memo justifying the torture of suspects. This summer Mr. Cheney told several Republican senators that President Bush would veto the annual defense spending bill if it contained language prohibiting the use of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment by any U.S. personnel.
The senators ignored Mr. Cheney's threats, and the amendment, sponsored by Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), passed this month by a vote of 90 to 9. So now Mr. Cheney is trying to persuade members of a House-Senate conference committee to adopt language that would not just nullify the McCain amendment but would formally adopt cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment as a legal instrument of U.S. policy. The Senate's earlier vote suggests that it will not allow such a betrayal of American values. As for Mr. Cheney: He will be remembered as the vice president who campaigned for torture.

Yes, I agree with you, Democrat, on all you said.
I agree, Democrat.
This isn't the Christian Jesus I was brought up to believe in!
Well, shocker here, I agree totally, Democrat! nm

I couldn't agree with you more!! I'm voting McCain for the same reason. nm

really, and you are voting for obama? then he is going to take...
from you too. DH and I aren't voting for him because of the taxes he is raising on the 250K an up. You should be worried too if your income is in that range like ours.
With all due respect, I am voting for Obama, not his
Barack Obama addresses issues that mean the most to me. Simple as that. His wife seems to be a caring mother and caring human being in general who is intelligent and well educated. I think those are great qualities for a first lady.
Obama inspires me with his speeches. He reminds me of JFK in that way. He won't fly on private jets because his vote has not been purchased by any large corporations, and he does not want to give that appearance. In other words, I do not think he has been corrupted by money and greed, and in Washington that says a lot!! When I look at the big picture he is my #1 choice. Go Obama. Sorry, couldn't resist the cheerleader! :)
Not voting for Obama either. Will write someone in instead. nm

57% obama; still voting for McCain
Some things like abortion, death penalty and guns really aren't as important as my taxes and his spending of my taxes.
Everyone here knew you were voting Obama
Your phony posts have been full of crap from day one.
Every single post you've made here has bashed Republicans and praised that spider monkey obama.
Perhaps MTs who can't find a job STINK AT THEIR JOBS!!!! If you don't have work, do't blame the Republicans. Get some education and fix the problem yourself.
Stop beggining big government to fix your own shortcomings!!!!!
My reason for not voting for Obama...
he is going to raise DH and my taxes. Yes, we make a very good living through having a good work ethic, not living above our means and working for everything that we have. We have never had to rely on the gov't to give us a handout and we don't expect one. We put ourselves through school with loans that we paid back, we pay for our own health insurance, we paid for daycare when the kids were little, we didn't expect the gov't to give us a thing; we were taught early on that you work hard to achieve your goals and we have. I don't need a president telling my DH and I that we have to "spread our wealth" around to those less fortunate than us. WE decide who to give our money to and when. There will be on incentive to work hard if Obama is elected; laziness will be rewarded. We shouldn't be bailing out big corporations at all, nor should we bail out every homeowner who bought more than they could afford and now expect help. While there are some circumstances that do merit help such as medical reasons or job loss, most are due to financial irresponsibility on the homeowners part. The American Dream is out there if you work for it, but Obama will make sure if you acheive it you must carry someone on your back who doesn't deserve it.
I am not voting for Obama. Are you really that ignorant? nm

I hope you voting for Obama, did you?..nm

Obama, Democrat Approval Slipping
Obama's approval index (number who strongly approve minus number who strongly disapprove) has slipped to +4 from +30 on taking office. 35% strongly approve, 31% strongly disapprove.
Rasmussen polling also shows that more voters would choose a "generic" Republican over a "generic" Democrat in the next election by a 2-point margin. Similar polling in recent weeks had previously shown the Democrats to an edge of up to 6 pointts. This has evaporated.
I predict that the slippage will continue as Democrats overplay their hand in Congress, and as the bill for their drunken spending spree and the unthinkable mountain of debt they're accumulating begins to land on the average citizen, as it ALWAYS does, one way or another (higher local/state/sales taxes, higher license fees, higher prices, wage stagnation, etc.).
The reason this always happens is because that's the way economics happens to work and neither Obama, Pelosi nor any of their arrogant commie pals can change the rules of economics - even if they do push us into socialism. (Some of our younger members should study up on the inequality of income that has resulted under ALL of the socialist, "nanny-state" and/or communist systems. It will disillusion you about all such schemes forever.)
Feel the same and wont be voting for Obama. nm

Color blind here and voting for Obama. However, sm
I heard on the news today that people saying they will not vote for him because he is a Muslim (he is not) because it it politically incorrect to say they will not vote for him because he is black. I think that no one on this board will admit to not voting for him because he is black, the Bradley effect is alive and well I think.

Obama campaign sets record for democrat
ACTION ALWAYS SPEAK LOUDER THAT WORDS, and what transpired this June 30 for the Obama presidential campaign speak volumes for anyone who knows a mote about USA politics! Even though Obama has not and will not accept a single dime from any high-powerful, super rich and corrupting lobbyist; and even though his support base include many ordinary common people of all races and poor small contributors, still he managed to set an ALL TIME record for the most money that a democrat has ever raise in a six month period - not to mention that he is black, a person with Muslim roots, a upstart first term Senator, and an opposer to the Iraq war! This indeed is phenomenal, and a sign that indeed Obama’s campaign is a force to be reckoned with. He said that he has the largest grassroots campaign in history and now, few can muster the courage to try to dispel or argue against his claim.

