It was the truth & I admire Colbert's guts. sm
Typical neo-conservative, do not like the message shoot the messenger. Colbert said what MOST of us think, but are afraid to say. The looks on their faces were priceless.
Okay, so only Fox News tells the truth. I see where you're coming from. nm
nm
so if lies he is condemned, and if he tells the truth he is condemned
interesing reasoning
Someone needs to say it, wish more had the guts.sm
What he said was the truth. Everything has gotten so Orwellian it is creepy. The silence about it from both left and right is disturbing.
Truth = nuts.
Free speech = treason.
Wow....I know most of you hate his guts but...
he is a human being after all, and he just looks to me like he hs the weight of the world on his shoulders, and doesn't try to hide it for a photo op. I don't agree with all the decisions he has made, but I am firmly behind him on his terrorism stance, and I appreciate the fact that he doesn't mind showing his emotions. He is the FIRST President I have ever seen in tears talking with fallen soldiers' families, and he is not the first President to be in power in wartime. Yet many will say he doesn't care that soldiers die. Which is a ridiculous statement. Like I said, I do not agree with many decisions he has made, but I don't think he is the devil incarnate. As much as I have heard Obama say he was against the war, he wouldn't even go and visit wounded soldiers still living, and I certainly have never seen him in tears or even the least bit emotional talking about the losses. To him it is numbers it would appear...to Bush those numbers have faces and families. I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't what was on his mind in this photo.
I just don't understand the demonization of one man. I didn't see that treatment of Kennedy during Viet Nam or Clinton during Somalia and Kosovo...but of course, those men were Democrats. I guess that makes a difference in the minds of some. In mine...not so much.
Well, if you have the guts, go to the site...
http://www.abort73.com/ and view that video. The one that starts out with warning, graphic images. Then you come back here and tell me about baby mutilation.
And frankly, the way a bill is worded means nothing. If you would vote against a bill designed to save a child born alive for ANY reason, you are, in MY opinion, morally bankrupt. That is putting politics above the life of a child, and that tells me all I want to know about Barack Obama's decision-making process. If that sits okay in your books, fine, you certainly have the right to your opinion. I have the right to mine as well...and it does not sit okay with me.
I saw her. The lady has guts too!
nm
So, you don't have the guts to comment on
the mass execution of 3000 women, children and elders in Sabra and Shatila? Sort of reminiscent of Nazi concentration camp tactics, don't you think? Line 'em up single file and gun 'em down. Fine by you, yes? Children, no problem, right? After all, they are born terrorists, according to you.
OBAMANOMICS: In your guts you know he's
So, we all know that California is absolutely on the brink of bankruptcy - perhaps as soon as July. The state desperately needs to make certain wage cuts - and the Obama administration responds by threatening to rescind the state's share of stimulus money!! Can you say "oxymoron"??
Now, if the more cynical among you might be wondering if a union could be behind this ridiculous situation...well, you'd be right. The infamous SEIU - just another boil on the backside of this nation.
Zell Miller is the man!! That man has guts. That is the ONE...
Democrat I vote for. What are you gonna fight them with? Spitballs?? Love him. lol.
no compassion
No, it is give to those who are LESS FORTUNATE than you are.
Not all who are rich have worked hard for it, some were just LUCKY or INHERITED it.
compassion
i am anti-abortion, but i look to those among us who have forgiven people who have murdered their loved ones as my example. i was taught that God is a God of justice AND mercy - so it is possible for us to require justice for wrongdoing, and, at the same time, mourn for and forgive that person even as they sit in jail rightfully punished and/or executed for 'shedding innocent blood'. i am reminded of the verses of Matthew 6:14/15, which comes right after the "the Lord's prayer" - For if ye forive men their trespases, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Heavy, difficult stuff, just like matthew 7:1/2 (and the several following verses that build upon this idea, right up until the marvelous 21st-23rd verses)-
Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judement ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
yes, we, all - men and women, should keep our pants zipped up and not show anyone what we would not show our grandmothers before we get married, but we are human and frail. you are fortunate to have such support in your family and in your life that no danger has befallen you. i wish that blessing upon all.
