'Killing our boys was aggression.' I guess you're just supposed to pay them the money and let them keep pirating. Nobody was ever supposed to fight back.
And, as they have threatened to 'deal harshly' with any US or French sailors they capture in the future, is there any reason why now we should not simply hunt down and blast each and every one of them out of the water? None that I can think of. I think they just declared war on us.

You gotta love the fact that he is actually one . . .
of the GOP "shining stars"!! They must be so proud!!
Gotta love these! (The rest of you,
grow a humor gland. In many people, this is located next to the smart gland.)
Chris Matthews... gotta love him.
I actually know him. He's like that in real life, I promise you. I didn't see this particular interview, so I can't comment on it directly. But, when Chris thinks someone is trying to evade a question, he keeps at it. True, sometimes the poor interviewee is actually trying to answer the question but can't get a word in edgewise. We have the same problem when we're with him!
He's a commentator, not a journalist. There's a certain amount of entertainment factor to his show, and MSNBC knows it. Viewers either love him or hate him, agree with him or violently disagree with him. As long as he can pull in ratings, he'll be there. If he doesn't appeal, it's easy enough to just switch him off. There are plenty of times I just smile and shake my head, "Oh, Chris is at it again!" And just click him right off.
Gotta love these drive-by posts
I love when folks stop by here, post a quick blurb. Especially when they put in nothing to support it, and they expect everyone to take it as fact. I guess we are supposed to take everything posted as fact.
You just gotta love our political machine!
And we can't forget Sonny Bono!!
Gotta love those double standards, eh?
,
You gotta love them greedy politicians!
'No, no, it's the wrong thing for our country to take money from taxpayers like that!'
'But, if you're gonna do it anyway, I'll take some!'
Just confirms my belief that they should all be thrown out on their rears!
Typical Republicant hypocrisy. Ya gotta love it!
He questions "whether encouraging homemakers to become lawyers contributes to the common good," and then he turns around and marries a LAWYER!
This isn't surprising to me at all. Bush's is doing nothing but taking us backwards in time, whether it regards science or civil rights. The only area that is moving forward by leaps and bounds and progressing at an alarming rate is the price of gasoline.
Gotta love the double standards in politics.
gotta just love your out of context quotes....too bad you don't have the rest of
Gotta love this woman. She needs to put her money where her mouth is...
buy an energy-efficient car and drive back to California. One plane trip from DC to CA puts more crud in the atmosphere than I don't now how many cars in a year's time. But I don't see AlGore or RFK Jr. driving Yugos instead of flying. They might try a little "Do as I do" instead of "Don't do as I do, do as I say." It might give them a tad more credibility...? lol.
Pirates
How do you think Obama is handling the pirate situation?
Pirates hijack four more ships.
MOMBASSA, Kenya — Undeterred by U.S. and French hostage rescues that killed five bandits, Somali pirates brazenly hijacked four more ships in the Gulf of Aden, the waterway at the center of the world's fight against piracy.
Pirates have vowed to retaliate for deaths of their colleagues_ and the top U.S. military officer said Tuesday he takes those comments seriously. But Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told ABC's "Good Morning America" that "we're very well prepared to deal with anything like that."
Still, despite Mullen's confident statement and President Barack Obama's warning Monday, pirates captured two more nautical trophies Tuesday to match the two ships they seized a day or two earlier.
NATO spokeswoman Shona Lowe said the MV Sea Horse, a Lebanese-owned cargo ship, was attacked and captured Tuesday by pirates in three or four speedboats. She had no further information.
That hijacking came only hours after the Greek-managed MV Irene E.M. was seized in a rare overnight attack by pirates.

In addition, Somali pirates also hijacked two Egyptian fishing boats in the Gulf of Aden off Somalia's northern coast, which maritime officials said had a total of 36 crew. It was not exactly clear if those ships were hijacked Monday or Sunday.
The Gulf of Aden, which links the Suez Canal and the Red Sea to the Indian Ocean, is one of the world's busiest and most vital shipping lanes, crossed by over 20,000 ships each year.
A flotilla of warships from nearly a dozen countries has patrolled the Gulf of Aden and nearby Indian Ocean waters for months. They have halted many attacks on ships this year, but say the area is so vast they can't stop all hijackings.