Commentary: Voting against Obama doesn't make you a racist...sm

just as i hope African American's aren't voting for Obama for that reason!
NM (i suppose that means "no more"? or something) im still a bit new to the board!
There are other choices. I find Obama and McCain equally offensive, so I am voting for Ralph Nader.
Bob Barr might also be a good choice.
Voting for the lesser of 2 evils is still voting for evil. sm
The 2 main choices are horrible. They only offer a continuation of the status quo. Nothing on bringing the troops home (now not 5 years from now), no sound monetary policy, reinstating our civil liberties, etc. Third party candidates have better platforms. People should be voting principles over party, or you deserve whatever you get.
I want change. Chump change. I'm voting for Obama as far as the pollsters go.
Obama is change you can believe in until you have to take it to the bank.
Our jobs have been offshored until now because of greed. Under Obama and his taxation of small businesses, they will be offshored not because of greed but because of survival.
You could make a difference for our country by not voting for Obama, but instead, if you vote for him, you are selling out to deception. You are embracing a socialist, a communist, a Marxist, a liar, a cheat, and someone who legally cannot run as President of the U.S., much less the Illinois senate. But, you make your choice. You believe the consumate liar and his lies who sat for 20 years under the teachings of a black racist preacher filled with hatred for the U.S., whose association with Bill Ayers is recent and documented down to the fact that Ayers himself wrote Obama's best-selling book (best-selling in the eyes of far left liberals that is), who is a documented member of the socialist party, whose friends and close allies are extremists who not only bomb innocent people and are unrepenetent but who intend to eliminate (kill) 25 million Americans who they cannot "re-educate" in communist ideaology (gosh dog it, those dreadful capitalists), who refuses to hand over a certified copy of his birth certificate and educational records (my goodness, don't you have to provide your birth certificate to any number of entities who want to know if you are legal, i.e., social security, DMVs, etc., and your educational records would show if you had received aid as a foreigner and in 1963 would have shown you were a negro instead of an African-American which Obama's falsified record shows, please speck up on history), and who thinks Joe the Plumber is so stupid not to realize that if he wants to achieve the American dream, he is going to achieve it only if he lets Obama take what he makes to give to those WHO WILL NOT WORK. I'd like to see you, liberals, give a share of your 7.5 cpl to those who don't work as hard as you, but then with Obama, that's what you will have to do. Don't be fooled by his rhetoric that only those making over $250,00 will be taxed. We will all be taxed, and there will be no incentive to work for any of us because we will all have to give up a piece of our pie so those who do not work can have a piece of our pie.
Here is the dividing line, folks. We are at a crossroads in our history. The Lord Jesus puts it this way, "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction; and there are many who go in by it."
Choose which gate you enter, the wide or the narrow. It not only determines your eternal destination, but it determines the destination of this country. If anyone here calls themself a Christian and can vote for Osambo, I daresay you are a liar and cheat just as he. One cannot be a Christian and vote for a party and a political candidate who is in total rebellion to God's Word. That is a fact, and if you think any differently, then you, too, like the Obamanation, call God a liar. May He have mercy upon your soul. As He makes the rain fall on the just and the unjust because He is no respector of persons, we will all suffer as this country is destroyed and our Constitution that guarantees our freedoms is trampled just as Bill Ayers is pictured standing upon our flag in total disrespect, and we will thank you liberals that we are all in bondage, reduced to third world status, just as the Israelites were in Egypt. Only Obama ain't no Moses but a Muslim and has no favor with God, and there will be no one to lead us to the Promised Land coming from the Democratic party.
Voting present and not voting, who has
the highest record in DC of simply not voting - McCain. Yes, Obama is up there too but ole' McCain is #1 for no votes.
I agree. Mr. Obama is also, and the...
Jeremiah Wright thing brought that into light but...if you read these posts, it IS scary. I am reminded of the Pied Piper....while I am not 100% on John McCain, cannot vote for a man whose morality is the polar opposite of my own and I feel, personally, mmoves us even further down the path of destruction. When the moral fiber of a country goes south...you figure it out. This has become a country who views killing the unborn is nothing more than a medical procedure to the tune of millions every year, an "oops" method of birth control, and many of these people are wanting to install a President who believes it is ok to put a baby who survives an abortion (it happens) in a closet alone to die, and is still able to sleep at night. Never in my lifetime would I vote for a man or woman of ANY party who would vote in favor of that. Just my two cents. And yes, he did, while he was Illinois state senator. Beware of the wolf in sheep's clothing.
The center of this man's popularity is old as time itself. Class warfare..."I am going to punish all those nasty rich people (one of whom he is by the way) and give it all back to you poor oppressed bless your hearts, going to get you off welfare and get you a job (what a joke, half of the Democratic base would be gone), going to give you all free health care (even if the quality of said care tanks) and playing to that petty human emotion of "why should I have to work so hard when they have so much money" syndrome. Sigh. Who do they think employ most of the people in the United States? Those nasty rich people. Who do they think pays 75% of the taxes that are paid in this country already? Those nasty rich people. Why do they think those nasty rich people offshore? Because the Democratic tax and spend folks have been taxing them to DEATH in their own country for years. Here's a news flash for them! Have all the nasty rich DEMOCRATS pay more taxes. There is no law that says you can't. Let them put their money where their mouth is. If these people think only rich Republicans offshore or take every tax loophole the law allows...well, I won't even go THERE. Just wish folks would realize they are being led down the garden path. Can't see past the words and see the man. Can't put all the stuff together that has come out about the man, his behavior over several years and see him for what he is. They actually buy the story that he went to Wright's church for 20 years and never heard one of those sermons. Oh, COME ON. You cannot tell me he has lived with Michelle lo these many years when they do not share the same views on race and politics. Oh, COME ON. These "Obamaites" are being hijacked and led down the garden path by, I will admit, the best snake oil salesman I have seen in years...which is bad enough...but they are THRILLED to be led. LOL..sigh. I am reminded of the man who whistled on the way to the gallows...
i agree with that ... just not obama

