Palin and the Pope
Sarah Palin is invited to meet with the Pope while he is vacationing in Venice.
The liberal press reluctantly watches the semi-private audience, hoping they will be able to allot minimal coverage, if any.
The Pope asks Governor Palin to join him on a Gondola ride through the canals of Venice.
They're admiring the sights and agreeing on moral issues when, all of a sudden, the Pope's hat (zucchetto) blows off his head and out into the water. The gondolier starts to reach for the Pontiff's cap with his pole, but this move threatens to overturn the floating craft. Sarah waves the tour guide off, saying, 'Wait, wait. I'll take care of this. Don't worry.'
She steps off the gondola onto the surface of the water and walks out to the Pope's hat, bends over and picks it up. She walks back across the water to the gondola and steps aboard.
She hands the hat to the Pope amid stunned silence.
The next morning the topic of conversation among Democrats in Congress, CBS News, NBC News, ABC News, CNN, the New York Times, Hollywood celebrities, and in France and Germany is:
'Palin Can't Swim.'

I'm pretty sure that Pope post was tongue in cheek.
Lest we forget, Al-Quada arrived in Iraq
We are NOT IN CHARGE of what happens in Iraq. If civil war is their destiny, what make you think it will not happen REGARDLESS of when we withdraw? Genocide? By whom. Against whom? If the entire Middle East blankets itself in Islamic theocracies, we have no one to blame but western powers who have been trying to meddle in their affairs for the last 80+ years, and the US for the past 50+. Our CIA sponsored a coup that overthrew a democratically elected secular president in Iran who would have deposed monarch rule and established a secular Socialist democracy. We didn't like him so much because he had the gall to believe that Iran's oil belonged to Iran and wanted to nationalize the industry. We overthrew him and re-installed our puppet Shah who went on to repress and toture his opposition (instead of giving them representation in the government) to such an extent that Khomeini was able to spearhead his overthrow and the establishment of Islamic theocracy. The British and Americans have been the architects of the most destabilizing force in the region by its support of Israel, where we presume to draw and redraw and redraw again borders that send millions of refugees into the diaspora. Western interference in the ME is exactly the force that emboldens and empowers jihadists. Restore NORMAL relations with those countries and watch the extremist disappear back into the shadows they emerged from.
Big-3 corporate CEOs arrived in Washington in - sm
PRIVATE Lear jets to ask for a bailout. Proof positive that those people don't have a clue how to run a successful business, which is why the auto industry is now failing.
I don't want to see them get a penny only to squander it. Before I'd give a thumbs-up to any kind of a bailout, they need to:
a) SELL the jets.
b) Redesign, retool, and get out of bed with the oil industry, so they can get us independent of fossil fuels. If they had used their brains, and built cars that were equal to or better than the foreign manufacturers in quality, safety, and efficiency, they wouldn't be in this pickle. But no, they wanted their big profits NOW, and screw the future. Well, the future has now come and bit them in the behind.
c) Part of the retooling process should include dumping the CEOs (who are obviously worthless) and all upper management. The average Joe line-assemblyman could probably run those companies better than the fat-cat CEO's have been doing.