I think Lieberman puts Country first. -has guts.nm
nm
Yep. She has smart and has guts. Leftists hate her.
nm
Not enough people in this country have the guts for a tax revolt.
Unfortunately, the game is rigged against that too, because you need to be able to defeat an incumbent in the primary (in order to have another candidate of your party), and many incumbents run unchallenged in their primaries. This means you have to vote against them in the general election by voting for a candidate of another party. Many people find this very repugnant to do unless the candidate is truly very moderate.
When you really look at how the major parties have rigged the electoral process to keep themselves in office, you can see the extent of the corruption. On the other hand, when you look at countries that have more than two major parties, those don't work any better because two of them will get together to collude against the third party, etc. Israel is a good example of the mess you get into with multiple parties, none of which can get elected by themselves. They end up forming "alliances" with other parties and it gets very complicated just trying to figure out "who" is going to be in power or what they will do.
Perhaps there's a really big question here: Is mankind capable of competent self-government that is free of corruption, influence-peddling, secret deals and lies? I am beginning to think not.
Sounds like you have compassion for everyone!
xx
compassion is standing up
for the wronged and the weak. Your constant assaults on the truth deserve no compassion. We are standing up for the truth which will lead us out of the current darkness that has descended upon our country. As soon as the scoundrels are ejected, hopefully the veil will be lifted. Until then, we will yank out the roots of deception before it can take root and grow and spread.
No, your lack of compassion upsets me. sm
You need to think about THAT.
You aren't aware of what compassion is.
It includes responding IMMEDIATELY to those in need. It includes a leader who makes RESPONSIBLE appointments to vital public posts (not lazy college drinking buddies who used to run horse associations). How carelessly you toss out accusations of taking political advantage while the leader you support carefully selects two black victims to hug on camera (the prettier the better)far from the stark reality of the war zone he helped create a few miles away. Or, stand in an airplane hangar trying desperately to smother his yawns while fauning public officials brief him on camera and tell him how well things are going, while badly needed helicopters are sitting uselessly behind him for impressive props. Political advantage? - Bush a la Rove has NEVER missed a single opportunity to take political advantage in every way possible, up to and including the death of every 9/11 victim, despite the fact that the victims' families are in no way satisfied with his bogus hand-picked impartial commission's findings. Please! You're just bitter because nobody likes your man anymore. The fact that he has royally screwed up not just this time but ALL ALONG is his fault, not ours. We're just pointing it out.
Total lack of compassion
I wanted to like this woman, and I did for approximately the first 48 hours after she was named as Sen. McCain's running mate. Then I heard from a close friend whose sister teaches high school Spanish in the small Alaskan town SP was mayor of. SP's son, the one who is about to be deployed overseas, was her student a few years ago and allegedly not a high-achieving one. My friend's sister said he was disrespectful and acted like he thought he was better than everyone else, and when it came time for the parent-teacher conference SP blamed his failing grades on her.
Okay, so this is one person's biased description and I didn't pay a lot of attention to it, but THEN I discovered her history regarding wildlife, ecology and "hunting," and I have to tell you this is a deal breaker for me.
What is so incredible to me is that she appears extremely caring and passionate regarding issues related to motherhood, family, child welfare and the right to life, yet she is completely void of emotion or sensitivity towards "lesser" forms of life. I don't care that she's a lifetime member of the NRA or even that she's a hunter, but she has a frightening and callous history in terms of wielding her legal power to exploit, maim and destroy wildlife and their natural habitats.
I'm so disgusted and disillusioned by all the political BS and hype coming from every direction that I can honestly say I don't plan to vote in the coming election.
Bravo. A voice of compassion and
wisdom. Not often seen herewithin.
You assume a lack of compassion....
but your snotty self-righteous attitude speaks for itself. Get over it.
Yeah....liberal compassion. I see a LOT of that on this board....
laughable. But again, skirted entirely around the issue.
911 and Katrina victims don't deserve compassion?
Wow....Oh that's right...he's on Fixed Noise. That means he must be the perfect pub. Get a grip. The man's a radical right winger just like the rest of the crew over there.
911 and Katrina victims don't deserve compassion?
