Since Palin has come on the scene, she has been out front at every campaign stop. It seems as if she is running for President while McCain remains in the background and just applauds her. I don't think I've seen him open a campaign speech since her appointment. I wonder if this was intentional. Did they need to get him out of the spotlight or did she just take over?

Raila Odinga and Barrack Obama: Odinga claims to be Obama's 1st cousin although the Obama campaign denies this. Clearly, Obama campaigned for someone who is corrupt, ruthless and has financial ties to terrorists. More importantly, Obama campaigned for a candidate who had the stated objective of dismantling US & Kenyan government efforts to root out AL Queda and other terrorist organizations. Organizations that had already caused the deaths of hundreds of Americans and Africans in embassy bombings. Senator Obama�s actions�intentional or not�were in direct conflict with the efforts and interests of US national security. I think this raises serious questions about the judgment, maturity and readiness of Senator Obama.

Reverend Wright and Barrack Obama: Obama met Wright when he moved to Chicago after college. Here is a quote from Obama, "And that's where I met Rev. Wright and started going to Trinity United Church of Christ and he helped me on another journey and introduced me to someone named Jesus Christ. And I learned that my sins could be redeemed. I learned that those things that I was too weak to accomplish myself, maybe he could accomplish them for me if I placed my trust in him. First of all, for all you people screaming about Sarah Palin being a nut job Christian and praying for our country......what do you have to say about Obama and finding Jesus Christ? Talk about a double standard there. Furthermore, this goes to show that Obama was close to Rev. Wright and his claim that he had no idea about Wright's views are just untrue. You cannot attend a church for 20 years and seek counsel from a man and not know what that man stands for.....pure hatred and racism. Barrack Obama also refused to denounce Rev. Wright stating that he could no sooner denounce a family member. However, as Rev. Wright continued to spew out hatred from his mouth.....in Obama's best political interest...he threw his mentor and pastor of 20 years under the bus to try and save his career.

These are just three associations of Barrack Obama. This doesn't include Rezko and the monies given to Obama's campaign and the help he received in buying his house at a substantial lower price. This doesn't include Obama's association with ACORN and the fact that Obama himself trained ACORN members in Chicago.

But the point is, President Obama made a promise to the American people and he needs to do his best to keep it. Otherwise he did not mean what he said, was only saying something to get elected. Our President needs to put the American people first. He made the promise to help American workers have jobs here in America. I heard him say it.

who wants to sit down and civilly discuss things without preconditions. Now either he is lying about converting to Christianity and that doesn't bode well for Americans if he sides with the Islamic extremists OR they want him dead too for switching his faith in which case there will be no discussing of anything with those people. So where does that leave us? If Obama converted after being raised Muslim, he should know better than anyone the rule for converting.

So either Obama will turn on us and side with the Muslims or the extremists will do all in their power to try and kill our president for being an infidel. Either way.....how is this good for the US.

Oh, wait....no...it can't be....the audacity of this man. He isn't even president yet, and just look at how he has changed this country. He has given people hope for a brighter future....the nerve. -- hit the ground running. Just got done watching TV to see what his first day was like. Just for fun, I looked up Bush's first day in 2001. Here's what I found:

Yeah, that whack-job started whacking way at women's control over their own bodies, tried to integrate government and the church (HUGE mistake!), and to outlaw one of the most promising medical breakthroughs. I'm surprised witch-trials and book-burning didn't come back into fashion again under his "leadership".

I think where he belongs is in some isolated, authoritarian religious cult out in the middle of nowhere.

I see again that everyone is talking about President Obama's plan for universal health care and I once again feel the need to distinguish between universal health care and what the plan is that President Obama has campaigned for. I have copied and pasted part of the web page, but also included the link at the bottom of this for you to see the whole plan.

President Obama does not ask for universal health care where the government is in charge - he just wants the government to ensure that everyone has access to medical care and health insurance. Why is it so difficult to understand that this is not socialized medicine, government run healthcare, or universal coverage plans?

Sometimes politics has the uncanny effect of mirroring the national psyche even when nobody intended to do that. This is perfectly illustrated by the rousing effect that Gov. Sarah Palin had on the Republican convention in Minneapolis this week. On the surface, she outdoes former Vice President Dan Quayle as an unlikely choice, given her negligent parochial expertise in the complex affairs of governing. Her state of Alaska has less than 700,000 residents, which reduces the job of governor to the scale of running one-tenth of New York City. By comparison, Rudy Giuliani is a towering international figure. Palin's pluck has been admired, and her forthrightness, but her real appeal goes deeper.

She is the reverse of Barack Obama, in essence his shadow, deriding his idealism and exhorting people to obey their worst impulses . In psychological terms the shadow is that part of the psyche that hides out of sight, countering our aspirations, virtue, and vision with qualities we are ashamed to face: anger, fear, revenge, violence, selfishness, and suspicion of "the other." For millions of Americans, Obama triggers those feelings, but they don't want to express them. He is calling for us to reach for our higher selves, and frankly, that stirs up hidden reactions of an unsavory kind. (Just to be perfectly clear, I am not making a verbal play out of the fact that Sen. Obama is black. The shadow is a metaphor widely in use before his arrival on the scene.) I recognize that psychological analysis of politics is usually not welcome by the public, but I believe such a perspective can be helpful here to understand Palin�s message. In her acceptance speech Gov. Palin sent a rousing call to those who want to celebrate their resistance to change and a higher vision.

Look at what she stands for:
--Small town values -- a denial of America's global role, a return to petty, small-minded parochialism.
--Ignorance of world affairs -- a repudiation of the need to repair America's image abroad.
--Family values -- a code for walling out anybody who makes a claim for social justice. Such strangers, being outside the family, don't need to be heeded.
--Rigid stands on guns and abortion -- a scornful repudiation that these issues can be negotiated with those who disagree.
--Patriotism -- the usual fallback in a failed war.
--"Reform" -- an italicized term, since in addition to cleaning out corruption and excessive spending, one also throws out anyone who doesn't fit your ideology.

Palin reinforces the overall message of the reactionary right, which has been in play since 1980, that social justice is liberal-radical, that minorities and immigrants, being different from "us" pure American types, can be ignored, that progressivism takes too much effort and globalism is a foreign threat. The radical right marches under the banners of "I'm all right, Jack," and "Why change? Everything's OK as it is." The irony, of course, is that Gov. Palin is a woman and a reactionary at the same time. She can add mom to apple pie on her resume, while blithely reversing forty years of feminist progress. The irony is superficial; there are millions of women who stand on the side of conservatism, however obviously they are voting against their own good. The Republicans have won multiple national elections by raising shadow issues based on fear, rejection, hostility to change, and narrow-mindedness.

Obama's call for higher ideals in politics can't be seen in a vacuum. The shadow is real; it was bound to respond. Not just conservatives possess a shadow -- we all do. So what comes next is a contest between the two forces of progress and inertia. Will the shadow win again, or has its furtive appeal become exhausted? No one can predict. The best thing about Gov. Palin is that she brought this conflict to light, which makes the upcoming debate honest. It would be a shame to elect another Reagan, whose smiling persona was a stalking horse for the reactionary forces that have brought us to the demoralized state we are in. We deserve to see what we are getting, without disguise.

Here is Obama's response on all the Palin family stories swirling around. He said he would fire any staffer found to be stoking the fires on these stories. I agree with him 100%:

"I have said before and I will repeat again: People's families are off limits," Obama said. "And people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as a governor and/or her potential performance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18 and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn�t be a topic of our politics."