I agree Obama is a breath
of fresh air and I love that he inspires people. However, I would encourage all Democrats, Independents, et al, to consider Governor Bill Richardson of New Mexico. On the Democratic side, he has by far the best resume. He is a superior negotiator, served as head of the Department of Energy, sat at the UN, was an ambassador. Here is a link to his web site. It is quite lengthy, but you can scan over it and just look at the positions he has held and the things he has done.

I agree with M Obama - here is my post
This is the message I said I would post here.
In reply to the Clinton’s had nothing to do with the last 8 years. This is absolutely correct, but the Clinton administration was just as bad before that. The Clinton years were the worst of my adult life (and my friends and family who are staunch democrats). So we’ve actually had 16 years of garbage for Presidents (20 if you consider Bush Sr.). Government grew and paychecks shrunk. Promises broken, tax increases (with the Clinton administration). The Clintons did nothing for the middle income people. Their “1% wealthiest” friends continued to receive more benefits. Our families friends were losing their houses and had to go back to living with their parents as they could no longer afford to live anymore. I think a lot of people forget the following:
Somalia – another unnecessary war
Kosovo – another unnecessary war
Elian Gonzales
Receiving money funded from china (treasonous tradeoffs I think it was called) for his re-election
Bill & Hillary stating they never heard of people (criminals who gave them money) when indeed they have pictures.
Hillary’s financial and other records sealed so nobody would find out the stuff she did (why?)
Monica Lewinski
Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Kathleen Wiley, Juanitta Broderick, etc, etc,
Vince Foster (untimely passing)
Ron Brown (untimely passing)
Hillary pulls Bill off of D. Morris as Bill is getting ready to punch him in the face yelling at him “Bill, think about what your doing”. Then walked around telling D. not to say anything to anyone.
Numerous times secret service had to pull Hillary of Bill
Hillary’s foul language
Hillary’s “female” relationships
Bill’s “female” relationships
Lying under oath
Impeached
Decimating our military within two weeks of being elected
Whitewater
Ban lifted on gays in the military
They destroyed and stole white house furniture and artifacts on their way out. Urinated on carpets, walls, etc. It was a real mess to clean up.
And those are only a few of the highlights of the Clinton administration. She wants to take credit for anything good that happened, then she better take credit for the bad too. Especially when she was running the show while Billy was off with his girlfriends.
They are both a couple of criminals and should have gone to jail for half the stuff they did. So while the last eight years have been bad, the previous eight were just as bad. - And all my MIL can say to me is.... "oh but he's so good looking".
kind of have to agree with Obama on the
I'm sure the preacher is controversial. But for a person to maintain membership in a church for two decades, he or she cannot be supporting controversy all that time. The man seems to address past racially charged issues, some of which did go to the fact that Gosh did indeed darn America from a black perspective. It all depends upon one's point of view.
I do agree that Obama needs to speak more strongly in opposition to some of the more inflammable rhetoric Wright has used.
And Obama's closing words are good, too. Judge him and his views; not someone else's.
I think ABC is politicizing something.
Totally agree with you about Obama...sm

I've seen Obama many times in interviews (on Nightline, for example, long before he was even the presumptive Dem. nominee) and he answers questions thoughtfully and intelligently. It's funny to me that anyone would criticize his speaking ability of all things.
Well, if Obama WOULD agree with your posts...
yet another huge reason not to vote for him. But I do not think for 1 minute he would. I cannot imagine this sort of ... tripe ... issuing from Barack Obama's mouth. If it did, he would be maligning a good portion of his base. But even that said...I don't believe he would. I believe he is a basically decent man...and basic decency should preclude anyone from posting this ... well to call it crap elevates it.
I agree, but congress will never let Obama
do everything he wants to do anyway. They never do for any president. When they do agree on something, congress will always have something in it for them or their interests and the middle class pays out nose for it.