Wow....Oh that's right...he's on Fixed Noise. That means he must be the perfect pub. Get a grip. The man's a radical right winger just like the rest of the crew over there, which is the why, by the way, he got kicked off CNN. Hopefully Lou Dobbs will be next.
Compassion is one thing......long-term handouts
In the case of New Orleans, the majority of those do not want a help up,they want what they had known prior to Katrina, a monthly hand out!
When the greatest majority of those folks are STILL without jobs, it is because they do not want a job. They didn't have jobs before and they certainly do not feel they should find one now.
Phhtt! LOL - compassion for a guy who sniggers and mocks a woman he's about to execute?
That ought to be asking a little too much of a decent human being, don't you think? How many convicts on death row do you have compassion for, before you go demanding sympathy for your boy?
The truth sounds rude when put bluntly but still is the truth. nm
!!!! hahaha
It also tells me
he may have a back alignment problem....big difference in the wear pattern! LOL
That's what he tells us isn't it?

Someone tells you how to think?
How unfair and unbalanced.
article tells it like it is
Yes I am sure that is why this article was written, to bring the whole republican party down. It is about false information on buying uranium, Mr. Wilson and his wife are being used to try to undermine the real story, the lies that got us into Iraq. I do not care if a person is republican or democrat, when there is a question of lies that got us into war, it deserves being investigated. Thankfully, the prosecutor is republican, that way if some are found guilty, it cannot be twisted into a partisan decision.
Your last sentence tells it all
Your last sentence concerning ammo, in my opinion, sums up your beliefs, i.e., republicans, versus democrats. Everything to you righties is fight time, attack time, war time whereas we lefties post something for people to read or debate, not to fight. I cant speak for all, but I believe negotiating, talking out problems, trying to understand each other works better than slinging insults, attacks, and using ammo. A nonpartisian person reading these posts would be able to see, the attacks more often than not are from the right wingers.
try not to believe everything the media tells you to....

I think she tells untruths
and I don;t like that in anyone. Bridge to nowhere, earmarks, etc. Don't like a hypocrite. What I really do not like, which is not actually her fault, is the fact that she is being foisted on us like she is so exceptional and we are lucky to have her. I don't think a woman whose main goal in life was to a sports reporter on TV has the brilliance and love of country we need in a leader. To be able to state with a straight face that she can see Russia from Alaska qualifies as foreigh policy experience is an insult to my intelligence. She entered a beauty contest and then wanted to coast along on her looks by looking pretty and reading a teleprompter on TV. That is just not a combination worthy of such a high office.
Tells you something troubling is going on
xx
I don't believe everything the media tells me to...
What it tells me is that you are interested in
naysaying, innuendo, division, polarization and the like. Sam, what matters to most of us savoring this incredible moment in our history is not what happened in the past. In this way, even the shrub gets a get out of jail card. My interest lies in the future and I see nothing suspicious or scary about Obama despite your best efforts after all these months. I also am not interested in preaching to the choir from either side. What I think matters now is that we try our best to get past this election and on with the business of uniting ourselves behind our leadership and start tackling the very difficult challenges we face on so many fronts. The economy is an equal opportunity crisis. Addressing global warming, the environment and alternative energy offers the promise of benefit for us all, and peace on earth is a goal that we share with the peoples of the world. Those matter to me. Not the implied, possible nefarious ties Rahm Emanuel may or may not have with the boogey man.
She can be harsh, but she tells it like it is.

Liberal truth vs. Conservative truth.
x
It tells me three things off the top of my head.
First, it tells me that he has an excellent work ethic. He worked very hard to be the best lawyer he could be, which leads me to believe if he were President, he'd work just as hard to be the best President he could be. In my opinion, Bush has NO ethics -- work or otherwise.
Secondly, it tells me that I don't believe in popularity contests. If he won or lost his own state is irrelevant to me. I respected what the man had to say, and the thought of a President Edwards over a President Bush has been looking better and better on a daily basis every day for the last year. If we can't have a leader who has firsthand experience as a combat veteran in a foreign war, then the next best thing is to have one who actually HAD to work for a living, someone who went from being poor to being rich by virtue of hard work and dedication, instead of someone being born, as Ann Richards once said, with a silver foot in his mouth.
