I'm a Southerner too and

what I can't believe is how much racism is still alive and well.  I'm with you, I would vote for a Martian that was pea green with orange stripes if I thought he could straighten out the ills of this country.

Unfortunately, the racism is just as much from the blacks if not moreso than it is from whites.  Like 95% of blacks are voting for Obama.  Obviously 95% of whites aren't voting for McCain.  We don't need racism.  We need to vote for the man we feel will do the best job and not just for the color of his skin.  That includes both sides of the fence!!!
