I do plenty of reading, thank you very much.  However, at this point scientific reports supporting or not supporting the idea of global warming are a dime a dozen.  And why is that?  Exactly why do we not have as you would say one definitive voice either giving validity to or negating claims of the human footprint?  Perhaps this topic hasn't had the funding lately (I'd say for about the last 8 years) that it deserves?  And why is that?  Because there's still money to be made in oil. 

The one thing you can't deny is the fact that the earth's temperature is rising.  We can dispute the impact that humans have had on the rate of this warming, but that doesn't change the fact that it is warming.  Assuming you have done your share of reading as well, you should know that the polar ice caps are at this moment melting and sea levels are rising.  Yes, they've been doing this for a long time, but now the effect is exponential.  Hmmm....wonder what happened there...

So, regardless of how global warming came about (which is the true argument), why wouldn't we want to try to do something about it? 

Tell me, what do you think will happen when the ice caps are gone?  (And yes, they are definitely melting....look it up.)  What do you think will happen when the CO2 buildup gets to the point of suffocation?  (Yep, that's been documented as well.)  Or maybe that's just not important to you.  Maybe God will just appear and it will all go away?  Or maybe you pray to a different god....perhaps the one that lives in your wallet?

The society that does not explore progressive thinking is the society that is oblivious to the dangers ahead.

I mean they get angry just because Hamas randomly shoots missles into their cities so I understand the outrage from the media.

"This is really so completely ridiculous. For days the Muslim Hamas goons in Gaza launch rockets at Israeli civilians. The "Arab world" is quiet. Then Israel retaliates and the "Arab World' suddenly goes nutso. How long do we tolerate this asinine double standard?

Where was the Arab world when those rockets were being fired at innocent Israelis? Sitting on their butts and shutting the h@!! up, that's where .. and the same goes for much of the oh-so-enlightened European Union. Then Israel retaliates and the world is coming to and. Everybody tells Israel to be careful about causing civilian casualties. Do any of you remember "the world" telling Hamas to be careful about where they aim those rockets? Did "the world" warn Israelis about civilian casualties among the so-called "Palestinians?"

Hamas tells Israel that if they don't stop their assault then Hamas is going to resort to suicide bombings. Are you believing this? Hamas feels free to fire rockets indiscriminately into the Israeli civilian population. They're telling Israel that if it tries to stop them from playing with their rockets, they'll move on to suicide bombs. In other words ... the message is that Israel just has to endure the rocket attacks and do nothing in return. 

Israel is to be admired here. They have a civilian population to protect, and the h@!! with world opinion. When "the world" shows as much concern for innocent Israelis dying under Hamas rocket barrages as it does for Palestinians, then maybe Israel will listen.

I have decided to not even read the conservative board any more, let alone post there.

My suggestion is we respect their board and stop posting there, as they have asked us to do, and that they in turn stop posting on our board, as we have asked them to do.

Anybody want to bet on who can't stay away from which board?

talking about how in America hard work is rewarded and I about spit out my pop I was sipping at the time.  Under his regime....hard work will not be rewarded.  What you earn with your hard work will be given to others who don't work hard.  Reward my rear end.  Sheesh. 

This whole bail out thing has me irritated beyond belief.  The idea of us having to pay in taxes because some irresponsible people got greedy and screwed us all.  This only makes the idea of universal healthcare worse to me.  Once again, having to pay for other people to have health insurance.  How is it my fault wall street crashed and how is it my fault that some people don't have health insurance but I guess as long as we all pay out the ying yang....everything will just be peaches n cream.....oh please...give me a friggin break. 

WASHINGTON - The White House is suddenly facing damaging evidence that it misled the public by insisting for two years that presidential adviser Karl Rove wasn't involved in leaking the identity of a female CIA officer. President Bush, at an Oval Office photo opportunity Tuesday, was asked directly whether he would fire Rove -- in keeping with a pledge in June, 2004, to dismiss any leakers in the case. The president did not respond. For the second day, White House press secretary Scott McClellan refused to answer questions about Rove.

This article says that the White House may have misled the public.  And, they apparently pledged to fire anyone who had leaked this information.  This has become interesting, hope it doesn't fade right away from the public view.

Here's a snippet from a piece on CNN from today.  It's an interview with John Dean.  He points out that this Rove thing is not all that simple and there may be other things involved than just outing a CIA agent.

DOBBS: In a perhaps bizarre piece, it appears that Time magazine leaked some material to Newsweek magazine. I can't say that for certain, but it appears that way. The fact is: It's unclear whether what Karl Rove may or may not have done here is even illegal.

DEAN: That's right. It isn't clear.

DOBBS: What's your sense of that?

DEAN: We can't tell on the facts we have alone whether we have a law that's been violated or which laws have been violated. The attention is focused on the CIA Identities Protection Act and that hasn't really been my concern.

I think probably the lawyers involved in this case are looking at the other potential concerns. You take the prima facie facts we have and this could very well be a couple statutes that are involved with Mr. Rove.

He could be, well, converting government information to his own political uses and putting it out, and that is a violation of the law. It could be the statute that got a lot of those of us involved in Watergate, which is if he is conspiring with others to do what he's not being paid as a government employee to do, which it would be in this instance, to leak information for political purposes. That in turn, could be a violation as well.

DOBBS: Effectively, fraud and conspiracy.

DEAN: Yes.