Choong said pirate attacks this year had risen to 78, with 19 of those ships hijacked and 17 vessels with over 300 crew still in pirates' hands. Each boat carries the potential of a million-dollar ransom.
The Irene was sailing from the Middle East to South Asia, said Noel Choong, who heads the International Maritime Bureau's piracy reporting center in Kuala Lumpur. The ship is flagged in the Caribbean island nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

U.S. Navy Lt. Nathan Christensen, spokesman for the Bahrain-based 5th Fleet, said the Irene carried 23 Filipino crew, while Choong reported it had 21. There was no immediate way to reconcile the figures.
A maritime security contractor, speaking on condition of anonymity because it is a sensitive security issue, said the Irene put out a distress signal "to say they had a suspicious vessel approaching. That rapidly turned into an attack and then a hijacking."
"They tried to call in support on the emergency channels, but they never got any response," the contractor said.
The latest seizures come after Navy SEAL snipers rescued American ship captain Richard Phillips on Sunday by killing three young pirates who held him captive in a drifting lifeboat for five days. A fourth pirate surrendered after seeking medical attention for a wound he received in trying to take over Phillips' vessel, the Maersk Alabama.
Phillips on Tuesday was aboard a Navy vessel at an undisclosed location, Christensen said. He was initially taken aboard the Norfolk, Va.-based USS Bainbridge and then flown to the San Diego-based USS Boxer for a medical exam.
In Washington, Obama appeared to move the piracy issue higher on his agenda, vowing the United States would work with nations around the world to fight the problem.
"I want to be very clear that we are resolved to halt the rise of piracy in that region and to achieve that goal, we're going to have to continue to work with our partners to prevent future attacks," Obama said at a news conference Monday.
The 19 crew members of the Alabama celebrated their skipper's freedom with beer and an evening barbecue Monday in the Kenyan port of Mombassa, said crewman Ken Quinn.
The vessel's chief mate was among those urging strong U.S. action against piracy.
"It's time for us to step in and put an end to this crisis," Shane Murphy said. "It's a crisis. Wake up."
The U.S. is considering new options to fight piracy, including adding Navy gunships along the Somali coastline and launching a campaign to disable pirate "mother ships," according to military officials. They spoke on condition of anonymity because no decisions have been made yet.
In Burlington, Vt., Phillips' wife, Andrea Phillips thanked Obama, who approved the dramatic sniper operation.
"With Richard saved, you all just gave me the best Easter ever," she said in a statement.
The four pirates that attacked the Alabama were between 17 and 19 years old, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said.
"Untrained teenagers with heavy weapons," Gates told students and faculty at the Marine Corps War College. "Everybody in the room knows the consequences of that."
U.S. officials were now considering whether to bring the fourth pirate, who surrendered shortly before the sniper shootings, to the United States or possibly turn him over to Kenya. Both piracy and hostage-taking carry life prison sentences under U.S. law.
The French navy late Monday handed over the bodies of two Somali pirates killed in a hostage rescue operation last week to authorities in Somali's semiautonomous northern region of Puntland and locals buried the bodies.
Well, if we can manage to fend off the pirates....
...in Washington, maybe we can get to the pirates in Somalia next.
Keeping information quiet because we worry about the pirates??????
That never stopped the MSM from giving out troop movements, information etc during the height of the Iraqi war did it? What about the "embedded" journalists over there. And I use the word journalist loosely.

MT companies should take their business back into the confines of their headquarters and stop employing people at home. Going by your barometer, our work would make our homes a business.

gays you think God made them that way? Years ago, sex before marriage was unheard of, but so many people over the years have done it openly now it is accepted. The Bible speaks frankly against it. Same with adultery. The Bible speaks frankly against it. People still do it. And it is still wrong. The Bible speaks against homosexuality. People still do it, it is still wrong. More people kill and steal nowadays. Does that make it right? There are more serial killers today than 20 years ago. Does that make it okay? I believe you are rationalizing. Why would God call something an abomination and then make people that way? That is like saying people are thieves because God made them that way...people are killers because God made them that way...sorry, we will have to agree to disagree big time on that kind of reasoning.