As far as bankrupting any STATE, the most damage Edwards could have done was to decrease some PROFITS of insurance companies (easily recouped by raising malpractice insurance rates). I doubt he did any financial harm to the state. Because of him and his lawsuits, though, there might be a few more doctors practicing CARE now when they practice medicine. Don't forget. Million dollar verdicts are handed down by juries, peers of plaintiffs, in these matters. Maybe you think it's okay for doctors to get richer and richer as a result of getting sloppier and sloppier, but I don't. Negligence should be punished. That's what punitive damages are for. If the lawsuits were meritless, they would have been thrown out of court. Simple as that.
The third thing it tells me is that I'm entitled to my liberal opinion, on the LIBERAL BOARD, whether CONSERVATIVES like it or not.
Oh, something tells me you'd love to be at that judgment. ...sm
I think nothing would delight you more.
>> of all these babies aborted, could one of them have been the person that cures cancer? Or becomes the next great leader? >>
That seems wildly optimistic to me. I think it's just as likely that of all those babies aborted, one could have been the next Hitler, Jeffrey Dahmer, Timothy McVeigh (sp?). Or, more likely, just your average low-life criminal, or not-so-productive drain on society. I mean, I don't mean to be negative, but most people are just, well, I think "average" is putting it nicely. Have you been to the mall or any other public place lately? Wow.
>> Abortion is an easy way out. If you can't make the correct choice to have sex or not, to use protection or not, then you should have to live with the consequences>>
You should have to live with the consequences? So... pregnancy and parenthood as punishment, then? You sound awfully vindictive. So, have sex without protection like when you're a stupid teenager, or even with protection and it fails, and be punished for it for the rest of your life and the child's? Yeah. That sounds like a great recipe for the neverending cycle of misery and poverty that some people get stuck in.
Former POW with McCain tells of war experience..sm
http://www.thenma.org/blogs/index.php/theveteransvoice/2008/07/05/former_pow_with_mccain_tells_of_war_expe
.....Though he seldom speaks of it, the only reason Knutson retells the horrific tale of his time in North Vietnam is to help people, especially children, realize the sacrifices others have made for their freedom. It’s a sacrifice he’s made, and it’s one McCain has made.
And that in itself tells Knutson what kind of president John McCain would be.
The same SP who tells Couric she is a feminist and
while she chafes and bristles during the Williams interview (when seated next to McC)? Keeping track of one's own stance on gender issues should not present such conflict and challenge to a VP pick. SP does doesn't blink and eye at McC's air quotes and sneering "mother's health" utterance, in view of her own stance on women's reproductive rights, whereby she cuts no slack, even in the case of rape and incest victims. In addition, she supports McCain's views on the issue of equal pay for women.
More than four decades after the Equal Pay Act made it illegal to pay men and women different wages for the same work, the fight over equal pay has not been put to rest. Although the wage gap has narrowed since the days when full-time working women made 58 cents on average to the dollar earned by men, women's wages have remained stuck at 77 cents to the dollar since 2001 (the shrub era).
McCain's contribution? In 1985, McCain voted against a study to investigate pay differences among federal employees, and determine whether they were the result of discrimination. His progress in the last 23 years? In April 2008 McCain voted against Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, stating it “opens us up for lawsuits, for all kinds of problems and difficulties.” "We do not need to put this burden of equal pay on business. Women need more education and better training.
Failin Palin is no suffragette. As a matter of fact, a McCain/Palin administration would set back the gains women have made toward equality at least 35 years. For many of us, we may as well keep right on going, straight back to the turn of the 20th century.
My conscience tells me that it is murder.....sm
and that is even apart from what my religious beliefs tell me. I believe in life at the moment of conception as I stated in my post above. I won't go into all that again.
As far as amounts and agencies and how monies from my taxes and every one else's taxes are distributed to help provide medical care for those who receive free (to them) medical care, of course I can't provide that. I am not privy to where each of my tax dollars go and how much of it is spent on various government agencies or governmental salaries, etc., and neither do you. Funny, though, you're not asking Obama to produce his birth certificate or from whom he received campaign contributions, huh.
