about O being born in Hawaii or not. My aunt in Michigan talked to the FBI (well actually everybody, CIA, State Department, etc) for 2-1/2 hours on the phone. Finally, the FBI called her back and stated they are still looking to see if Obama is a natural US citizen. Obama only shows passport and not BS. The FBI is trying to get this done before the 4th and if it is after the 4th and Obama is not a US citizen, then he could be impeached. That is what my aunt was told as of this last Friday.

But am I the only one who finds it disgraceful that Americans are reduced to BEGGING this president, via a petition, to PLEASE do SOMETHING to help keep Americans safe? Every other word out of his mouth has to do with the "war on terror" (or whatever his phrase de jour currently is). Yet, after four years, he STILL couldn't care less if our borders are secure.
This is not a new issue. This is what some of us on these boards have been saying for a long time now. After 9/11, experts in terrorism said we MUST secure our borders. Instead, Bush chose to spend billions of dollars on his war against Iraq and throwing Americans to the wolves.
As I said, I will gladly sign this petition, not believing for a nanosecond that it will do any good because this president simply doesn't CARE. And all that does is give me one more reason to loathe and despise him, and it increases the personal terror I feel daily at the fact that our safety lies in his thoroughly incompetent, ignorant, uncaring hands.

These crimes are being euphemistically referred to as "abusive interrogation techniques" by such respected figures as Senator John McCain. These are euphemisms for torture. Torture is a War Crime. Waterboarding is a War Crime. The CIA has admitted waterboarding detainees. Recently, Vice President Cheney has brazenly admitted authorizing the program that led to waterboarding, other forms of torture too numerous to list, and ultimately, the deaths by homicide of detainees.
As Major General Antonio Taguba, the Army general who led the investigation into prisoner abuse at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison has stated:
"After years of disclosures by government investigations, media accounts and reports from human rights organizations, there is no longer any doubt as to whether the current administration has committed war crimes. The only question that remains to be answered is whether those who ordered the use of torture will be held to account."
The Washington Post recently summarized the Senate Armed Services Committee Report on detainee treatment thusly:
A bipartisan panel of senators has concluded that former defense secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and other top Bush administration officials bear direct responsibility for the harsh treatment of detainees at Guantanamo Bay, and that their decisions led to more serious abuses in Iraq and elsewhere.
We the undersigned citizens demand a full and thorough investigation immediately upon your taking office. This investigation should be pursued no matter where it may lead and no matter what the political implications may be. Michelle went first and the queen 'reciprocated.' (That being-gracioius thing again.) Fairly sure that's what I saw on the video, though now I cannot find the complete video on the internet anywhere, just bits and pieces of it.

There are a few things like the patriot act and LGBT issues that haven't been dealt with yet, but I would say that overall Obama is the exact opposite of Bush. Keep in mind, as he has only been in office for 5 months, he still has at least 3 years and 7 months to go. A lot can happen in that period of time.

He's inherited a huge pile of problems in this country, and around the world that the US is involved in, and considering the mess he's up against, we can't expect everything to be coming up roses soon, and in some cases ever. But I truly believe he's sincere about at least TRYING to do something about putting this country and its people right again. I also believe things are probably going to get worse, possibly a LOT worse, before they can start to get better. But at least now I feel we have some hope.

They "double speak" in the documents. Things like - "It is totally voluntary, everyone ages 18-25 WILL serve. This is something they are required to do as a citizen, total voluntary, and will make them better citizens". I may be off by one or two words but if you pull up youtube and type in Rahm Emanuel mandatory service there are a few different videos you can watch. It's also in the bills they passed. They are just calling it something different than the military because it's easier to hide it that way. Which by the way, once your child signs the papers and has had their basic training there is nothing that will stop them from being called to go fight in a war - after all "its their patriotic duty", oh and they shouldn't ever complain about it either.
I'll tell you, it's turning into a very scary country and I'm wondering if anyone in WA has a backbone anymore.

If OBama was the President, and he made as good a case as was made for going into Iraq (back when everybody including the Democrats believed there was wMD, were for it before they were against it), I would support him, because it would be in the best interest of the country. That is putting country first.
I might be sick about everything else he plans to do as President, but if he used military force to keep Iran from getting a nuke, yes, I would support Barack Obama. You heard it here first.
On the other hand, if he didn't and the inevitable resulted...I would take him to task. That also is putting country first...before party, before politics.