with unsound reasoning
her reasoning was unsound as well - dear
Obama's reasoning for not
having his hand over his heart is that he said they were not saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag when that picture was taken. He said that the Star-Spangled Banner was being played or sung and states he was not raised to put his hand over his heart during the national anthem.....only when you pledge to the flag. That was his reason. I know his grandparents lived in Hawaii and he spent some years living in Indonesia living with his muslim step father, but even so........I've always been taught to put my hand over my heart during the national anthem as well as during the pledge. Maybe he truly wasn't taught to do that, but given all the experiene he claims to have in government, you would think he would hold the national anthem dear to his heart and put his hand over his heart like everyone else on that stage did during the Star-Spangled Banner. Take it as you will.
Don't confuse them with reasoning.
You've given REASONS why you're glad Bush is out and Obama is in.
They don't understand REASON and common sense. It's something scary and foreign to them. So they call it cult worship. This very thinking is something that will get Obama killed, and when it does, each of these morons on this board will have blood on their hands.
Nobody can reason with these people. I'm personally tired of visiting this board and being brought down by all the UN-American posts I see.
I'm interested in having a better life. All visiting this board does is show me enormous ignorance concentrated into one little site. There are other sites where people make sense.
This site is starting to become too toxic and hazardous to my health. I'll check back in a month or so, and if no common decency has returned, then there's no point in my coming back here any more.
Here is my stance and my reasoning
for what I said above. Government shouldn't have 80% of AIG. They should have let AIG fall on its face. They shouldn't have given them money in the first place.
Here is a little blurp I've copied: I will provide the link below.
On March 5, New York Fed officials forwarded to the Treasury Department a summary of AIG’s bonus and retention payment issues, including details of the retention program for officials of the Financial Products. This information included that $165 million in payments were expected that very month, as well as the fact that the contracts were in place in the first quarter of 2008, and so not covered by the limitations in the stimulus bill as articulated by an amendment to the stimulus bill offered by Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn.
As ABC News' Capitol Hill Correspondent Jonathan Karl reported, in February, the Senate unanimously approved an amendment restricting bonuses over $100,000 at any company receiving federal bailout funds, but during the closed-door House and Senate negotiations the provision was stripped out and replaced with a measure by Dodd exempting bonuses agreed to prior to the passage of the stimulus bill on February 11, 2009.
You can read the whole article at this link: http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/03/obama-adminis-1.html
So this basically shows that these bonuses were pushed through by Dodd and so the government had its hand in giving out these bonuses and now they are going to turn around and take that away. It is a contract. I understand that AIG got butt loads of money from the government.....which was wrong in the first place.....but don't you see how scary it is for our government to have this kind of control and power. To give and take away at the drop of a hat. To null and void a contract that someone in government (Dodd) pushed through to make happen and then they turn around and want to tax it to death or just take it from them.
Why in the he!! did Dodd get this slipped in there in the first place? that is the real question. This wouldn't even be an issue. Dodd slips this in because he received the highest amount of money from AIG. So of course he wanted to pay back the hand that fed him...so to speak. And guess who had the second highest amount of contributions from AIG.....Barrack Obama..... So Dodd slips this through and allows a loophole for the AIG execs to get their big ars bonuses and now that it has gone public and people are furious......now government wants to take control and make them give the money back. Isn't it the governments fault in the first place....first for bailing them out and then for letting this loophole slip by to pay back AIG for contributions to campaigns.
This is why our government sucks. They don't care about Americans. All they care about is getting money back to the groups, etc. who contributed money to their campaign. That is why we can't get away from wasteful spending and earmarks.
Sp be it, but your line of reasoning is skewed
What if a sex offender was running loose in your neighborhood. What if he had raped a child 10 years ago, went to jail with a slap on the wrist (like what happens these days), and got out in ten years. He shows up in your neighborhood, and you see him out on his porch everyday when the school bus arrives and leaves. Not only is he leering at the school kids he's making outrageous comments on a daily basis. Would you say, *Oh, he went to prison. He did his time. Hopefully, he's rehabilited. Yes, he's a little strange and outrageous, but so far, as far as we know, he's not touched a kid again so we need to leave him alone.*
Would you trust this guy? Especially if you then found out he has a *rape room* in his house? What if his sons were running around the neighborhood reeking havoc and doing the same things but in a more merciless way and you found out they were going to inherit his house when he died?
