Having government so involved in businesses to the point that they can determine how much employees are paid goes against the idea of free enterprise and more with the idea of a state-owned economy. However, if a company or business asks for and accepts government help, I think there should be some oversight as to how the money is spent if the ones spending the money (top execs) don't seem to have the common sense to use the money wisely and not just divvy it up amongst themselves in the form of bonuses and other perks.

In my not so humble opinion, this boils down to greed on the part of the American people, and not just the top execs of mega corporations. We have all become far to greedy and far too indoctrinated in the notion that we have to "keep up with the Jonses." Well, looks like "the Jonses" are broke and have been broke for some time. Easy credit and home loans that are beyond an individual's resourses are the cause of our situation and it dates back several years. I don't know the answer, but I honestly don't think that government-owned businesses are the answer. Quite a quandry.