Well, this correlates very well with Saddam. Almost too closely in fact. Like many of you say here on a daily basis, the world is our neighborhood, and in many neighborhoods there are bullies, and they don't quit being bullies until you take them out. It's just the way the world works.
Here's my reasoning on stem cell research
It's not been made illegal, it's simply not funded with federal money, i.e. taxpayers money. The pendulum has swung so far to the other side. There are lots of people who have serious objections to abortions and also stem cell research, because of their objection to using live embryos. People who want abortions have them paid for by people who don't believe in them. That's unfair. So, let the private market do the stem cell research and leave the taxpayers out of it. If you feel very strongly about it, donate your own money to those doing it in the private market.
I think it all shows that Christianity is valued with the love of the dollar, not the love of Christ

I would love for there to be a good democrat I could vote for. I want good leadership and I want change. But I truly believe to purposely ignore a symbol speaks volumes. 1) Torture. I think a little detail is in order here to help illustrate my point.
Forcing prisoners to crawl around on the floor while US soldiers rode them like donkeys.
Allowing poisonous snakes to inflict fatal bites on prisoners. In other words, premeditated murder in cold blood.
Stonings.
Shooting prisoners for minor misbehavior
Use of attack dogs.
Sexual abuse of a 16-year-old girl by two interrogators.
Sexual abuse of a 16-year-old son of an Iraqi general who was driven through the cold after he had been showered and who was smeared with mud in order to get his father to talk.
Forcing Moslem women to expose their breasts.
Forcing naked prisoners to have sex with each other.
Guards performing sodomy on boys while audio and video of the act was taped.
Urinating on detainees.
Stripping prisoners and threatening to rape them and their wives.
Blasphemy against Allah. Forcing Moslem prisoners to pray to Jesus.
Smearing feces on prisoners and forcing them to walk a straight line while their ankles were bound.
Severely beating prisoners while they were hooded and bound.
Videotaping and photographing male and female detainees, many times after arranging them in sexually explicit positions, other times forcing them to masturbate.
Keeping prisoners nakes for several days at a time.
Forcing male detainees to wear women's underwear, the ultimate humiliation to Moslem detainees.
Jumping up and down on a pile of naked detainees.
Placing a naked detainee on a MRE Box, with a sandbag on his head, and attaching wires to his fingers, toes, and penis to simulate electric torture.
Placing a dog chain around a prisoner's neck and posing him with a female officer.
Male guard raping female detainee.
Photographing smiling MP guards next to bodies of dead detainees.
Pouring phosphoric liquid on detainees.
Pouring cold water on naked detainees.
Beating detainess with a broom handle and a chair.
Threatening to rape.
2) Extraordinary redention.
3) Gitmo.
4) Dismissal of US atorneys scandal.
5) Valerie Plame.
6) The rest of the 169 PAGES of corruption and controversy links under the Bush Administration listed in Wikipedia.
You have a lot of nerve sending Emma T to the faith board after the countless times the Right-wing fringers abused this board for days and days at a time with their self-righteous indignations, all in the name of God and religion, when all she is tryig to do is express a little JOY, for God's sake.
Gotta wonder....
....what happens if millions of us default on our mortgates? Will the lenders foreclose on all of us? Foreclosure is a lengthy and expensive process, potentially ending in an eviction of you refuse to go quietly. What will they then do with all the houses and nobody to buy them? We all know how quickly vacant buildings deteriorate. Will we have suburban ghost towns?
Same with car payments. If we have mass defaults on car loans, how with the lenders handle all the repo's that will generate? What will they do with millions of repossessed cars?
What happens if millions of us can't pay our taxes? Doesn't have to be a formal tax strike. A lot of us who are ICs don't have taxes withheld. What if the self-employed cannot afford to send the quarterly payments? How many audits and prosecutions can the IRS handle? What will they do with those who are convicted of tax evasion? Will they have to let thousands of murderers and rapists out of the overcrowded prisons in order to put us in, to send a message? Will they be fighting with the banks over who gets first dibs on any assets left over after the house, the car and the big-screen TV are taken?
You've gotta be KIDDING ME!
